A mechanic in the British drug trade finds himself caught in the middle of some dangerous circumstances in this crime thriller. XXXX (Daniel Craig) is a nameless go-between in the British mob who buys drugs from underground wholesalers and them sells them to street dealers, keeping the system flowing and making a tidy profit in the process. XXXX is looking forward to getting out of the game, and has displayed both smarts and caution in how he's handled his business, but before his overseer Jimmy Price (Kenneth Cranham) will let him go, he has a couple of favors that need to be done. First, Eddie Temple (Michael Gambon) is a mob boss whose daughter has gotten hooked on hard drugs and run away from home; Jimmy needs XXXX to find them girl and bring her to him before Eddie's men can get hold of her. Second, Dragan (Dragan Micanovic) is a Ecstasy wholesaler who has had a large shipment stolen by Duke (Jamie Foreman); Jimmy wants XXXX to get the Ecstasy back to Dragan, but Duke isn't eager to sell and Dragan is becoming impatient. Between these two matters, XXXX isn't so sure he'll get out of the business alive, especially after he finds himself falling for Duke's nephew's girlfriend, Tammy (Sienna Miller). Layer Cake marked the directorial debut for Matthew Vaughn, best known as a producer for Guy Ritchie's lad-centric crime movies. The Blu-Ray DVD release includes a bucket of extras, including deleted scenes, multiple alternate endings, a behind-the-scenes featurette, plus a Q&A with the director and actor Daniel Craig, along with a director and writer's commentary.

A Great Film!

Layer Cake.....Wow! I'll be honest, I never heard of this film until I was recently browsing movies at my local Best Buy. It was only $9.99 so I decided I'd blind buy it. Just reading the sleeve, I was intrigued. So glad I bought this blu ray. From what I've heard, Daniel Craig was offered the role of James Bond after this film with no auditions or anything. That alone tells you how on point the acting was. Every aspect of this film is awesome. Great plot with great delivery, great acting, and an overly awesome cast. Everyone plays their roles as if it was their last film. The story is great and kept me on the edge of my seat with suspense. Layer Cake has that perfect blend of drama, thriller, action, and comedic moments. The blu ray also has impeccable audio and video quality. The notes of the introductory music pan between the front and surround channels in such an awesome way, letting you know you're in for a ride with the audio department. I've only watched Layer Cake once so far, but I know I'll be enjoying this film over and over again with its high replay value. Buy this film!

Great Idea but not Delivered
on October 11, 2013

In this day of age, original horror films are hard to come by. It seems as if the same ideas keep getting recycled over and over again. When I first heard of The Purge, I was excited. It's story was something fresh and original. Unfortunately after seeing the film, that excitement was quickly dismissed. The story was a great idea but failed to deliver. It just didn't work. It needed something more. I believe with a better plot, The Purge could of been a classic. I was honestly dissapointed I purchased this film. It has no replay value what so ever. Watching it once is enough, after that there's really no point. As far as audio and video quality are concerned with the blu ray, Ths Purge delivers. Picture is clear and the blacks look good. The surround speakers do their job with great accuracy and good atmospheric sounds. Overall, I wouldn't reccomend buying this film. It's worth a watch, but do yourself a favor and rent it.

Pleasantly Surprising

I have to say, I never gave this film a chance until recently when it was on sale for $9.99. I hated the title and the cover of the blu ray, to me it just sounded and looked corny. I've been on a comic book based film tip lately so I decided I'd give it a chance. So glad I did. This movie really does kick butt! Everyone loves the story of the unpopular nerd blooming , but it gets old. The film really made it fresh again. This is not only a great story, but it's delivered so well. It's exciting and you can really relate to it. The film has the perfect blend of action and comedy. The action scenes are intense and well done. The movie also really shines in the audio and video departments. Do yourself a favor and purchase this movie even if you're not into the whole comic book based genre, you'll still love this film.

