Featuring 1920 x 1080 maximum resolution, this Dell S2415H 3R3XN LED monitor presents stunningly realistic images in clear detail on its 23.8" display. The virtually borderless, ultranarrow bezel delivers an enveloping widescreen viewing experience.

Great monitor for a low price

I've had this for a month and am very happy with it. Larger and brighter than my previous monitor. I was also considering a Lenovo monitor with a matte finish, which would reduce glare. While this Dell monitor does reflect the overhead lights behind me as well as light from a nearby window, the glare is not enough to detract from the experience. Glad I got this and would recommend it to others.

Can’t Go Wrong With This Collection

Neil Young has an extensive catalogue, which can take a while to complete. If you’re a casual fan, this has all the hits in one place and the audio quality is perfect. There is literally no filler here.
If you’re a bigger fan and plan to gobble up all or most of his recordings, I’d still argue that this is an important one to have in your collection. Sometimes you want a greatest hits playlist, sometimes you want the less familiar, deeper cuts – this satisfies the former. And this can tide you over til you have them all if that’s your goal.
Neil is an artist that listens to the fans. As explained in the liner notes, these songs comprise his most popular, downloaded, and requested songs from his career, although it is heavily weighted toward the 1970s.

The third in the trio of early 70s live releases, this is the plugged in set from Neil and Crazy Horse. Just a few songs is all it takes to experience the rockin’ side of the man and his band.
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere kicks things off with great effect followed by Winterlong. The centerpiece is 12+ minutes of Down By The River, but there’s still more from the band. Wonderin’ and Come On Baby Let’s Go Downtown give short bursts before the closing Cortez The Killer.
This is a great set that adds balance to the Massey Hall and Cellar Door releases. Taken together, you get a wonderful picture of Neil at a critical time in his recording career.

Raw and Powerful Neil

I love the trio of live performances that Neil released from the early 1970s. The audio quality is stunning for the age and if you’re a fan, they’re must haves for your collection.
But I’d argue that casual fans can use these CDs as an entrée to some of his non-radio work that might be unfamiliar to you. This performance from 1970 includes a mix of songs from his early solo recordings as well as a few tunes from Buffalo Springfield.
Just Neil singing while playing guitar or piano, these raw renditions are powerful. My favorites are Tell Me Why, Expecting To Fly, Don’t Let It Bring You Down, See The Sky About To Rain, and I Am a Child. Hearing Cinnamon Girl in this setting is pretty cool.
There is some overlap with the Massey Hall release, but I have them both and don’t necessarily favor one over the other. They are distinct enough to warrant owning both!

Wonderful performance!

Let me start by admitting that I haven’t always been a fan of Neil Young’s but he has grown on me as I’ve grown older. The songs of his that I most often prefer are the electric rockers and radio staples.
The trio of early live performances that have been recently issued are each phenomenal. Just Neil singing while playing guitar or piano – absolutely no frills on these. But that setting is exactly what makes him special and allows his plaintive lyrics to shine and touch you in ways that might not have translated from the original studio recordings. It’s sad and emotive at times, but in a very good way.
Standout tracks for me are Old Man, Don’t Let It Bring You Down, There’s a World, Needle and the Damage Done, Ohio, and I Am a Child.
This is a long set of 17 songs, but none are dragged out with lengthy solos. As a bonus, Neil introduces and comments on some of the songs, which I appreciate.
Some might wonder if it’s worth getting both this and the related release, Live at the Cellar Door. Yes, there is some overlap on the set lists, and only 1-2 years between performances. But the renditions are slightly different, as is the sequence.

Awesome set list and quality!

I’m a relatively late arrival to Mott The Hoople (within the last 5-6 years), but once I started listening, I was instantly hooked. Since getting this CD, I’ve had to force myself to listen to other music. I’m so impressed by the songs included here, but even more so with the quality of the sound. It’s full, heavy, clear, and satisfying for being 40 years old. The liner notes on this special release also reveal an interesting story about Led Zeppelin watching from the wings of the concert and trying to get onstage to perform with them. That just goes to show you how big Mott was and how well-regarded they were by all.
The band was firing on all cylinders. They gave you tunes that were heavy, rocking, grooving, touching, and soulful all in one set. If you don’t have this CD in your collection, I highly recommend it.

Rock Out This Christmas!
on December 23, 2015

I like the traditional Christmas standards from Bing Crosby, The Rat Pack, Ella Fitzgerald, and all the others. But as a classic rock fan, sometimes I want to hear something different as I get in the mood for the holidays. Boy does this fit the bill. Nearly 40 tracks of melodies you know, but presented in a rocking way. Still very respectful to the originals but with great guitar, bass, and drums. There are so many standout tracks, but my favorites are Twelve Days of Christmas, Linus and Lucy, Deck The Halls, Happy Xmas, and Carol of the Bells.
I also had the pleasure of seeing Gary and his band perform many of these tracks live earlier this month at a small club. He’s a really nice guy who spent time with the fans, and they truly seemed to enjoy playing the music. If you’re in the mood for something different around the holidays, give this a whirl.

Like hearing it again for the first time

The more interviews I’ve seen with Jimmy Page talking about the Led Zeppelin remasters, the more I’ve grown curious. Is the sound truly better on the original tracks? Is the companion disc of extras worth it?
Yes and yes. My Zeppelin CDs are from the original releases more than 25 years ago. This presented a good opportunity to get better audio quality. I’m one who always appreciate the acoustic nature of Zep III and made sure that this was one of the first Deluxe Editions I acquired.
The companion disc is excellent. The alternate and rough takes prompt you to almost hang on each note to detect what’s different. Doesn’t matter if you prefer that or the finished version because it causes true fans to hear the music again for the first time. My favorites are the tunes like Friends with no vocals. Jennings Farm Blues and Key to the Highway are worth it, too. These are cheap enough to make them accessible and a more than reasonable addition to a true fan’s collection.
The packaging is cool, too, especially for this particular release as they’ve been able to replicate the die-cut cover art and wheel. Enjoy!

I feel like a kid again - BUY IT!

I’ve had the Zeppelin catalogue on CD for more than 25 years and never got swept up in the remasters and rereleases – until now. The promise of better sound combined with a companion disc was enough to lure me in. Perhaps it was the psychedelic interpretations of the album artwork that signified “Hey, this is different. Give it a try.”
The first disc is the original tunes in the original order. The sound is good, but I haven’t been able to crank it up or listen with headphones for a true test. One thing I can tell is that the bass is nice and heavy, and it’s certainly no worse than before.
The treat is the second disc. Some of the rough/alternate versions are interesting enough to perk up your ears. We’ve heard these songs so many times that anything slightly different forces you to pay attention. My favorites, though, are the backing tracks without vocals. Nothing against Robert Plant, but being able to hear the majesty of music without the extra layer of singing helps you to appreciate the intricacies, timing, pauses, and groove in a whole new way.
My only gripe is that the packaging is a bit flimsy. I had hoped for something more substantial than the cardboard sleeves. As soon as I opened the package, one of the corners had already bent. With so much effort and attention paid to these releases, better packaging would have put it way over the top.
If you’re a fan, then you’ll likely want to add these to your collection!

If you’re a Stones fan, then you’ll want this!

A very satisfying release from Keith with his long-time backing band. The licks and voice sound familiar and the drums sound so much like Charlie Watts’ that you’ll think you’re listening to The Rolling Stones. He still has swagger and style as well as some cheeky lyrics. Fingers crossed that he saved some ideas for the possible Stones’ return to the studio.
