Best sub I have had yet- lots of clean sub power. And it was free with the Martin Logan ESL speakers. Can't beat that!

Enjoy brilliant audio with this floor speaker that features an 8" high-excursion, doped fiber woofer cone for booming lows and a 34" Xstat Curvilinear Line Source (CLS) electrostatic transducer with 292 sq. in. of radiating surface for amazing sound.

Incredible sounding speakers

These are my first electrostatic speakers, but I did listen to the top end models in the show room. Simply put, the higher end models get louder with good clarity- just like with most other speakers. These speakers, pair with a Marantz 5008 amp, produce the perfect top end volume for movies and music- for my taste. There was a day when I wanted to be able to blast my stereo to live concert levels, but not so much any more. Don't get me wrong, these speaker can get loud- enough to make your ear ring if you listen too long. but the best quality sound is right in the middle. Movies a loud and full, and with the Marantz 700w subwoofer, the room rumbles and booms with low end sounds. To me it sounds like a good movie theater when it's at a good loud level.

I recently tried a Yahama receiver with my Martin Logan Electromotion ESL speakers and found the sound muddy, and features hard to setup and flakey. It sounded better in direct mode.
Then I got the Marantz- what a difference. Easy to setup, and all the default options make the sound quality great! My big pet peeve with technology is I think it should do most of the work for you. I mean, I love geeing and tweaking stuff ( and I read about and played with every setting on this amp, ) but in the end, it should already be setup pretty close to it optimal capability, or require minimum effort to get there. Once I ran the speaker setup, the only thing I had to set manually was to use my subwoofer in all modes. And wow! It really improves the sound of Video and Audio sources. It makes direct mode sound bad! Airplay setup was a breeze, and it connects with my TV using Anyconnect, so my TV controls the volume of the amp seamlessly. Choosing an Airplay source on my computer or iPhone switches the amp over to the audio source automatically. One this it does do that was odd to me at first, is it restricts the max volume on some sources. This is by design as it has determined that any louder will start to distort and degrade the quality of the audio. And for me, the max setting is perfect for movies! Loud full sound and bass rumbles the room.

I got this for a 2 speaker system with a sub- the Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL speakers and Dynamo 700w subwoofer.
Simply put, the systems sound great in direct mode. But when power off the system, it drops the sub connection from the system when in direct mode. But it is there in standard and all other modes.
After running the setup and adjusting things as per the instruction manual, direct mode still had the best sound, with all other modes mudding up the sound. Now remember this is a high end system, and the muddy sound would surly be tolerable, but it was always clearer in direct mode. Sounds very sweet in direct mode in fact. And honestly, this was to be expected- with top notch speakers there is no need for any extra processing anyways. So muddy processing was not a deal killer for me.
Finally, airplay was spotty and wouldn't work all the time with random drops, and sometimes just blank audio. I also noticed a few times it was silent in direct mode and had to completely pull the power to get it to work again.
Bottom line, for a 2 top end 2 speaker w/sub setup, sounds great in direct mode, when it will hold the settings. Too many other little inconstant issues to make this worth using. I will be trying the Marantz SR5008 and will post a review on it.

Doesn't stop when clothes are dry

I upgraded my dryer from my old maytag which worked great. I purchased a new washer and decided to go with the matching dryer. All features works and it drys quickly even at low temps, but sometimes it will not stop when the cloths are dry. I have caught it still running (note: not the wrinkle release feature, but still running) with time still to go long after the clothes are dry. I only upgraded my washer so I could wash my comforter (It also isn't as good as my old washer) and the trade off was a dry that might burn up my cloths and a washer that doesn't clean as well. And these are the top end models. Major Samsung fail on this one.
What's great about it: Drys quickly even at low temps
What's not so great: Sometimes doesn't shut off when cloths are dry
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Doesn't clean as well as old washer

Title says it all. I wanted to upgrade my maytag atlantis old school washer so I could wash my king size comforter. The maytag worked great- just couldn't fit a king size comforter. I decided to "upgrade" and after having this for several months, I find it doesn't clean things as well. Cloths still have stains and dirt that the old washer never had. Bed sheets take 2 washings and still don't get as clean as the old washer with one washing. Very disappointed for such a high end washer.
What's great about it: Can wash king size comforter
What's not so great: doesn't get things very clean
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Can this washer use HE powder detergent?
I've read that some HE washers do better with powder detergent. Is there a preference with this one?
I have been using HE liquid detergent and its works great. I even only wash on cold with the cold only detergent and it gets things good and clean.
