To be honest I started with the kenwood 400watt model and it kept clipping out....discouraged that I did my install wrong, I repeated every step. The sound kept going out at high volumes....I rerouted the power straight to the battery and redid the ground to...kenwood amp could not handle the high volume...went back to best buy and exchanged it for the alpine 400watt model...holy cow...now that is what I expected to hear. Clear lows and crisp highs...no clipping at high volumes. This made my day....also love the gain control for each front and rear speaker sets...an option not available on the kenwood model.

i just bought a fhx700bt pioneer car radio, does putting pioneer speakers 3 way our 4 way the best thing to do?

3 way versus 4 way really depends on the music you listen to and location of your speakers. Highs are directional, unlike bass sounds, so they have to be directed towards your ears. If they are door mounted go with 3 way...you wont hear the difference. If dash or rear deck mounted then try the 4 way since the glass will reflect the sound to your ears...but this would be for ultra higjs in trace and classical music mainly.

i want to keep my radio but would like more power and better sound

Add the alpine ktp-445u. Has built in crossover and gains for front and rear speakers. This will help adjust the highs versus lows and give you gteat sound.

ktp-445 compatability

I need an aftermarket amp to replace my factory grand cherokee amp. The ktp-445 looks like the thing i need because i can use the power/speaker wires from the old input harness. I have a Kenwood receiver, which does not have a compatable harness with the ktp-445. I need to know which wires (input and output) on the alpine ktp-445 do what (if this will work at all), so that I can match them up with the proper wires that fed and left the old infinity gold amp that blew up.
Best to use the rca connections...but if unable you can use the built in line converter from the speaker wires at the back of your head unit. To know which wire are which, you will jave to use a "AA"battery and pop the speakers. This will tell you which wires go to which speakers. For polarityyou will have to go by sound...it wont hurt the speaker either way you phase it. If the speaker is visable then you can see if it pops outward then you have polarity correct....inwards then shows you have polarity reversed.
