Great For The Money

I use it in...:Large home
I bought this as my primary router for a home that was built almost 100 years ago to use with satellite internet service. My purchase was based on the positive reviews here and how it was much better than a router which won 2012 router of the year. It surpassed my connectivity capacity from my internet provider so it seemed like a perfect purchase.
It's been a nightmare trying to get wireless networking throughout my entire home. The thick wood walls with concrete reinforcement inside make it nearly impossible to get signal beyond the front of the home which is more open.
I've since purchased a signal booster also by Netgear that didn't help at all. I'm going to try Wireless Access Points in multiple rooms on the advice of the computer professionals at Best Buy.
Under normal circumstances I would highly recommend this router simply because it delivers specs comparable to those twice the money. I can't blame the range and connectivity issues on the router because this is the 4th I've tried. And the best performing of the 4.
Unless you are in the same unusual situation that I'm in with the house literally causing range and connectivity issues, this seems to be a quality router and the specs were better than a router advertised at nearly double the price which had won an award for 2012 router of the year from some PC Magazine.
You have 30 days to return it. I would say under normal circumstances, try this one first. If you have to upgrade, you have a month to decide. And it won't take a month to hook up. I'm not tech savvy and depend heavily on advice from professionals and instructions for installation. But this was up and running having replaced the 3rd Router I tried in less than 10 minutes.
It's hard for me to give a solid review of a product that is so handcuffed by the home it was purchased for. But the specs, ease of installation make it a great value. If you don't need more bandwidth, why pay for a 1 gig router? This is a dual band 4 port switch 600 max router for the price of half what some comparable cost.
My Best Buy number: 2371499193
What's great about it: Value And Ease Of Installation
What's not so great: Range And Connectivity.

In space, no one can hear you scream — and there will be plenty of screams when fighting the Xenomorph menace. Navigating the tight corridors and claustrophobic environments only adds to the tension, so enlist the help of the US Colonial Marines to assist you in wiping out this alien infestation. Just another glorious day in the Corps. In this true sequel to James Cameron's Aliens, you experience the same authentic environments that helped make the films so eerie, including Hadley's Hope, Sulaco, and LV-426. Any moment could define your death, so help yourself to the arsenal of classic Marine weapons like pulse rifles, motion trackers and flamethrowers. Customize your character with the extensive upgrade system, and earn experience to unlock perks, new weapons, and new looks to create a killing machine that will send even Xenos running in fear. Fight the alien menace alone, or get up to three buddies to drop in at any time and help you fight for humankind.

You will either love or hate this game. If you are expecting Battlefield, Call Of Duty, Halo or even The other great Gearbox game Borderlands, you are going to be very disappointed. You will hate the AI because it breaks the MMORPG formula of Tank, Damage Dealer, Healer and Crowd Control. Gamers have come to believe this is realistic in terms of actual combat. Speaking as someone who has been in combat this is AI is by far the most accurate in the history of video games. You are forced to depend on your squad. Both sides of human AI plays eerily realistic. When fired at or pinned down by heavy fire NPCs duck and take cover. When the opportunity presents itself your squad will attempt to flank the enemy. The human enemies will do the same. If you run ahead you will die constantly. It only takes giving one enemy an open shot at you to have you restarting from the last checkpoint. You have to be cautious. And like those who remember and love the film this game was based on will feel like they are part of a natural sequel to the film. You will be over-matched by the Xenomorphs after all only one Colonial Marine even survived in the film. So you move slow and stay with your squad, dob;t fall in love with one weapon because ammo is limited as it was in the film. You have a small arsenal to choose from and each weapon is appropriate for different situations. The two complaints i have is the single player campaign is virtually unplayable without the strategy guide. No video walk through online is going to really help. You will need the guide to find the dog tags and audio logs to gain experience and finding some of the Legendary weapons belonging to movie characters is almost impossible without the guide. In fact for some mission you will need to keep it handy and refer to it often. The other complaint is the default button to use an item and to reload is the same button. So you can reach for something and find yourself reloading first. So don't try and grab anything in the heat of battle. You will be frustrated at how easy you are to kill, how you have to use specific weapons in specific situations, at how much you have to rely on your squad. You will feel hunted. Short of ammo. You will feel like Hudson ( Bill Paxson ) in the film. And the fact the human AI is so true to life, you are totally out gunned and you never feel safe. You sigh when you finally finish each mission alive. It succeeds in putting you in the movie. You could argue it fails as a shooter. But I would counter this isn't an FPS video game. If you've been fooled into thinking humans behave like the AI in Call Of Duty, and you would like to see how soldiers really react tactically in combat this is as real as any game has ever been. But like every groundbreaking game it will be polarizing. If you want to feel like you are an actual Colonial Marine and see how humans really react tactically and how careful you have to be in real combat this game is groundbreaking. If you loved the movie or have been in combat and have been seeking a real simulation this game is for you. FPS fans, you're going to hate it. This game is also costly. I spent $150 for the collector's edition, season pass and strategy guide. But it takes 105 hours minimum to level up both human and Alien characters to the max. so you're only spending $1 an hour when you add the great multi-player and option to play as one of those overpowered aliens. In summary in breaks the mold for AI and gives you a more realistic experience. You have to rely on cunning, brains, using the proper weapon and your squad to succeed. And for that film fans will love it and FPS mouse pad marines will hate it.
What's great about it: True to the movie. Realistic AI
What's not so great: Campaign Mode requires the strategy guide.