Plain Bad!
on September 21, 2013

Wow..... I can honestly say, in my entire life of twenty-six years, I have never seen a worst movie. And that's saying a lot, there are some bad films out there. Every aspect of the film is horrible. The first film, I enjoyed. Wasn't the best film, but it was fun. I like plain, simple fun movies. However, the follow up was just a a sad excuse of a movie. Now I'm not sure, but it seems whichever company produced the film wasn't able to get the rights to certain things. Many things have changed, and for the worst. The bike in this movie is a joke, the characters are a joke, the story is a joke, everything is a joke. This has to be Nicholas Cages worst performance EVER! It made great actors look bad. I absolutely love Marvel and their films but this should of never seen the light of day. Whoever let this film out should be banned from the film industry. The only excuse for somebody to own this movie is if they have a crazy idea of owning every Marvel title(myself). For the love of God, stay away from this film. Don't buy it, don't rent it, don't even watch it at a friend's place who happens to be watching it. If he's watching it, he's not your friend. I can't stress enough how much I hate this film.

The third season of The Walking Dead finds former police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his ragtag group of Zombie-apocalypse survivors hopeful that a prison will offer true protection from the masses of undead. Though the fortified walls do, indeed, provide them with a certain level of security, the group faces a very real threat from the living. Though Andrea (Laurie Holden) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) find temporary shelter within a seemingly Utopian community led by a man who refers to himself as "the Governor", time reveals he is a control-obsessed sadist hiding many secrets of his own.

Best show on T.V. !

Easily in the top ten shows to ever exist, Walking Dead is a must own on blu ray for veteran fans of the show and newcomers alike. Every aspect of this show is amazing. The acting and the story is as good as it gets. Video and audio reign supreme on the blu ray release. The soundtrack comes to life in a surround sound system. I'm usually not the biggest fan of Dolby, I'd rather have a DTS track. But there is not one complaint in the audio department. Video is also as good as it gets for a television series. The show is beyond exciting, and will give you a panic attack wondering what's coming next. This season does a lovely job of introducing new characters that are engaging. The acting is so well done, you absolutely hate some characters and love others due to the excellent performances. Now... the aquarium. Just so awesome! By far, my favorite out of all the limited editions. The zombie heads are extremely well made. They look real! It is the centerpiece of my blu ray collection. Truly a must own television series. If somehow you have never seen Walking Dead, doyourself a huge favor and go purchase all the seasons now. A true television masterpiece.

Simply a Fun Movie

Truly a fun movie. I've never read the book, so i can't compare the film to the book, but I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I was scared I wouldn't get into it due to it being directed at a teenage audience, but that surely wasn't the case. Both the video abd audio are superb. The film was made just right so adults as well as the younger crowd could enjoy it. It has a great plot, great action, and great acting. If you're into fantasy, this is a film to buy. I for one will definitely be investing into the rest of the series.

Truly a Great Film

From the opening scene in the bathroom, you know you're in for quite the experience. Immediately you can tell the blu ray transfer of the film is far superior than the DVD version. The colors pop and the video quality in general is amazing! Those who own this film on DVD already will still benefit from purchasing the blu ray. Not only for the bu ray transfer, but the directors cut of the film as well. Dark City is truly an originally and great film. As far as Sci-Fi films go, this has to be one of my all time favorites and stands the test of time. I'd even recommend this film to those who aren't into the genre. Everyone can find something in this film to enjoy. A must own!

Just as the title suggests, it's basicsly an uncensored, longer episode of South Park. The only people I think would truly enjoy this film are true South Park fans. Sure, the musical aspect of the film gives it an edge over your normal every day episodes abd keeps it fresh, but overall it's not enough. The uncut languages only goes so far. I truly wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone but South Park fans.

Quality for great price

I bought these speaker stands today. Even though I was a little nervous my Sony speakers wouldn't be compatible I bought them anyways since I had fifteen days to return them if my speakers didn't fit. I bought two pairs for my front and surround speakers and had them assembled in literally fifteen minutes. The carpet spikes really help them stay in position and they look great in my living room. I definitely recommend them to anyone who needs speaker stands at a good price.
