Fans of Jumanji who own the original DVD release might want to sell off that old copy and look for the newer special edition. Once again, the picture is outstanding, maybe even reference quality. It is alive with color, while the dark scenes look perfectly natural, without any noticeable grain. The sound is problematic, as the dialogue is recorded lower than the music and sound effects. This means continuously raising and lowering the volume. For the most part, however, the extras make up for any inconsistencies. Though far from the best, they are plentiful. First up is an audio commentary track, not from the director or actors, but from the real "stars" of the film -- the visual effects crew. They create a track about the technical details while trying to keep it as uncomplicated as possible. In addition, there are three featurettes. The longest, a 20 minute "making of" documentary, has some interesting interviews, but little behind-the-scenes footage. The other two, one on the visual effects and the other on the production design, are shorter, but still appealing for those interested in an effects-laden picture such as this. A small storyboard section allows the viewer to look at drawn images of specific scenes while watching a smaller window with the final results. A brief photo gallery rounds out the main supplemental material. There are talent files and theatrical trailers for this film as well as for Madeline and Matilda. While certainly not the greatest special edition ever produced, this will no doubt please fans that enjoyed the film.

I think the DVD video quality is good enough and can not see any significant improvement could be for the blu-ray. Movie is fun as remembered in childhood. And the traces of CGI are not that all palpable.

A classic gem that is not going to tarnish in the face of any remake ever. And I appreciate the fact that they include all the previous DVD extras in this remastered blu-ray version.

THe movie is really mind-bending. And we should also thank Goldsmith for its superb soundtracks. The main theme is so powerful and adventurous. Some other tracks that are meant to assist in what's on the screen to bend your mind are rhythmic and deep.
Arnonld's acting is believable and many supporting roles contribute tremendously to the overall appeal of the film.
Well, basically, Paul Verhoeven has made his movie almost like an implanted memory about a fantasized adventure for the audience. Good pun!

The Terminator

We have seen how Cameron's nightmare become our greatest festival. I personally think Cameron's recent carnival (Avatar) is an annoying nightmare to me.
As to this newest version of the Terminator, I just wish they could have waited and did it in 4k just like the remastered Robocop that is about to come out.

I like Terminator 3, just as much.

The first two Terminator movies did not sell for thier plotlines. They succeeded because they made people believe in the story and relate to the emotions of characters in the films.
Terminator 3 did just fine in regard to this aspect. I don't like Arnold's make-up and I think the female terminator in the movie is lame (compared to Summer Glau and other "would-be" candidates). BUT you know what, this movie allows me to extend my fantasy on the series and there is no big flaw throughout.
Forget about stupid Christian Bale. Terminator needs no "Salvation" !

This engaging comedy may be an action-adventure, but it's also a love story between Harry Tasker Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Helen Jamie Lee Curtis. True Lies incorporates spectacular special effects along with comedy and romance, and it's a winning combination. Sidekick Tom Arnold is just smart-mouthed enough to keep Harry in line and under cover. Director James Cameron has worked with Schwarzenegger in many films, and they all have a familiar feel to them. Bill Paxton as the sleazy used car salesman is also a Cameron regular and perfect for the part. A Fox release in anamorphic widescreen, the True Lies DVD includes a Dolby 5.1 Surround audio track in English and French, as well as subtitles in English and Spanish. The sound and picture are both excellent. The biggest disappointment with this DVD is the lack of special features. The only bonus footage is the original theatrical trailer. There are no bios, documentaries, or even outtakes in this release, and the absence is especially lacking in comparison to other releases that include so much extra footage. True Lies is an excellent film, but the lack of special features is a detriment to the DVD.

Love the crisp night shots in Cameron's movies. Arnold is great as always and True Lies is worth watching again and again. Great storyline combined with consistent cinematography. I'm waiting for the blu-ray version or even more advanced release to come out!

I am a big fan of tron:legacy. This game carries on the cyber-not-so-punk theme from the movie. Although there are not many NPCs around my character in most of the parts of the game that I do not get to relive the blood-boiling feeling in the arena scene of the movie, the surroundings in the grid really intrigues me. I always pause between wallrunning and take a look at the world around me. Just can't help it.
Since the movie use real actors and include real props while the game is all computer-generated, tron evolution does not have the power to make you feel like you have been sucked into the grid even if you're sitting on a furry coach right now. But like I said, the outdoor scenes in the game lures you heart in the same way your honeymoon destination does to you.
Like other people, I would like more OSTs by Daft Punk as BGM in the game. But on the other hand, we should keep in mind that they're two stories and revolve around two protagonists (one human user, the other system monitor i.e. security program#. Thus being said, Tron evolution does a good job with its own BGM while maintaining some important and vigorous reference to the movie.
Gameplayingwise, I can't say much as i haven't played enough games of this genre to be a judge. But I really like the part that you need to choose different type of discs in different combat setting in order to ward off your enemies. And one thing i haven't seen a lot of people discussing is that when you're driving in the light tank #which feels fantastic with a rumble gamepad# you also have the options to choose among the four disc mode for power attack with different types impact on the enemies and different trajectories; this feature is definitely going to be exploited much more in the multiplayer mode.
So far I haven't started playing online with other players yet. But from all the reviews and the videos on youtube, it's gonna be tons of fun for you and me. And i can't wait till playing the online death races#that is after i finish the story mode in Difficult level :-P)

The movies is great because of the soundtracks.

James Horner at his best. I like it better than his work for Titanic. The motives are uplifting and you can easily distinguish specific individual themes from each other, each of which represents an object in the picture: the sea, the ship, and even seagulls (I reckon the rapid beating of the trumpets indicates the appearance of the fishes and seagulls).
Great imagery utilized by James Horner in these tracks. It's almost like walking in a gallery of beautiful paintings when listening to the songs. And the elements of nature and the elements of humanities blend perfectly the melody.

Just as I remembered it

I watched the movie first when I was a teenager. Love the futuristic setting, love the fighting, and of course love the humanistic touch.
Now watching it again on bluray, the story still has me. Not to mention that they have done a pretty good job transferring the movie into high definition. I also like the sound effects a lot, reaching out from the speaker and engulfing, whether it's the sound of the wind blowing or giagantic machinery moving or the input sound of the electronic control panels, all crisp and clear.
My only gripe is that they didn't built an all-convincing set for filming the movie(I mean particularly the base where the refugees hide). Perhaps they did't have that much budget to build or perhaps Paul Anderson just did not have a lot of influence in the business back then and were not big enough to make requests like that.
