I haven't owned a turntable in years, and so I know what I wanted and what I didn't want. This record player is build solid and is heavy with wonderful shock absorbers for feet.
I like that I can adjust up or down record playback speed as well as adjust the tracking force on the cartridge and stylus.
My only con, and I knew this going in, was that this turntable does not have a automatic tonearm return like my old one back-in-the-day. This means you must manually pickup the tonearm at the end of a record or else it will keep revolving around the center until you do. Again, this is a very minor annoyance and more of a nit-pick.
Overall, you can't go wrong with this table. Just know that it is a stereo component, so you will need speakers or a receiver to plug into for sound. (All cables and accessories included!)

Do I also need to purchase a needle?
This box has all the cables and accessories that you need to connect this turntable to a receiver or sparkers. That includes the cartridge and needle/stylus.

Does this have auto return at the end of play?
No, this record player does NOT have auto return at the end of play. You must manually lift the tonearm to return it. (or else it will continue to rotate in the 'dead-wax' area of the record)
