Best APS-C DSLR On the Market!
on May 31, 2016
Posted by: DusterBuster
The Nikon D500 is a camera that professionals and enthusiasts have waited 7 years for. It replaces the D300s and is at the top of the APS-C market. The closest comparable competitor is the Canon 7D-MKII, and even it can't touch the build quality and performance of the D500. Now, lets talk about what makes the D500 great:
-20.9 megapixel sensor with EXPEED 5 image processing. This processor is top of the line and the only other camera that has it is the $6500 D5.
-153 Autofocus points that cover the sensor edge to edge with 99 of the points being cross-type. Shooting with this camera doing sports and wildlife shooting in bursts, the AF tracking is superb and unrivaled by any alternative.
-ISO covers from 100-51,200 natively! This is unheard of in an APS-C body until now. This means this camera performs well even in low light situations. Look up some of the ISO tests on this camera and you will see that it impresses even at these higher ISO's. It can shoot up to 1,640,000 ISO, but that is not natively and is not recommended by Nikon.
-4k Video. You may have heard that it does have a 1.5x additional crop factor when shooting video. Don't worry too much about that, if you are shooting with the correct lense, it won't be a problem. That said, the 4k video is amazing and looks great on my 4k TV.
-Dual card slots. This camera includes one SD and one XQD card slot. While expensive, XQD is blazing fast and virtually eliminates the buffer so that you can continuously shoot. Speaking of buffer, even with SD, this camera is no slouch. Even shooting with SD only, I've never had to stop and wait for the buffer when using the continuous shooting features.
-10FPS. That's right, you can capture 10 shots per second when shooting continuously. This is a feature you will find VERY useful for sports and wildlife photography.
-Snapbridge is a new feature, exclusive to the D500 at the moment, that lets your camera connect to your phone via NFC/Bluetooth for image sharing among other features.
All-in-all, this camera is a beast and an absolute must-have for any sports or wildlife photographer. Yes, it's no slouch for weddings, landscapes and portraits as well, but Full-frame sensors will surely outperform it in those areas. I would personally pair this camera with a D810 and use this one for the sports/wildlife and the D810 for Weddings/Portraits/Landscape.
If you are in the market for a new high-end professional grade APS-C sensor, this camera is the one for you. Definitely buy it!
Below, I've included a pair of photos taken with the camera.

Outstanding and Upgradable High-End Gaming Laptop
on July 6, 2015
Posted by: DusterBuster
This is not only the best gaming laptop I have ever owned, It's the best gaming PC I've owned (Not to say that you can't make a better desktop, you most definitely can!).
I have been using the MSI GT-72 Dominator for about a month and a half and have not had a single problem with it. It's always been very important to me to be able to build PC's with future-ready motherboards that I can upgrade for several years. However, because of work, I can no longer have a desktop PC and had to go the gaming laptop route due to my travels. The GT-72 meets my needs in being widely upgradable along with some of the best laptop hardware available inside. Here's my experience so far with the system:
-The GTX 970M performs very well with the i7 Processor included, running all of my games at full spec without any drop in performance. It is very possible and quite easy to upgrade to the GTX 980M if you desire the top-of-the-line video card. Side note: MSI has already confirmed that the motherboard installed in the laptop is upgrade-ready for the next generation NVDIA cards upon release.
-RAM. The system comes with 16GB of RAM across 2 cards. The motherboard has 4 total slots, two right underneath the back cover, the other two you would have to dismantle almost the entire laptop to get to. Want to upgrade the system to its max 32GB RAM capacity? No problem, the two easily-accessible slots are the ones that are left open. I chose to get 2 8gb G.SKILL cards to max at 32GB, which is overkill, but awesome.
-HDD/SATA Interface. Starting with SATA, the DVD drive is connected via SATA II, which is fine because its impossible for any optical drive to take advantage of a SATA III interface. The 2.5" 1TB HGST HDD included is high end, and benchmarks very well. I did choose to replace it with a 2.5" 1TB Samsung SSD, just because I am a speed junkie. It was then that I learned that the 2.5" drive slot is also hooked up via SATA II, which is unfortunate, because I won't be able to hit full potential on the Samsung drive, but either way, it's still a major performance upgrade. Also, oddly enough, there is another spot available for an additional 2.5" drive, but don't waste your time as there is actually no hookup for it. The only use I could imagine for that drive is just that it is a good spot to store a spare HDD in case your hard drive ever fails.
-SSD/SATA Interface(cont.). This is where the GT72 hits the home run. The included Kingston 128GB SSD has outstanding performance, but is definitely worth upgrading. The SSD is of the M.2 Variety, which currently maxes out at a 512GB capacity. This is fantastic, because the M.2 SSD is in one of 4 slots of a RAID card that is attached to a SATA III interface. That means that you can have up to 4 M.2 SSD's in the laptop, and can run them in RAID-0 for over 2000MB Read/Write. I currently have a 500GB Samsung M.2 and the 128GB Kingston that came with the laptop hooked up (not in RAID). My plan is to get 3 more of the Samsung M.2 SSD's to run in RAID-0 to complete a blazing-fast 2TB SSD.
In closing, the MSI GT-72 Dominator is an outstanding beast of a machine with uncomparable upgradability for a laptop. The design is beautiful, and the customization with the steel series keyboard is fantastic. This laptop will exceed your expectations, even after reading this review. If you are in the market for a high-end upgradable gaming laptop, look no further, buy the GT-72 Dominator!

