Nice but some issues
on June 29, 2017

I loved this thing until it was time to go to bed. Although it dims, the lowest setting is still very bright--like sleeping with a flashlight in your face. I hope they make fixes that will allow the screen to dim more. Also, not crazy about having a camera connected to the Internet on my nightstand. If you cover it up, the motion sensor then won't work. The sound is OK--not quite as good as the non-screen Echo--maybe because it's not omni-directional like the regular Echo. My enthusiasm for this device has subsided quite a bit because of these issues.

Stylish, competent smart watch
on April 7, 2017

Being an iPhone user, I've never paid much attention to Samsung's smartwatches. However, when I found out they were now compatible with iPhone, I thought I'd give it a go. So far, it's worked really well with the iPhone. There are a few limitations--you don't have a list of stock responses that you can use to reply to texts, and you can't answer the phone directly on your watch, but otherwise, all other functionality appears to be there. I also have an Apple Watch. I like the interface on the Gear better. The scrolling bezel is ingenious, and I seem to have an easier time reading items on the Gear. The fitness aspects of the Gear are more robust than on the Apple Watch. Rather than on-demand heart rate, it periodically samples, giving you a clearer picture of your heart rate, especially resting heart rate. It also does a great job with sleep tracking. The biggest benefit of the Gear is the battery life. I can wear it three days without needing to charge. I did have a problem at first--I downloaded several watch faces, and even though I wasn't using them, for some reason they were draining my battery. I did some online research and read that others had this issue an remedied it by removing the watch faces. So I did the same, reset the watch, and have had good battery life since. Hopefully, Samsung will address this issue in the future. It's a little irritating not being able to download watch faces without exhausting the battery, but fortunately Samsung offers a good variety of faces already installed on the watch. The watch is comfortable to wear and sleep in--it's much lighter than it looks. However, it's quite large, so people with small wrists may find it to be a bit too much. Overall, I'm very impressed with this device.

Gorgeous but a fingerprint magnet
on November 3, 2016

Straight out of the box, this phone is beautiful. However, once it comes out, it's a different story. Even the slightest handling leaves fingerprints all over the phone. They're extremely noticeable, making the phone look dirty. Of course, most people will keep the phone in a case, which is recommended by Apple since the highly polished finish is prone to scratches. Once you have it in a case, it looks the same as my iPhone 6 because no one can see the color. A clear case may be your best bet if you want to show off the beautiful black finish without worrying about fingerprints and scratches. As for functionality, it's Apple, so it's a quality product. The camera is great, and I like the new feel of the function button.

Great but with some quirks
on August 8, 2016

The Polar A360 is an attractive, comfortable fitness band that does a great job focusing owners on fitness, but there are a few issues that keep me from giving it five stars.
Pros:
- Very comfortable to wear. I was previously wearing a Microsoft Band 2. While I love its functionality, it really wasn't very comfortable and had to be charged constantly.
- Stays charged for more than a week.
- Great display. Can be easily seen in a dark room or in bright sunlight.
- Seems to be accurate as far as step counting goes. Heart rate seems to vary from other heart rate devices I've used at the same time to test accuracy, but close.
- More stylish than a lot of trackers--skinnier than most, so I don't feel strange wearing it on one wrist and a watch on the other.
- The training function seems to work well.
Cons:
- Setup can be a pain. It comes set on a 24-hour clock (so that 8:10 p.m. reads 20:10). There is no way to change this either on the A360 or on the mobile device you have it linked to. You have to hook your A360 up to a computer, access the Polar Flow website, make the change there, and then sync. And there's nothing that tells you how to do this--I had to search for an answer on the web.
- You can't manually set your steps. You simply select what you think your activity level is, and it sets a goal level and tracks your progress by percentage of goal. I would rather be able to simply select how many steps I would like as my goal.
- It doesn't do continuous heart rate tracking, so you can't determine what your resting heart rate is. This is a plus and minus--a plus because not having it on all the time keeps from draining the battery, but a minus in functionality.
- The band is not that easy to get on and off. You must fit the prongs through a buckle, which takes some dexterity. However, so far it seems to be staying on securely.
Overall, I would recommend this product if continuous heart rate monitoring isn't something you're that concerned about.

Poor quality materials

While functionality is fine, this device must have the worst band of any fitness tracker on the market. It doesn't wear well, looking smudged and worn after limited use, and as reported by many, it begins cracking in a few months. Extremely flawed designed. Perhaps the Band 3 will address the failings of this device.

Good but some issues

The Vivoactive HR is an all-encompassing fitness tracker that offers a variety of functionality. The step counter seems fairly accurate, and heart rate monitor allows for constant monitoring, resting heart rate tracking, and exercise tracking. Although rather large, it's comfortable. I wear it 24/7 and have had no problems with comfort. However, there are some issues with this watch. The screen works really well in sunlight and brightly lit rooms, but when you need to use the backlight, it gets a little hard to read. There seems to be no backlight setting that makes it easy to see in a more dimly lit room. You can change the band if you want a different look, but there are two issues with that. For one, you have to use two screwdrivers, one on each end of the pin, and turn them in opposite directions. This takes exceptional dexterity to perform. The second issue is that for some bizarre reason, Garmin only offers three unattractive additional band colors--a reddish orange, a neon yellow-green, and white. What about blue or a true red color? The major drawback with this device is the sleep tracking. It seems to have a lot of difficulty in distinguishing between sleep and simply settling down and watching television at night. it usually shows I'm getting a couple of hours more sleep than I actually do. I've used Fitbit and Misfit before, and I've had no problems with their sleep tracking. So it's unacceptable for a device costing this much to perform so poorly in that area. This was almost a deal breaker, but since I'm more focused on tracking activity than sleep, I've just come to terms with the fact that I can't rely on the sleep tracking function. This isn't the most attractive device--it's basically a black plastic rectangle. Polar and Fitbit offer similar products that are more stylish.

Nest Protect reliably detects and alerts you to the presence of smoke or carbon monoxide in your home. The alarm speaks to you in a calm, clear, human voice, telling you the location of the danger. It also provides smartphone alerts and battery status updates to help protect your home. This hardwired version is suitable for homes with existing hardwired smoke or CO detectors.

Easy to install

While this is a little pricey, especially when you are replacing several smoke detectors in your home, they are very easy to install and provide peace of mind knowing that you will get a notification on your phone if something happens while you're away from home. The nightlight feature is nice, and I'm glad it can be turned off for individual units because I certainly don't want this coming on every time I turn over in my bed.

As a Black Friday purchase, I picked this up for an incredible price, but would have no problem paying full price after seeing and hearing it. Very high-quality look, and it does a great job paired with my Martin Logan Crescendo. Very adjustable, so you can go from mild bass to booming thumps.

Don't do it!
By SeanO
I got one of the 1st 6+s and put this case on it right away. Loved how it looked and "protected" the screen. It damages your screen! It will leave 2 diagonal marks where the stitching for the credit card slots rubs the phone. I have yet to find anything that will restore the phone- the marks keep coming back. Its a shame that the only defects on my phone were caused by the device I purchased to protect it.

The exact same thing happened to me, except I at least had a screen protector on my phone. It caused scratching on the protector. I removed the stitching (which was easy) and I think that fixed the problem.

Connecting the sub

My receiver has a single RCA sub pre out. This sub has left and right ins. What's the best way to connect to my receiver?
For most setups, you would hook it into the left in on the sub.
