An impressive package by the folks over at Criterion. Encased in a thick cardboard package, this edition contains a hefty booklet filled with little quips, facts, and essays about the film. An essential coming of age film that celebrates the 70's music scene and the universal age of rebellion.
A cinematic exercise in strange excellence. Overwhelmingly psychedelic perfectly suited for Terry Gilliam fans. Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro turn in inspired performances as a destructive duo living out the American dream in a drug induced haze within the confines of the Las Vegas strip.
The performance by slithery character actor Peter Lorre who turns in a maniacal performance as the films villain makes it worth seeing. The components are pure Hitchcock in every sense.
Good film for seekers of strange cinema and appealing to horror aficionados. May seem incoherent, but their could be meaning hidden within the inventive craziness and satisfying to those who are looking for weird fun.
A must for Malick fans especially now that his entire filmography will be available on blu-ray (he's got a new film playing in theaters and will be made available later this year).
