Superb, affordable 2.1 speakers!

I bought a set of these speakers some three years ago. They're used daily and have performed flawlessly. The sound is phenomenal, especially the bass. They're received excellent reviews: http://www.digit.in/forum/reviews/135928-five-2-1-speaker-set-comparison.html
I like them well enough that I just ordered a second, new set for the price of $85, quite a bargain. I purchased a set of Klipsch Promedia speakers at the same time I bought my first set Logitech Z623s. The Klipsch sounded nearly as good as the Z623s until they went belly-up after less than two years. For the price, sound and reliability, it's mighty hard to beat the Logitech Z623s.

Great photo paper if you don't need longevity.

This is an excellent photo paper with the exception that it's not resin-coated (RC), which will greatly reduce its longevity. If you want prints that will stand the test of time, choose HP Premium Plus paper (glossy or soft gloss). It yields excellent prints and IS resin-coated.

Costs less to mail.

Perhaps the only good thing about photos printed on the paper is that it costs less to mail them--they've very lightweight. And, yes, that's a left-handed complement. It's OK for throw-away photos, but not for photos that you want to last.. It's not resin-coated, hence it's not water-resistant.. It's has no heft, hence it's quite fragile. There are better photo papers available for comparable prices. You just have to become an informed buyer.. Put a little time into acquiring product knowledge. It pays off.

Good photo paper and value.

This is resin-coated (RC) paper which yields excellent photos on my Canon printer, which speaks very highly of it as I'm not fond of glossy photos. I prefer the look of Epson Premium semi-gloss, which is also an RC paper.
Both should last for decades. and both are exceptional papers when purchased for the right price. When on sale, Best Buy's price is typically the best around. I've had good results with a variety of photo papers: HP Premium Plus soft gloss, Canon Pro Luster and Plus Semi-Gloss, and some by Ilford, Inkpress Media and Ultrafine Horizon. The best bang for the buck, however, generally comes from Best Buy.

Great for everything but photos.

I really have mixed emotions about this printer. Text is razor sharp, every bit as good as my HP Laser Jet 1020, and much better than my Canon MX-922 inkjet printer. The Epson is also faster and quieter than my Canon. Almost everything about the Epson is superior, except when it comes to photos.
Photos printed on the Epson are as sharp as the text, but the color is dismal. Poor saturation and contrast compared to the Canon, and no software included to make any adjustments. I attempted to correct/enhance the photos with Gimp, but to no avail on any of the papers I tried: Canon Pro Platinum, Pro Luster, Plus Semi-Gloss and Matte; Epson Ultra Premium and Premium gloss; HP Premium Plus Glossy and Soft Gloss, Advanced Glossy; Ilford Premium Pearl; Inkpress Luster; Ultrafine Horizon Luster. The results were unimpressive on all of them. Blacks were more grey than black and color saturation was poor on all colors. The WF-7610 is definitely NOT intended to print photos, nor does it claim to be.
Although it was able to print the most detailed photos I've ever seen from an inkjet, I reluctantly returned it, as my primary interest in it was to print photos. All of he photos I printed with it looked washed-out at best. Even those printed on good, luster and matte paper were very reflective, not at all what you'd expect from these papers. For text, the WF-7610 is a superb printer. For photos, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Excellent photo paper

This paper has plenty of heft, and offers good color. It also provides good whites and excellent detail. When purchased at a good price it's hard to beat, and I'm using it on a Canon MX922. I initially judged it as being intended for printers using only pigment-based inks, but it works equally well with those using dye-based inks. Surprised me. Prints are not quite as bright or white as Canon Glossy II paper, for instance, but you won't notice it unless you have the prints side-by-side. The soft gloss finish looks remarkably like what I've always referred to as semi-gloss, which I prefer to high gloss. If it's RC paper, which I suspect it is, you can't go wrong with it.

Poor Quality
By SaltH20 from Ormond Beach, FL
The good: Speaker set has a nice look and the cables are longer than my last speaker set which helped with placement. The bad: Worked for less than one day. Sound quality seemed pretty decent after first setup, unfortunately after approx one hour of use I started to get a popping out of the right speaker which got progressively worse. Even with the computer idle, the right speaker pops and crackles. This seems to be related to the big cable that runs from the right speaker to the sub since wiggling the cable at the connector on the back of the sub increases and decreases the popping. However the cable is hardwired into the back of the right speaker so I have no way to substitute a different cable and verify this. Bottom line, I would say these are very poorly constructed and would not recommend this brand.

