Ah Yes, Talk the 1994 cd following the eight man Union tour. Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Bill Bruford left the band to leave intact the lineup from the 1980s. One might expect a sound simliar to 90215 or Big Generator. But there is more emphasis on trying to keep up with that guitar sound of the 1990s. What is left here is an album often overlooked by Yes fans. But there are some great tracks here, none better than The Calling, simpyly Yes' best single since Owner of a Lonely Heart. It has a lot energy from the band showing they can still put of a great show. It is unfortunate this song was not heard more often-it had the potential to be a big hit. The closing tracks that form the epic Endless Dream showcase some of their classic musicianship. There are definetly a few tracks here that are not up to the usual Yes standard. But the album taken as a whole is a great work of art for Yes. I reccommend that every Yes fan find time to listen to The Calling-I think you will be pleasently suprised.
Close to the Edge is, in my opinion, the best songs Yes ever put out. It was unheard of for a band to use up an entire side of an LP for one song. But not only does this almost 20 minute song work, it simply will wlow you again and again at how complex this piece of music is. Yes simply plays their finest performances here with tight control over the madness of music going on here. Simply put, this song is one for the ages. And You and I is a very nice piece that is a slow tempo but sill has that epic sound. Siberian Khatu closes the album out with some very nice guitar work from Steve Howe. This album alone can turn many new fans on to Yes. This is a must have cd for any fans of great musicianship.
This was one of their best, if not their best, album. Roundabout alone makes this cd worth buying. The band has never sounded better here. It is unique that each member of that band played an individual piece here. The great South Side of the Sky, often an overlooked piece in their catalog, is simply an outstanding track in its own right. Heart of the Sunrise is a wonderful track that shows their musicianship at its finest. The Fish is one of Chris Squires greatest accomplishments as an artist. This LP from beginning to end is one of the best rock, let alone progrssive rock, albums ever made. Highly recommended.

What's great about it: Roundabout in all its glory
This lineup of Yes is great as it includes an extra element in the guitar and backing vocals of Billy Sherwood and competent keyboard plyaing by Igor Khoroshev. There is a great rendidtion of their song Homeworld here that is, in my opinion, better than the verssion from the Ladder. A lfew songs from that great, often overlooked album, are played with a lot of pop and energy here. You can tell that Yes is really well rehearsed and excited to play this concert. There is a good mix of songs representing the different eras of their career. The song mix is great and the extra dimensions that Sherwood and Khoroshev provide help to seperate the performances of the old classics to stand out. This is one of the better recodrings from the late period in Yes' career. A great cd that offers a lot of nice performances.

What's great about it: Yes still rocks so late into their career
What's not so great: A few of the songs are played too slowly
This cd is great in that it starts to show all of the elements that would later transform Yes into one of the great Progressive Rock bands. But they are still working on finding their sound here. It is a nice album, but it just cannot stand with the great works from their later classic 70s LPs. Every Little Thing and Dear Father show a slightly different sounding Yes that has a little more oridany rock sound than you will find on later LPs. Don't get me wrong, its a great cd, but it just is not quite up there with the rest of their catalog. Its a great beginning to greater things to come. Still a must own for the Yes fan looking to round out their collection.

What's great about it: It shows the beginning of this great band
What's not so great: Its sound is not quite fleshed out yet
This album is a great mashup of the Yes catalog. Any new Yes fan would be wise to get this if you want a sampling of both of the Yes eras. It does not have every great Yes song, but it certainly has the majority of them. It is a good retrospective of their career spanning from their early days to their pop rock 80s era through the last cd involving John Anderson. There are some songs here older Yes fans might not be familiar with from the 90's. The Calling, from the 1994 LP talk, is a great track that had a chance to be a big hit. Overall a great collection that any Yes fan will enjoy.

What's great about it: Most of their best songs from their catalog are here
What's not so great: Its still missing some great songs
This was the big break out album for Yes. It has some timeless classics on here. The songs are multi layered and can be listened to repeatedly without getting tiresome. A must own for any progressive rock fan. This is the first of their three consecutive best albums.
My Best Buy number: 550668637
What's great about it: Most of the songs are classics
What's not so great: newer Yes collections have all these songs
This remains the best starter cd for any new Yes fan. It has a great selection of their biggest hits. Note that Roundabout and All Good People are not the original LP versions but are live performances. They are still great, but are very different from the LP versions.
This album exceeded all of my expectations at what this band could accomplish in their golden years. This is progressive rock at its finest. Every member of the band shows up and does some of their best work here. The Fly From Here Suite, Into the Storm, and Life on a Film Set are the best songs here. Strongly reccomend buying this for any rock fan out there.
