Peter Medak's haunted house thriller The Changeling comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include cast and crew biographies. Genre enthusiasts will enjoy this disc, and the film's fans will appreciate the fine transfer, but there is not much here to interest a non-fan.

Classic Ghost Story! Super Good!

I love this classic movie. A cult classic ghost story is what you have here. NO GORE. You use your mind, the suspense builds, the music builds, the few eerie images build you to the BAM!! ending,
Main character, a man loses his wife and daughter in a horrible accident.
Movies to a new house for a new start. Little does he know there was an awful murder in this house. There is a ghost there. It needs help. The main character must help, find out what really happened. What awful secrets are in that house. The house. A ghost house.
A great old classic, they just don't make them like this any more.
What's great about it: Ghost Story, Actors
What's not so great: No Problems
I would recommend this to a friend!

A Real Blah Depp Movie

If you saw the commercials for this movie, you saw all the funny parts of the movie. I was very disappointed in Depp being in a drawn out pretty boring movie. Borrow it, don't buy it IF YOU have to see it. I give this movie a 6.5 out 10.
What's great about it: Actors
What's not so great: Long Borning movie with few laughs
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This gruesome Louisiana-set horror film opens with a 1927 prologue featuring a Satanic artist being crucified and melted alive with quicklime in the basement of an old hotel. Half a century later, pretty Liza (Catriona MacColl) inherits the hotel, not suspecting that it is one of seven gateways to Hell. A workman breaks his neck, another has his eyeball gouged out by a zombie, a woman's head is melted by a vat of acid, and an architect has his face eaten by hungry tarantulas who chew out his tongue. Dozens of cannibalistic zombies attack Liza and her disbelieving lover (David Warbeck), who joins her in Hell in the film's downbeat conclusion. The gory special effects by Gianetto de Rossi and Germano Natali are nauseatingly effective, although the script (by Dardano Sacchetti, Giorgio Mariuzzo and director Lucio Fulci) tends to wander and the pacing is a trifle slow.

A Real Stinker

I like director Lucio Fulci. Good schlocky horror films. When the graphic scene is in play it is always over exaggerated with lots of good red blood.
The few key points pulled out in this description about the gore in this move are the ONLY good things about it. The rest of the movie is so horribly put together. So long and drawn out and boring. I gave this movie as a gift and received it back saying KEEP IT. They could not watch it all for it was so horribly dry. I pushed through to the end. It's the last 40 minutes are so when all the bloody scenes happen, so stick it out and watch it if you are game on this flick.
I don't recommend this movie unless you love the director and have nothing better to do. Kill some time with this movie.
A few of the actors they used in this movie were also in THE HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY by Lucio Fulci, and HIGHLY recommended by me,
What's great about it: the few graphic scenes, director Lucio Fulci
What's not so great: the entire movie is horribly put together and so boring!

This cult horror film from director Lucio Fulci lurches along with a certain amount of disjunction due to cutting, perhaps, if not to an innate Fulci disposition. When the Boyle family temporarily moves into a mansion near Boston so the father can do some research, the son Bob (Giovanni Frezza) starts seeing the ghost of a young girl motioning to him, and eventually he discovers the basement's terrible secret. A certain Dr. Freudstein (Giovanni de Nari) has been hanging out there since 1879 when he was banned from the medical profession, and he has kept himself alive although in miserable physical shape, by murdering the various inhabitants of the house and using their cells to keep his body going. An oversize bat attacks the father, floors come apart and crush unsuspecting victims, and at one point little Bob's blond head is held to the basement door by the evil doctor while the father is wildly swinging his axe through the door to save his son. Scenes like these and others are the real objective of the movie -- the strange and irresolute ending, and leaps and gaps in the plot, are indications that all else is dispensible pretext - gore is the goal and it is delivered in sickening doses.

A Great Spooky Movie

This movie is very simple, ghost warns child who's family is about to move into a new house not to, bad things happen. What happens? Of course the family moves into this house out in the middle of nowhere land. Mind you this is before cell phones.
Husband is never home, work, work, work.
Wife and mom is home to care for the son and weird happenings.
Turns out something is in the house and has been there for decades.
Surviving off the living. Won't tell you how, why or what it is.
But I will tell you, I think the death scenes are just perfect. Not over done at all. Really. Ok, they are but that's why we love Lucio Fulci.
I also have to say, I really like the way they show the death of the child in the movie. It was very playful and tasteful and made a killer ending.
Oops, spoiled it.
You still don't know the main killer-who-why-how!
A MUST SEE FILM!
What's great about it: I love the director Lucio Fulci
What's not so great: it was really a short film, dubbed in English
I would recommend this to a friend!

Save Your Money and Time

I was told by so many this was to be a Great movie like Evil Dead.
Good cheap horror and laughs. Not so. I found the movie horrible, not interesting and not original. Can't anyone now a days make a movie without stealing from other movies? This one copied at least 5 other movies that come to mind - which I won't say .
Laughs? Maybe 2 total.
Horrible. Maybe this is a guy movie? I dunno, waste of time and money, borrow it from a friend. You might like it more not spending money on it!
What's great about it: Nothing!
What's not so great: Not Funny or Scary
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