Did you return them?
January 16, 2014
If they were only one day old, all you had to do is return them to BestBuy for an exchange or refund. I purchased two sets of these a year ago, and both still work just fine. Granted they're no match for the Klipsch 2.1 or LLogiech Z623s, but they offer good sound for the price.

Unexpected noises and sounds
By UNIX
These speaker setup looks very promising on paper - brand name, good looking speaker, THX certification (better than no certification).
Unfortunately, listening at low- normal volumes I had some weird static/cracking sound on the left speaker. I said ok, a fluke, so exchanged it for another. The second unit was better on the left channel, but it had popping/cracking (like popcorn) sounds when the subwoofer was activated. I can't pinpoint what the cause was in both situations - is it amp, crossover, something loose in the speakers, who knows.
I spent more time unpacking, setup, and packing, rather than listening to speakers.
I hope you others don't have the same problem. After returning the second unit, I went on the floor to see what they had out, and guess what the Promedia 2.1 they had on the floor had static noises on left speaker too!
As such, I cannot recommend these

Excellent sounding, but short-lived speakers.
December 17, 2014
I purchase these speakers two years ago to provide decent sound to my new 55-inch TV, and they did. They provided excellent sound until 2 days ago,. At that time, while watching a TV show, the sound just quit without warning. About a minute later while I was still scratching my head, the sound returned--sort of. The satellites were working exactly as before the problem began, but the subwoofer was barely working at all. I changed to a set of Logitech Z623s that I normally use on my computer to be sure the problem originated in the speakers and not the TV. They worked fine. Going back to the Klipsch, it was evident that the problem was still there--very weak bass. These speakers are only warranted for one year, so my only option is to have them repaired, and that will cost $70 + shipping, which I'm unwilling to pay. I'm 60 years old, still with good hearing, and I don't listen to the TV at high volume levels,. The amplifier, which I suspect is the culprit, should not fail this soon. if you're willing to buy these knowing that you many not get much service out of them, go right ahead. They provide excellent sound while they work. Just don't expect them to work too long.

True to Life Color That Pops!
By sford122 from Amarillo TX
I just purchased the Epson Expression Premium XP600 printer from Best Buy at a great price and got sample 4x6 Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy sheets with it. I shoot true-life macro as a hobby and printed the attached photo from my computer. I've printed this same picture using another high brand photo paper and also had it printed locally. The Epson Ultra Premium photo paper is by far the best photo I've printed. Perfect borderless print, dry to the touch as soon as it printed, brilliant colors and so true-to-life quality. The yellow flower turned out brilliant and the orange and black on the bee were rich and vibrant with full saturation. This will be the only photo paper I buy in the future. Also love the dedicated photo tray on the Epson XP600 printer! Great job Epson and Best Buy! Thanks.

Sharp, colorful photo, but I suspect I'd have used a long lens on a tripod at a distance when shooting bees. :) I'm curious as to why you chose Ultra Premium over Premium, as Epson lists them as having nearly identical lifespans. Premium is RC paper, you know.

Good 2.1 speakers, but there are better.
By Mark47374 from Richmond, IN
I've been a fan of Klipsh speakers since I first discovered Klipschorns back in the '70s. They're excellent, highly efficient speakers. The Promedia 2.1 are good speakers, but they're no Klipschorns, nor should anyone expect them to be. The price I paid for mine, $99, represents only a tiny fraction of the $9000 price for a pair of Klipschorns. Klipsch manufactures sound systems for movie theatres, so they're a very knowledgeable about sound.
One glaring omission on the 2.1s is an on-off switch anywhere on the unit, at least on mine. Leaving them on all the time may consume a small amount of energy, but it's not much, and they do have a good sound. The speakers they're replacing, Altec Lansing ACS 340s, were left on pretty much all of the past 18 years, and they're still working. I also own a pair Logitech Z623s, though, also purchased for $99, and I find their sound to be superior to the Promedias. Midrange and treble are comparable, but the bass of the Z623 is definitely better than that of the Promedias: capable ot hitting lower frequncies and with more punch. They're truly in a class above. It's worth noting the the Promedias offer 200 watts of peak power, while the Legitechs offer 200 watts of RMS power, which is about twice as much.
I don't think you'll be unhappy with the Promedia's, but go with the Logitechs if you want to most bang for your buck. I'm happy with both.

