Background: I have an old Velbon tripod that lost its crank handle to extend the height. So I thought I'd grab a new one to record my daughter's ballet performance last night. I had plenty of time beforehand at the venue to set it up..... What's good? The height 66" is good for going over peoples' heads who are seated at a performance on a flat floor. It was taller than my old one by 6". What's bad? Everything else... 1) The part that attaches to your camera is not sturdy at all and I would worry about putting an expensive, heavy camera on it. It does not fit securely like my old one did. 2) The whole thing is very plastic-y, and lightweight. 3) It doesn't pan. It can go up and down with the crank handle. It can rotate 90 degrees, but I couldn't make it pan. I looked at it and the instructions for 15 minutes trying to figure it out.... My old one panned so smoothly and with this one, you'd have to move the feet of the tripod!
