I very welcome return to traditional country without sounding dated. I could hear Tammy Wynette singing many of the songs on here and several others bring Emmylou Harris to mind. There are good serious songs on here like She's Driving Me Out Of Your Mind as well as some humorous ones such as Two Weeks Late. Her duet with Blake Shelton is destined to be nominated for a vocal collaboration award. I hope we don't have to wait long for a follow up album!
What's great about it: Every song is a keeper, no duds here.
What's not so great: With only 9 songs, it is a little short.
This CD hasn't left my player since the day I received it. The songs take me back to the music I grew up listening to...the hard edged rock of Heart from the mid-70s combined with touches of early Stevie Nicks and the songwritting skills of Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl Crow all spun together to end up with a cocktail that is both retro and fresh at the same time. It is hard to say which song is the best but the highlights include "The Lion, The Beast, The Beat", "Parachute Heart" and "The Distance".
Spend the few extra bucks for the exclusive edition because this band has to be seen to be fully appreciated.
Haunting lyrics that will stick with you like "you're gone like the wind, and it don't even matter" from "Parachute Heart". This band is on the verge of superstardom...get into them before the rest of the world discovers them.
What's great about it: The Best Buy exclusive Lollapalooza DVD
What's not so great: The booklet could have had pictures of the band
I attended this concert with my mom and it was great. We were in the front row and are visible several times in the preview clips Adam has released online. Adam's soaring vocals on "Sleepwalker" and Monte Pittman's guitar work leading into "Sure Fire Winners" are definite highlights of this show and could be compared favorably to the rock stylings of Muse. Many may recognize Monte from his guitar work with Madonna over the past 10 years, both on her albums and on her concert DVDs, and know what a great showman he is. Tommy Joe Ratliff on bass is the image of what a glam rock star should be. The rest of Adam's band are greatly talented as well. The costuming and choreography of the dancers enhance the performance as well. This was one of the best concerts of the year and you'll want to watch it over and over. A great first tour from an artist that shows promise to become one of the best entertainers to have emerged from the American Idol stage.
What's great about it: You'll want to watch over and over, great value.
What's not so great: Would like to have a blu-ray version.