Good while they lasted.
May 1, 2015
My Promedia 2.1s were hooked up to my 55" TV and provided great sound until one day a few months ago they just stopped working. While I sat there thinking about what to do--a minute or so--they started working again, but the sound wasn't the same. Much of the upper bass was missing, and still is.
Turning up the bass control increased the deep bass, but the mid-bass was just gone. I suspect the problem lies in the crossover. The price to have anything repaired on these speakers, plus shipping, is comparable to the purchase price once they're out of warranty. If anything goes wrong with them, they become instant trash.
A set of Logitech Z623s which I purchased at the same time as the Promedia's still work flawlessly, slightly superior to the Klipsch Promedia's when they were new, and the 623s offer a warranty twice as long as the Klipsch, something to consider if you're looking for a good set of 2.1 speakers in this price range.

When watching TV, it will start speaking in Spanish or the SAP will come on. You must turn the TV off and back on to stop the action. Then sometimes the volume goes out, when you click to another channel there is sound, and when you click back the sound returns.

Outstanding but............
By tanker434usa from Cary, NC
I am COMPLETELY satisfied with my purchase however please consider the specs given online do not match what is on the box. Online listed as 200W Speaker Power, Sub.130W (330W). The Satellites are ACTUALLY rated 35W per for a total of 70W. Therefore TOTAL SYSTEM POWER is really 200W, NOT 330W. If you need a great set of speakers, buy them. BB just needs to go back to math class. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comparing apples to oranges.
December 2, 2015
The Logitech Z623 produce 200 watts of RMS power (130W subwoofer and 70W satellites). The 330-watt figure you refer to is peak power, which they can produce for very short periods of time, and is generally best ignored as it's put there primarily for marketing purposes. Speakers consume different amounts of power based largely upon the frequencies they emit. The higher the frequency, the less power is needed to achieve a certain volume level. Hence, the bulk of the power is used by the woofer and sub-woofer. These Z623 produce enormous bass levels and very adequate mid-range and highs. I have been very pleased with their performance for years.

I am very disappointed with Bestbuy, Bought Klipsch - ProMedia 2.1 Speaker System open box few days ago, they sent broken speaker system to me, what a let down. Does any body check the system before they ship to make sure it is in working condition?? There is a fuse in the subwoofer that has blown out, no big deal went to The home depot and got new fuse. I installed the new fuse and checked to turn on the speaker still no power. Rechecked the fuse it's blown out too. I am returning this product back to Bestbuy. Waste of my time and frustration thank you bestbuy.

Mine only lasted less than two years before the amp got funky on me. I won't give Klipsch a second chance. They're considered among the elite speaker brands, but their speakers don't merit that rating based on my experience.

Horrible paper
By yorkielover2
We bought this paper to print vacation pictures on. The ink would not stay on the paper. The ink smeared, scratched, and rubbed off without any pressure being put on it. We let the pictures sit and dry overnight, the ink still would not stay on them. We bought different paper and reprinted the pictures; they turned out great. We would NOT recommend this paper to anyone!

This paper will only print of one side. If you load it incorrectly you'll get the results you encountered. Having said that, I believe that this paper is overpriced even when on sale, so I don't buy it. I generally buy HP or Canon, the former of which offers affordable soft-gloss paper which I prefer to full-gloss.

How do we get the printer to print a clean page? It leaves gray streaks all down the page
The best place to get this information is in your printer's manual, as all printers are different. It you don't have the manual, go to the website of the printer manufacturer and look for it there. Most are available for free download.

PRINTER EPSON WF 4630

HELLO I WAS IN A LOCAL BEST BUY STORE AND TRY PURCHASING A NEW PRINTER. THE SALES GUY TOLD ME I HAD T PURCHASE NEW INK ALSO BECAUSE THE INK HAT CAME WITH THE PRINTER FROM FACTORY WAS ONLY DESIGN TO PRINT ABOUT 100 PAGES. MY QUESTION IS WAS HE CORRECT OR WAS HE TRYING TO UP SALE ME.
I'm not sure about the exact number, but he was correct. The starter cartridges do not contain much ink. That's pretty much true of most printers. Ink sales is where printer manufacturers make most of their money. At a prince higher in weight than gold, it's easy to see why. Some 3rd party ink is good and much less expensive, but some yields less than acceptable results, and may even damage your printer. You have to be very careful when buying 3rd part ink. Buy only those inks whose specs match those of the ink sold by the printer manufacturer. If your printer specifies pigment ink, buy pigment ink, If dye ink, buy dye ink, etc. The two are not compatible, despite what you may read.