The photos I uploaded were processed in Adobe Lightroom, but I didn't need to touch on the sharpness at all, just bumping some contrast primarily and using some de-haze in the second picture. The pictures are very sharp, but I do believe the lense is the primary reason for that, however the camera certainly is doing its part as well. I'm glad you were able to see the quality, I was concerned about the down-scaling that Best Buy requires to upload having too much of a negative impact.
I love your D800 for portraiture and landscape. I wouldn't bother with the D750 as the only nice benefit you will have from it over the D800 is better low light performance, which you will get even more of an improvement in from the D500. The D610 is more of a low-end Full-frame, which I feel that your D800 already negates. In the end, it depends on what you're shooting. If you are using the D800 for portraiture and landscape, but could use an increase in performance in sports/wildlife, then the D500 is the sure bet. If sports/wildlife isn't a priority for you, you may be best off saving for a D810 or waiting for the anticipated D820/D850 (whatever they name it) that everyone thinks is coming this year or next year. However, the D500 is no slouch in portraiture, I would use it for that, it can just sometimes be a pain to deal with the DX crop factor, but with the right lenses, it's not a problem.
The RAW shooting with the D500 is outstanding. The buffer can handle 200 shots of continuous RAW shooting before it makes you wait, so you should never run in to a buffer problem. The files shoot clean and really pop once you get to post-processing.
As far as comparing it to the D7200, it's a whole different class. Starting with the build quality, the D500 feels much better in your hands. The FPS in continuous shooting is better, you get more AF points and much better overall AF performance. Then low light, the D500 is so much better at low light than any other crop sensor DSLR, that it really sets a new bar for what to expect in the future, and puts DX/low light concerns to rest. The D7200 is a nice DX camera, but as far as its comparisons to the D500, it doesn't hold a candle.
I hope I have been able to help answer all of your questions and help you with which direction you want to go with your next camera. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer.

Battle friends and foes with the Sony PlayStation 4 Pro console. Its 1TB capacity lets you store plenty of games without an external hard drive, and the dual-shock controller improves your hands-on gaming experience. Setting the record straight.

This console exist solely for the hardcore gamer. This is an advanced version of the console with an overclocked GPU and 4K and HDR that is something to behold if you witnesses it in person. Everyone who is complaining about the UHD player not included in the console. Here's the reason, the number of consumers who have used the PS4 and PS3 when it picked up traction using NETFLIX was the #1 streaming device for all content. This is exactly why they didn't include the UHD on the PS4 PRO. YOU consumers clearly made it so, MORE people are streaming watching there content than they are buying $30 UHD Blurays to watch one movie. It makes sense across the board, this console is future proofing moving forward with the technology of 4K and HDR and enhancing future game titles with improving everything developers can do with. If you all want a UHD player for $300 get the Xbox One S, clearly that is what many of you are interested in and less on games having 4K support as well. This is a VIDEO GAME platform first and a multimedia entertainment system second.

Okay, people stream, I get that. You're still going to get better video quality and FAR better audio quality from a disk, plain and simple, and that matters to people with a home theater setup trying to cut down on boxes. Most 4k TV's are SMART TV's, so 4k streaming on a PS4 is IRRELEVANT to most. Lastly, Microsoft was able to do it with the Xbox One S, so why couldn't Sony? Face it, they dropped the ball. I sold my PS4 a couple months ago in anticipation of this being announced, then shockingly, they omitted the one feature I really wanted from the upgrade. So now I'm still without a PS4 and will wait however long it takes for one that will play 4K disks. Meanwhile, I also sold and upgraded my Xbox One, which is good to go with UHD disks now. I prefer my PlayStation, but I will not be buying one until it includes that drive.

Could you estimate how much this would cost by say Christmas? I kinda need it before 2017. :)

Since it's not coming out until November 11th, it's safe to say we definitely won't see any discounts over this holiday season.
