I thought this would be a good lightweight portable tripod for my Canon Rebel SL1, Canon's smallest DSLR. My biggest lens is the kit 70-300. But even with a 50mm or the smaller kit 18-55mm, neither the tripod ball head nor the plate the camera sits on will stay fixed in place. Most of the time I shoot in manual using back button focus and once focused I can watch my framing & focus point change as the head or plate start to drift down/move – especially awful for longer exposures. I wish I had invested in a better quality tripod and cannot recommend this. It is so unstable due to the skinniness of the bottom pieces that even a gentle wind causes wobbling. It's also very awkward to adjust the head from horizontal to vertical position as there's a piece that gets in the way. Nothing but frustration.
Constructed from polyurethane material, this Modal MD-PDM2P case offers protective covering for the front and back of your Apple iPad mini 2 or iPad mini 3 for reliable on-the-go protection. Multiple viewing angles allow customizable hands-free use.

First off this is long because I hope I can help others as it was hard to find a good case. I looked in person at everything available (not much) in Best Buy, the Apple store, Peach Mac, and various office supply stores. I tested my iPad mini Retina in many cases - some made for original Mini claim to fit Retina, and every salesperson I encountered reinforced that, however they do NOT fit the slightly thicker Retina mini and don't have the add'l back camera opening. I viewed online reviews for name brand covers; all have drawbacks (e.g. Speck has no magnetic/sleep feature, some have only a steep prop angle, some are bulky.) I watched YouTube reviews. This Modal was a surprise find in store and works. It's super lightweight w/a good fit. Cover closes well and magnet/ sleep -wake feature works. Cutouts are precise; sound isn't affected that I can tell. Case has 3+ positions and they are fairly stable. Getting the tab firmly inserted in the slot opening at back of case for those stand positions that need it can be tricky (see pic) but you can just flip the flap the opposite way, along with the iPad, to avoid that. (Both shown in pic). That narrow slot in the back of the case unfortunately exposes the back of your iPad to dirt or liquid. My biggest complaint is that the covers for the Volume up/down buttons are hard to find by touch as they barely protrude and are tucked under the beveled edge of the lip, but of course you can use control panel instead. Another issue that's worrisome is that a few small debris bits that got right up against the lip of the case along the screen were ground by the cover into the tight crevice where the glass meets the iPad's back, and were hard/impossible to clean out. That said, the lip protrudes just enough to provide protection for the screen if you were to lay it face down. I don't have a screen protector yet so can't comment on how the case lip pushes against the edge of that as some complain. It's comfortable to fold the cover back and hold in folio position without hand strain like some heavier cases. I saw an Apple $79 case in store that was open box but new, and the red leather cover already had black edges from minor handling. After a week of use my synthetic Modal looks new. Still, the charcoal might be a better bet than pink in the long term; wish there were more colors. It's not heavy duty protection but decent for normal use. I think the lip should be resized to cover a millimeter more of screen glass, and not align with that crevice and any screen protector edge.

What's great about it: Fits well, lightweight, multiple viewing angles
What's not so great: Volume button covers are hard to find by feel; case integrity compromised by opening in back for stand tab

Problem with HD Intel Graphics Driver
ByPN15
I received this laptop Nov 16, 2015. I really like most aspects of the computer. It is light weight, boots up quickly and runs programs like matlab smoothly. However, from the day I got it I have had problems with browsing graphic heavy sites and streaming from sites like youtube. When I am on these sites, the internet seems to slow down and then I get an error message saying, "Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 8 (R) stopped responding and has recovered." I updated the driver and the problem improved but still occurs occasionally. I am in two minds about returning the computer, but will probably return it.
The tablet mode is not practical as the computer is just too big.

Same issue
February 22, 2016
Purchased this Jan 15th, had issues out of the box, updated everything including the graphics driver that Acer had available on their website. Problem occurs less frequently but still happens. From lots of research online it appears that all the manufacturers are having this issue with this Intel chip and only some have updated their specific OEM custom driver to fix this. Acer still has not :-(. Nobody on the Acer forums was of any help nor was customer service. Not sure whether to return laptop or not because its occurring with other brands as well with less specs for more money.
