Since we're obviously in the pre-order season I only had a chance to play with the phone at the store. I currently own an s7 Edge and I can't wait to get the s8+ I pre-ordered. Both s8s look really sharp, especially the black one. The camera and display are outstanding. The phone feels great while holding, no issues with that. Even though the fingerprint sensor is on the back, I found it to be more convenient. If the phone sits on a desk and needs to be unlocked, you can use a PIN, password or Iris scan. The new UI looks great too, i.e. launcher and other areas. In fact, I found the s8 launcher apk published in many sites and installed it on my s7. The performance was great and fast at launching apps. I love the fact that the curved edges are not as curved. The s8+ it is a bit more expensive, but BestBuy will give you $100 credit, at least with VZW. Very excited and anxious to get it!
Jawbone UP3 Activity Tracker: With plenty of innovative features, the Jawbone UP3 provides you with a full picture of your health. The UP3 is smaller than I thought it'd be and I really like it! The app is great and I really like its features too, especially the alarm and reminders. People complain about the fact that it only takes the resting heart rate, but that was a known fact. Jawbone mentioned it'd work on sending an update to enable constant heart rate tracking. Measurements seem accurate and it's been guess what I'm doing, especially during te times I'm at the gym on an elliptical machines or weight lifting. The wake/sleep mode can be enabled through the app or by double tapping on the top of the UP3. The double tapping is tricky. It seems to work most of the time with a soft tap, but in other cases it does't even respond. The band needs to be adjusted at least once a day because it loosens up a bit. The clasp is a concern because it can come off and the UP3 can simply drop off from your wrist without you noticing. I wish it has some sort of secure piece like some watches do. As most of the reviews point out, the design is its biggest flaw, but only when it comes to secure it on your wrist. Otherwise, it is nice, small, stylish. Getting used to wearing was a matter of a day or two. Spending $180 on it may be not worth it as I read multiple times, but that was mentioned only because it doesn't have a constant HR monitoring feature. On the other hand Jawbone is planning to add it in the future. Would I recommend to a friend? Difficult to answer. I can't say "yes" go for it, or "no" stay away from it. I took the risk of buying it in spite of all the negative comments and low rated reviews. I did a lot of reading before I bought it. I concur with some of the reviews and not with others. I would say that if you were really waiting for it and wanna give it a shot, go get it and try it for a couple of weeks. If the design flaws annoy the heck out of you, simply return it. I thought about the UP2, BUT it has the same type of band and clasp.
