This particular speaker is the longest running model that Def Tech has ever carried, and for good reason. The speaker just sounds good. The speaker is bi-polar so when listening to music the feel is a little less direct as some other speakers. But the effect is amazing when it comes to home theater. Overall quality is amazing. The Aluminum dome tweeters are very precise, and unlike the BP-8020 (the other def tech in this price range) it has a tweeter on both front and back. The bass is amazing, and very low. Still quite punchy. I have them and love them.

Would it be alright to use 100 watt 8 ohm speakers with this unit?
Absolutely. Those speakers peak at 100 watts. In order to be really loud you'd only need about 40-50 watts
