Richard Gere and Sean Connery star in the action-romance First Knight. The film is presented in both 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen as well as a cropped 1.33:1 full-frame version. The widescreen presentation looks grand with vibrant colors and dark black levels throughout. While a small amount of edge enhancement pops up once in a while, overall this is a very clean transfer without any major defects or blemishes. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English and is, to say the least, great. With bombastic sound effects enveloping the viewer and a vast array of Surround sounds leaking out of both the front and rear speakers, fans of the film will get a kick out of this mix if they own a home theater system. Thankfully, all aspects of the dialogue, effects, and music are free of any hiss or distortion. Also included on this disc are Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround soundtracks in French, English, and Spanish, as well as Korean and Spanish subtitles. Because the film was so costly and bombed upon its initial theatrical release, Columbia has decided not to include a single solitary supplement on this edition of First Knight.
I had this on VHS originally so I was excited to finally get this on DVD. Just a great classic tale of Camelot, full of passion with great battle scenes. Love all the main actors.
I love the first 3 so I wanted to finish my collection. Although I love this type of movie, I hate when the stars become so big or have other commitments that they don't finish the installments. Still....love Penelope Cruz so C'es la vie! Worth watching!!
