Gen 1 player returning!
on December 13, 2016

The last time I had played a Pokemon game released from Nintendo was Pokemon Yellow back in the Gen 1 days. After those games I feel my interests shifted to other things and Pokemon had seemingly decided to get more complicated and complex as years went by. With the nostalgia and fanfare from Pokemon Go I decided I wanted to play the next entry of the Pokemon series and Pokemon Sun/Moon enters the scene!
Overall coming in with only in-depth knowledge of how things are with Gen 1 I was still easily able to grasp the new mechanics and systems that have been entered in. The developer was smart to include some new non-intrusive, helpful systems by showing you the effectiveness of a move after you have battled and encountered a Pokemon from before. That system is just one example of something that is very helpful while not being cumbersome or entirely unnecessary.
I can easily recommend this game to both old fans and new fans alike!

Exciting new direction for video games
on April 12, 2016

I had been following the progress of this game for quite some time and was impressed by this developer's last entry Alan Wake (which also comes with this game in the form of redeemable content). What Remedy has done with Quantum Break is successfully merge gameplay with a cinematic TV experience that could rival or match almost any original programming Netflix currently offers.
The basic hook of the story and gameplay is timetravel and you get 6 different powers to play with throughout the game that you unlock about halfway through the game. The plus to this is you get to experience them early on but the drawback is this leaves you with not much else to unlock except collectibles for the later part of the game. For those wanting the best comparison on how the gameplay feels I would compare it to something like an Infamous on PS4 or Prototype 2 for Xbox.
So some might wonder how the TV stuff fits into the actual game. In essence you will complete an Act just playing like you normally would and then a "Junction" part of that Act will follow at the end which is the part of the game in the "bad guys" point of view in which you choose a direction that Monarch will take. Your choice will effect later events in both the game and the TV episodes that come up right after your Junction choice.
There are 5 Acts in total and your playtime will range depending on if you like getting the collectibles which I did since they added a lot to the stories much like Bioshock's audio diaries. If you go the collectibles route and do 2 playthroughs to see the effects of the two different choices then it will take you about 40 hours or so. If you only want a single playthrough and are not big on collecting then it will likely only take you between 10-15 hours.
Something I would be remiss to not mention is this game features one of the best casts a video game has ever had as it has Shawn Ashmore, Aidan Gillen, Courtney Hope, and Lance Reddick to name a few.
Overall I give 4/5 stars!

Renewed my faith in AC series
on April 12, 2016
Posted by: N3xiumCrash
from MI
So let me start off by saying that I have played nearly all AC games except for the Chronicles spin-off and I did not play much of Unity. The most recent entry into the series before this one was AC Unity and at about 5 missions into the game I completely felt both underwhelmed and overwhelmed at the same time, so much so I held off giving Syndicate much of any chance.
I am pleased to say that I have been surprised by Syndicate and can see the effort that Ubisoft has made to get back to "what made AC fun". The developer made several remarks regarding Syndicate that they wanted to emulate what made AC Black Flag fun but apply it to this one set in Victorian London. Many of the improvements have been in areas that are subtle but they add up. In Unity they introduced a tedious and boring lock-picking system that just drove me up the wall, but with Syndicate they simplified it by allowing you to open all entry level chests and the advance ones only need experience spent towards it. Some of the other enhancements include things like the zipline, carryover exp (shared between both protagonists), and quick switch for the two characters.
As for the story it is pretty decent for AC and if you played the others you know it is heavy on the Assassins vs Templar lore. Another welcome change is the "real world" elements are just cut scenes and no longer missions that feel disconnected and disjointed from the rest of the game.
Overall for this game I give it an 4 out of 5 stars as I easily was enjoying my 40+ hours I spent playing and recommend it to any AC fan who was worried that Unity was the new norm.

Best Gaming Bag Ever!
on March 29, 2015

I have looked for a while to find a bag that is both convenient and built for the consoles and not just a re-purposed laptop or computer bag. This bag has the Sony products in mind with even a seperate pocket for Vita (even though the initial draw is for PS4). The feature on it that makes me like it the most is the place where you insert your PS4 to has microfiber to prevent static discharge and also extra padding on both sides to prevent damage even with rough handling of the backpack. I bought this when it was on sale and wished I had got another because now I could use something for Xbox One or Wii U but neither of those have bags that come close to the utility of this one.

