Decent Jadakiss album with one great track

Jadakiss, Top 5 Dead Or Alive, 2015. I bought this online for $10 plus shipping. Best Buy Exclusive CD with 19 tracks, including the bonus track "Baby" produced by Scram Jones and featuring a hook (but no verse) from Dyce Payne.
Jadakiss is a very good but IMO not all-time great rapper, and I thought this album confirmed that assessment for me. Production is from a variety of different producers, with Swizz Beatz, Rico Beats, and Scram Jones each producing two tracks. There are lots of average beats, a couple nice ones, and one enormously impressive track called "Realest In The Game" produced by the duo Arkatech Beatz (Trauma D and Jugrnaut, who were formerly known in the late 90's/early 00's for their work with Nas/Raekwon/others as "Infinite Arkatechz"). The beat samples a production music outfit named Two Steps From HeII, known for scoring dramatic movies and movie trailers. "Realest In The Game" is the most visceral and punishing beat I came across in 2015; perhaps the best comparison I could draw is the beat from "Ali Bomaye" by The Game. Young Buck (yes he is still rapping), Sheek Louch, and Jadakiss all do a good job of matching the beat's intensity with energetic verses. Listen first to "Realest In The Game", preferably on a good set of car speakers or over-the-ear headphones... listening to the rest of the album is not a waste, but is optional in comparison.

About what I would expect

Pimp C, Long Live The Pimp, 2015. I bought this online for $12 plus shipping in early 2016. 16 tracks, this is the standard and only CD version released by Mass Appeal. Comes with a digital download card, but neither the CD nor the digital download includes the iTunes bonus track "Twerk Something" featuring T.I.
Pimp C is famous as a producer who helped to define the sound of southern rap in the 90's, and as one half of the rap duo "UGK" along with Bun B. His death in 2007 was followed by the release of a solo Greatest Hits album (2008) and two posthumous solo albums of new material ("The Naked Soul Of Sweet Jones" in 2010, and "Still Pimping" in 2011). This is Pimp C's third posthumous solo album, released by a record label called Mass Appeal that was launched in 2014 by Nas. I bought this solely for the Nas guest verse on the track "Friends", since I am a collector of Nas appearances. Upon one superficial listening to the album as a whole, it struck me as average, and no standout tracks jumped out. The track "Wavybone" featuring verses from A$AP Rocky, Juicy J, and Bun B was previously released earlier in 2015 with an extended intro/outro on A$AP Rocky's "At.Long.Last.A$AP" album. Mr. Lee produces most of the tracks; he is an underappreciated producer behind many of the biggest hits from Houston rappers in the 90's and 00's, so the beats are solid but nothing too innovative or spectacular on this album. This is about what I expected from a posthumous Pimp C album.

Classic album

Eminem, The Slim Shady LP, released in 1999. Bought it in a Best Buy store in August, 2016 for $6. 20 tracks, appears to be the standard original release from Aftermath, Interscope, and Web Entertainment, though the wrap around the jewel CD case had a stamp saying "Made in Mexico." All artwork and liner notes were in English and seemed to identify it as the original 1999 release.
Slim Shady LP in 1999 and Marshall Mathers LP in 2000 are the two albums that made Eminem famous and cemented his status as an all-time great MC. Around the time of Slim Shady LP, his lyrics and delivery were captivating in such a unique way compared to his mainstream peers. His rapping and songwriting style changed after these two albums, which was IMO for the worse. The tracks produced by Dr. Dre on Slim Shady LP are excellent ("My Name Is", "Guilty Conscience", "Role Model"). The Bass Brothers produced most of the others; I happen to like their production, but I imagine their beats are not for everyone. Only two features on the album, one from Dr. Dre on "Guilty Conscience" and one from a young Royce Da 5-9 on the excellent "Bad Meets Evil," a track which was the origin of Eminem and Royce subsequently forming a duo under that same name. Aside from the usual profanity, misogyny, hedonism, idolatry, etc. that is pervasive in mainstream rap, Eminem was prone in this era to going overboard with a few instances of horrorcore tracks that I find thoroughly unenjoyable. These tracks are made all the more disturbing by the fact that he is such a gifted storyteller. There are probably a couple moments like that on Slim Shady LP, though the most notable example, "Kim", is from Marshall Mathers LP. Otherwise, this is a classic album full of classic tracks.
