Stream media with this Samsung BD-J5900/ZA Blu-ray player. To build a complete 3D home theater system, we recommend you purchase a 3D TV, 3D glasses designed for the TV, high-speed HDMI cable and an A/V receiver that is compatible with 3D products.
I bought this for my Mother-in-law for Christmas 2015, and just found out today it's been acting up for a while, and is now non-functional. Since she lives several hours away, I have to wait until I can get it back from her to figure out the issue, and find out what recourse we have. You'd think that one of the more expensive mid-tier Bluray players would last longer. I have a Sony Blu-ray that's something like 5 years old, and it's still rocking. Good thing my Visa gives me added warranty

I bought this system for a fitness studio installation, because it's a "boutique" rather than a place such as 24hr Fitness, so we didn't need monster sound. This was on sale at the time for $100 less than the VSX-823 which also didn't have A/B output options (although the two-years older VSX-821 did have such).
Got the system all setup (no HDMI connected except when connected to a monitor for MCACC setup), and all was well. A few weeks after opening, I get a call that the system is down. Just the blinking HDMI indicator, and nothing else. Try to remedy it myself, to no avail. We need the system the next day, and every day after that. Our VSX-821 at our other location worked well, so I run out and pickup a VSX-823 because we don't actually need the A/B feature anymore.
Should have heeded warnings about the VSX-43. It's just a rock. Going to try to get it serviced at the closest service center, 70 miles away, unless the Geek Squad can troubleshoot for free?
I have a VSX-817 at home and it's been flawless. Pioneer needs to figure out its Elite problems.

We watched this on Blu-ray for the first time after it came out, and didn't have major expectations. Rented it on Redbox, and immediately began enjoying it.
Besides having a stellar cast, nice mix of super-seasoned, well-respected actors, to new stars, to up and coming rising stars. We've seen them all before, but they did a great job as an ensemble.
The movie worked well as they started showing the main character's backgrounds (where appropriate), then moved into the main plot (or so we think). There was action, drama, suspense, and a few more things to enjoy.
My wife and I liked this so much, we decided to go buy the Blu-ray.
Only real downfall for me for the Blu-ray itself, is my forever contention--content. There's very little in the way of extra-features, but to be honest, in a movie like this, maybe the amount is actually appropriate.

What's great about it: Acting/Actors/Plot/Twist
What's not so great: Couple of minor continuity issues/very little extras

I bought this version of the blu-ray because we hadn't been able to see the movie in the theatre, and this version promised instant digital viewing before Blu-ray release. This worked out great for us, and then the problems started.
Two big issues: Cinema Now (CN) should be called Cinema Not. It worked for us to watch Star Trek Into Darkness (STID) once, and then, we watched some of another movie on CN. Then, we were unable to watch ANY of our CN content, including 30 mins of extra features from STID. To mean, this means I didn't get that for which I paid. I spent 40 minutes on the phone with a CN rep, until she finally declared that there was a programming issue with Sony devices and CN. Ok. Fine. But CN didn't work on three computers, two different internet networks, via 3 diff web browsers, and also didn't work within the CN app itself.
2nd issue: If you read the available "extras" between this version and the other Blu-ray versions, this one is lacking (via any delivery format) at least 40 minutes of extra features. Extra features are a MAJOR reason I buy blu-ray, because my DVD player upconverts DVDs VERY well, I don't really need Blu-ray for the movie.
Anyway, DON'T buy this version for the Cinema Not content. Get one of the other Blu-rays with digital copies if you want all the content, and don't want to deal with broken Cinema Now.
What's great about it: The movie itself is great, as is the picture and sound
What's not so great: Low on extras/missing extras/CinemaNot
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
