View files or videos in custom positions with this HP Envy x360 laptop. The hinge lets you lay the computer flat, fold it for use as a tablet or prop the screen at angles to enhance your viewing experience. When you aren't streaming videos on this HP Envy x360 laptop, convert it to a traditional position for standard keyboarding action.

Wanted to like the laptop
on March 29, 2017

I really wanted to like this 2 in 1 laptop, but ended up returning it.
Pros:
1) Rather snappy for having a HD instead of SSD drive. Roomy 1TB.
2) Nice keyboard, trackpad, sound, backlit keyboard with numerical keypad.
3) Decent sound from speakers
4) Usb c, Usb a (3.0), SD card, HDMI - all the normal ports are there
5) Good placement on power on button so that you don't accidentally hit the power button when converting the laptop into a tablet.
Cons:
1) Loud fan - running even when doing nothing - when watching flash videos, the fan is quite loud - main reason for returning the laptop. I think that the AMD processor with discrete graphics card is to blame.
2) Horrible power adapter design - the plug into the laptop is at a 90 degree angle - could easily be broken off if not careful.
3) Slow recharging of battery.
4) Installed Chrome, but could not watch Flash videos from Dramafever. Probably because of the discrete graphics card's driver - not updated properly for Windows 10
Really wanted to like this laptop, but it is just not up to snuff.

Know what you are getting
on March 6, 2015

Pros:
1) Crisp screen - full HD (1080p). Responsive touchscreen
2) Good, loud sound
3) New i5 - 5th generation processor
4) Good trackpad, keyboard
5) WIFI works well (AC)
6) Both RAM and HD are upgrade-able.
Cons:
1) Cooling fans can kick in at various times and then shuts off: waking from sleep, watching flash videos, surfing internet. This became too annoying for me to put up with.
2) Backlighting keyboard will come on after waking from sleep (even if it wasn't on before).
3) Although crisp screen, its brightness is just o.k. Could have problem if you want to use it in daylight.
In the end, I returned this unit because of the annoying fan.

More to laptop purchase than specifications
on February 14, 2015

Had this laptop for 1 month of use and 3 weeks (so far) at Lenovo repair center.
Pros: excellent screen quality, responsive and quiet, easily assessable components for HD and RAM upgrade, reasonable price.
Cons: Laptop has a Wifi recall on certain models (mine was recalled - purchased in Nov 2014), absolutely terrible customer service (can't find parts to replace defective WIFI, they offered a refund through higher level management - however no response to email and phone communication with higher management to find status of refund (no response to email and phone messages), chat line support doesn't work - I'm still waiting for the status of my refund - not sure when or if it will come), trackpad can be a little strange because of the large buttons areas.
Because of the bad customer support, I will avoid Lenovo products in the future. There's more to a computer than good design and specifications (reliability and support are top priority to build a loyal customer base).

Decent for a low priced laptop
on February 2, 2015
Posted by: MacNut

Pros: inexpensive, 15inch, Core i5, not too heavy, decent keyboard, quiet and cool.
Cons: Can seem sluggish at times (esp. when updating in background), Precision trackpad doesn't have any adjustment for two finger scrolling speed, screen is bright but not vivid, only has 4GB RAM and 5400 rpm HD (system can be upgraded, but laptop is difficult to open and change out components), caps lock on keyboard has no light indicator to let you know if it is on/off, no back lighting on keyboard, has to press the Fn key to make changes to screen brightness and sound
Conclusion: I bought this computer for $400 and it is worth it at that price.

Returned twice
on December 6, 2014
Posted by: MacNut

Feature wise, this all in one has many positives:
1) 8G RAM, 1TB HD, HDMI out and in, built-in battery, good screen
Why two stars?
1) First returned unit was DOA - will not boot up at all
2) 2nd returned unit randomly shuts down, powered itself off completely when entering sleep mode (loss of data). Once it booted into CMOS by itself. There seems to be a quality issue involved.
3) Windows 8.1 screen dimming function via the Charm Bar doesn't work. I suspect that the reason is the HDMI input feature. There is a button to dim the screen manually in a menu, but this is a pain.

Very Close to perfect
on November 25, 2014

Wow! This Lenovo Edge 15 inch is very close to being perfect for me. I have been searching for a touchscreen computer for a while. Tried HP and ASUS. Most had some issues or have been simply not good enough (sluggishness, can't properly dim the screen in the charms bar, hardware failure, poor trackpad#. Here's my quick take on the Lenovo Edge 15. I will not spend too much time on specs, you can read that in the specifications section of BestBuy.
1# Screen is crisp at HD resolution with good contrast and viewing angle #IPS#.
2# Brightness adjustment works as supposed to #I found at least 2 all-in-one units at BestBuy that you can’t adjust the brightness in the Charms Bar.
3# So far, no software updates - my unit was manufactured in Oct 2015 - it didn’t even need software update #or at least has not tell me that it is updating).
4) Good battery life.
5) Fast and responsive - and has an upgradable path. Has 6GB RAM but can go all the way up to 16GB. There are 2 memory slots in the machine. Strangely, they are mismatched pairs. 2GB + 4GB. The laptop has 1TB HD but can be changed to SSD in the future. The bottom side has simple screws that can be opened.
6) Trackpad works well for multiguestures #two fingers scrolling, tapping, etc). There is a slight "looseness" so the trackpad makes clicking sound upon tapping.
7) Quiet - fan is on sometimes, but not noticeable, HD runs quiet
8) Has AC wireless
9) Good keyboard with backlight
10) Very competitive pricing. I bought mine for $700 and worth every penny.
11) Speakers are good #but not exceptionally loud)
Minor design issues that took it away from being perfect:
1) A bit on the heavy side - 5lbs #the laptop does not have DVD drive)
2) Slower HD than a high end unit - 5400rpm
3) Only 1 USB 3.0 port
Overall, I am very satisfied with the laptop. I am not familiar with Lenovo, but seems like they are on top of the game. If this laptop lasts for more than 5 years, it will be very worth it. A very high recommendation!

Fabulous cinemaphotography

A good movie if you are into beautiful scenery and drama. Fabulous epic style scenery. The story is engaging, but not totally. The director could have cut out about 30 minutes of over acting and the movie would have been the same.
What's great about it: beautiful scenery, music
What's not so great: over acting, so so story line

Can you tell me what type and size the screws in the bottom of the case are? The manual from HP references phillips at these locations but mine clearly are not phillips. I would guess nut, torx or star but I tried very small allen heads with no luck.

i want to upgrade it when i buy it what is best memory for it?
You will need DDR3L chips. The system has 2 slots, but very difficult to access them. Don't try unless you know what you are doing.

WEI Index

Hello, I was curious on the Windows Experience Index scores were on the Acer. I tried to find out at the store, but they didn't have any on display for me to check.
Windows 8.1 seem to have removed this feature.

Memory

How many ram slot are currently used by the system ?

There are two 2gb ram in two slot ?
According to the videos that I have seen on the internet, it has 2 slots. However, they are difficult to get at. You will have to remove 18 screws at the bottom of the laptop, pry open the keyboard area, take out the logic board to get access to the memory slots which is on the underneath side of the logic board.
