Normally I don't write reviews and when I do it's because they are mostly positive but this isn't one of those reviews. I purchased this set using a gift card I got and I'm glad I didn't actually spend money on this.

The packaging and artwork are the best things about this DVD set. The music, narration, and look of these DVDs all gives me the feeling that I am back in middle school in the early 90s watching this. Apparently, this was copied directly from a VHS tape because on some of the discs the video starts to mess us the way it used to on old VCRs when the tracking would need adjusting.

When the DVD transitions to another sgement there is a REALLY corny and unprofessional title card that comes on screen ... like used to happen when your teacher showed you slides in class ... same sounding narration too!

This is a cheap, poorly done set and if it wasn't for the sole fact that I used a gift card and not actual money I would have returned it A.S.A.P.

If you are a science/space person PLEASE heed my warning and don't waste your hard earned money on this set ... or atleast keep the reciept! Instead I HIGHLY recommend "The Universe" by the History Channel. Clear, crisp, VERY well produced and if you get the Blu-Ray version it is even clearer!

What's great about it: It can be returned

What's not so great: Picture & sound quality, narration, production level

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Personally, I think 20th Century Fox knocked it out of the park on this DVD set! If you are a bog fan of the Alien series this is thee DVD set to own!

All of the movies have been cleaned up and remastered for Blu-Ray so all of them look incredibly crisp and clear but I noticed this more on the first two films, Alien and Aliens. The care and effort they took in cleaning up the films and bringing them to a whole new level was incredible! If you are one of those people that really notices the difference between standard DVD and Blu-Ray you will notice how much clearer the picture looks between the different formats!

If you already bought the Alien Quadrilogy [9 Pack] on standard DVD then a majority of the special features and extras will not surprise you because a majority of them are re-used from that set. BUT, if you're getting this for yourself, or even as a gift for another person, and they don't own any of the movies on DVD they are going to be BLOWN AWAY by all the special features, behind the scenes footage, deleted scenes ... all the extras are incredible!

So ... should you buy this? If you are a hardcore Alien fan or don't already own an Alien DVD collection ... ABSOLUTELY! However, if you already own the Alien Quadrilogy [9 Pack] DVD set then you'd basically be buying this set for the Blu-Ray aspect.

My opinion is that the Blu-Ray REALLY sharpens and clears the movies up ... but then again I really notice the differences between standard and HD definition movies and television ... but if you don't or can't then this may not be the way to spend your money.

Another FANTASTIC Saw film!

I saw Saw 5 in the theater and I was really happy I went to see it. I've been a fan since the original came out and they are all really tremendous movies.

You know, it's not about the amount of gore or lack thereof, no; it's about a good storyline which I feel that the entire Saw line possesses.

Without revealing anything too in depth about the film (Don't want to ruin it for people who haven't seen it) I can tell you that this Saw does a good job of tying the first two Saws together. We are finding out more and more about Jigsaw and how the traps are done and what went into them.

Any Saw fan will love this movie and I for one cannot wait to add it to my DVD collection. If you didn't like Saw 1 or the fact that there is gore then you will not like this movie either. It isn't gore just for gore's sake ... it really contributes to the storyline and if you look deeper and realize why these people are in the traps and why Jigsaw does what he does then you will realize that there really is more to Saw then just blood and gore!

What's great about it: Tie-ins to previous Saws

I would recommend this to a friend!