Hope's Peak Academy. For the desperately average teenager, it seems like a shining, exalted house of education, full of prestige, allure and only the most gifted students. It certainly seemed to be beyond reach to Makoto Naegi. But when he unexpectedly finds himself accepted for admission, he thought that perhaps he wasn't so average after all. When he arrives and becomes trapped with the other students in a prison made by a nefarious mastermind, he is presented with the opportunity to prove himself exceptional once and for all. Unmask the villain, uncover the secret of the school — or die trying. Only the most gifted will survive. The students are murdering each other one by one and life in the school-turned-prison is growing deadlier by the day. You may be trapped, but you can still fight to unravel the mystery. Investigate each incident, talk to your classmates, search for clues and more — whatever it takes to get to the bottom of this shrouded case. Your only hope is to sway classmates to your side and squeeze every bit of information out of them to figure out the culprit. The dastardly Monokuma serves as judge, jury and executioner, so you'll need your wit to win — engage in fast-paced wordplay, fire words back at your opponents to expose their lies, dissect each and every statement and more in a variety of timing and reflex-based game systems. The only chance you have of saving your own skin is to uncover the truth. Do you have what it takes?

Playstation's answer to Ace Attorney

This game is has many similarities to Nintendo's Ace Attorney series in which you play someone who has to go to several trials and use logic to determine best time to do objections however there is enough of a spin on this that it keeps it fresh and new. Now I avoided saying much of the story because I don't want to spoil it but lets just say it is a very dark story and one that keeps you engaged the entire time. I ended up liking it enough to Platinum it and that took me about 35-40 hours. All in all very much worth any Vita owners time and another one is in the works and will release September of 2014.

All it takes is the swipe of a finger. We connect with friends. We buy the latest gadgets and gear. We find out what's happening in the world. But with that same simple swipe, we cast an increasingly expansive shadow. With each connection, we leave a digital trail that tracks our every move and milestone, our every like and dislike. And it's not just people. Today, all major cities are networked. Urban infrastructures are monitored and controlled by complex operating systems. In Watch Dogs, this system is called the Central Operating System (CTOS) — and it controls almost every piece of the city's technology and holds key information on all of the city's residents. You play as Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker, whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy. Now on the hunt for those who hurt your family, you'll be able to monitor and hack all who surround you by manipulating everything connected to the city's network. Access omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control traffic lights and public transportation to stop the enemy... and more.

Better than GTA V
on June 18, 2014

Many will compare this game to GTA V but truth be told this game surpasses it. Problem with GTA was a weak story and rather a lot of disjointed areas in the game caused by it being both a sandbox game and also having 3 main characters. Watch Dogs however keeps the story interesting and adds a new hacking ability that makes you play in entirely new ways. The only lull I had in playing was the fixer contracts which are optional but a good chunk of the side mission content. Overall 5/5 and a must buy!

Very great; better than Pulse
on February 14, 2014
Posted by: N3xiumCrash
from MI
So I will start by saying that I own both the Pulse Elite headsets and these Gold headsets. I have tested both and I have come away with liking the Gold headset more than the Pulse Elite. Below I will list the Pros and Cons.
Pros: This headset is definitely a great value at $99 when most others would run well over $125. Another strength is that the mic in this one seems to pick up better than the Pulse Elites, not by a huge difference but for me it was noticeably better at picking up when I chatted with friends. I also found that these headsets were more comfortable than the Pulse Elites and still fit as well. I would also like to note conveniently all the buttons for this headset are on one earpiece and not divided between two. Lastly the battery on this after a full charge will easily hold for the advertised 8 hours. I estimate if you have the volume high and using it wirelessly then you will get maybe 7 hours but if you have it wired and on a normal volume then you will at least get 9 hours battery life.
Cons: For me I don't have a lot of complaints but two noticeable things stick out. First this headset is comfortable but the design is entirely plastic which means that durability is sacrificed in that and these will need careful care from the owner. Secondly on the Pulse Elites you could easily switch between multiple secondary sound profiles (such as for the games Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us) with just a touch of a button. However on these headsets you can only have one at a time and they must be uploaded from the Companion app each time you want to switch (perhaps in future that will be patched to make it more convenient).
Overall I highly recommend this headset to anyone looking in the market for one for their PS4!
My Best Buy number: 0572054616
What's great about it: Excellent price, mic reception, comfortable, and long battery life
What's not so great: Not as durable as Pulse Elite and secondary sound profiles aren't as convenient

Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar Games has yet created and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles. In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on the PlayStation 3 system. Grand Theft Auto V ships on one disc and will install content as soon as you insert the game. The install is roughly 8GB, and players will be able to play as soon as the install is complete.

GTA V expands upon everything the previous games had done and does them all well. The single player alone will give you weeks of missions and random things to discover. I have yet to experience the multiplayer GTA Online as that is currently experiencing issues but trust me when I say the single player alone is worth the $60.

What's not so great: GTA Online is currently very glitchy
