Former members of Hour of Penance... current drummer of Ade... does anything else grab the attention of a technical death metal fan? This band is great and they hail from Italy which is apparently the capital of death metal in the year 2013. Competing with bands such as Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour of Penance, and The Modern Age Slavery... Hideous Divinity stands up quite well.
The album artwork does not exactly scream death metal to the observer but the music certainly will. This band, much like others, has succumbed to lineup changes through the years but the chemistry on Obeisance Rising is perfect. The listener will want more after nearly 50 minutes of death metal mastery.

Grab this album, Awakening of the Rebel, as it is rather difficult to find other releases by Internal Suffering anywhere, much less on a popular site such as BestBuy.com. This album is a nice slab of brutal death metal with up-tempo songs, a nice low-end compliment of bass and blast-beat/double-bass with guttural vocals.
The songs do not wear our their welcome as they average around 3 minutes in length. This album slays.

Thine Eyes Bleed play melodic death metal. The self-titled Thine Eyes Bleed album was released three years following In the Wake of Separation, a debut album that generated a significant amount of hype (mostly due to bassist John Araya sharing a bloodline with Slayer vocalist/bassist Tom Araya). Thine Eyes Bleed seems to have lost some momentum and ultimately put out a forgettable sophomore album. The songs sound repetitive but even after a few listens I can't readily recall any of their riffs or solos.

The Vile Conception signifies a progression for Hour of Penance (that continues with 2010's Paradogma). The musicians who hail from Italy sound tight with their take on brutal death metal. Not unlike their peers in Fleshgod Apocalypse and Ade, the production is crisp and clear - much more polished than the death metal of the 80s and 90s.

Paradogma is a true masterpiece by Hour Of Penance, a brutal death metal foursome from Italy. Crushing riffs, blast beats & double bass abound, fierce vocals; this album sets the bar high for the rest of the scene.
Paradogma is notable for being the last Hour Of Penance release to feature Francesco Paoli (Fleshgod Apocalypse) on vocals.

Until recently Italy was not considered a hotbed for death metal - and it still may not - but Fleshgod Apocalypse is doing their best to bring the area to the attention of metalheads everywhere. Along with country-mates Hour of Penance, Ade, and Logic of Denial there is some serious noise coming from one of Europe's most beautiful countries.
Mafia sounds similar to Oracles but at first listen the addition of clean, almost operatic vocals are noticeable. Francesco Paoli has been tasked with drumming (as well as providing some guitar and vocal work) on the Mafia EP as opposed to his role as strictly guitars and vocals. The musical direction is brutal death metal with orchestral elements present. There are 3 original death metal tracks, an unbelievable cover of At The Gates' classic "Blinded by Fear" and an outro instrumental track.
At just under 24 minutes this EP was sufficient to hold fans over during the gap between Oracles and Agony. Ironically it also served as a bridge to span the gap between the two.

Arsis has established themselves as one of the very best at creating melodic death metal. The band is the creation of guitarist/vocalist (and former recording bassist) James Malone who is the sole consistent member throughout the band's tenure, although he has missed occasional live performance in the past due to non-band related commitments.
Arsis writes fast paced music with constant double bass or blast beat drumming. The vocals are harsh and Malone's lyrics will take the listener through a tale of despair. The album punishes the listener from the first track through the last - and if the Digipak is purchased it offers bonus material in an updated version of the song The Face of My Innocence (from the 2004 debut A Celebration of Guilt) as well as the previously released 6-track Leper's Caress EP.

As the title emphasizes, there is a similar feel to Veto as compared to recent albums in the Heaven Shall Burn arsenal, particularly "Deaf to our Prayers," "Iconoclast," and "Invictus." The production is tight and the songs are a mixture of death and melodic death metal with catchy choruses contained within most tracks. The special edition contains a bonus track and a live performance - the casual fan may forego this material but for the collectors this adds to the album experience. A highlight of the album is a cover of the Blind Guardian song "Valhalla" which features a really catchy gang vocal chorus - this song will be stuck in the listener's head no matter how hard they try to dismiss it.
Otherwise the drums and bass are constant with constant double-bass pummeling through every song and uptempo guitar riffs throughout. Mainly harsh vocals here as they add to their signature sound established long ago.