The second coming of Panzer General

There was a company called SSI that redefined the turn based strategy genre with a game titled "Panzer General" for the PC. It spawned a huge number of sequels called the 5 Star General series. Allied General, Pacific General, Star General and Fantasy General rounded out the first installments. Panzer General 2 set the standard for every strategy and World War 2 Shooter to follow. These games still have a cult following online. Patton plays as almost an extension of Panzer General. It even uses Prestige as currency to buy upgrades. The biggest problem with this game isn't the graphics, fans of this genre could care less about that. It's how short the campaigns are. Panzer General and Allied General were both released in the early 1990's for the original PlayStation. Those games have Campaigns that it can take 50-100 hours to finish. While you can play through Patton's single player campaign in one sitting. The only saving grace is that with each replay of Patton you carry over your prestige from the previous campaign this allows you to purchase units and upgrades you weren't able to in either the first or second play through. The AI is predictable but for fans of the genre who have dreamed of reboots of Panzer, Allied and Pacific General this may be the first step or as close as we ever get. The biggest shortcoming isn't the lack of Historical accuracy, it's the failure my the game's creators to realize fans of this genre have been aching for a console game just like this and that our attention spans will keep us coming back to play chess or capture the flag for hundreds of hours. I can only hope this is opens the door to the reboots of the classic General games that offer 100 hours of strategic game play in campaign mode. Get the SSI guys back together and give us the Panzer, Allied and the underrated Pacific General games to give us a huge WW2 General game. When this game hits the $29 mark every strategy fan should buy it. I'm still able to play Allied and Panzer General on my PS3. Purchase this game not just for entertainment, but so we can see a more full fleshed out sequel for those of us who have been neglected as turn based strategy players on consoles. Other than Shattered Union for the original XBox this genre hasn't even been addressed in the last 15 years.
What's great about it: It''s the best turn based strategy console game in 20 years.
What's not so great: The campaign os far too short and there is no DLC.

I spend quite a bit of time playing games but I still consider myself a casual gamer. I frankly don't have the experience of skill to complete this game as a stealthy Assassin and even if i desired to, the mechanism for changing disguises is the biggest flaw in an entertaining game. I can't speak for hardcore gamers. But if you are like me and usually start on an easier setting, you should enjoy this game. At least on the easier settings you can stand and shoot it out with your enemies or play a more stealthy game. It's great in the way the 1980's action movies that you suspended reality for 2 hours and watch Stallone gun down 60 guys without dying. It's a fun action shoot 'em up game with a pretty good storyline and good voice acting. Now that the price has dropped there's no reason for casual gamers not to drop $30 and have a good time whether or not you have experience with action/ stealth games. This is my first Hitman game and the best in genre I have played on this generation of consoles.
What's great about it: There is minimal DLC to drive up the cost of the game.
What's not so great: The mechanism for changing disguises isn't stealthy.

Most people will be tempted to wait for this movie to come down in price before considering a purchase. Don't make that mistake. If ever a film were worth an extra $5 it's this one.
This is a love story in the vein of movies like "Cold Mountain", "Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind" and "Harold & Maude". It only makes sense to the two people in love.
It has the ability to draw a cult following like "The Big Lebowski" because of the clever dialogue.
You can measure how much in a love you are as a couple by watching this movie together. You will find yourself remembering quotes like, "It's not enough time - It would have never been enough time - " or "Nobody's anybody's anything anymore." The cast is amazing even a cameo by Patton Oswalt can't spoil this little gem of a movie.
There is no CGI, this movie could have been made by a guy with a $6k budget and because of how well it was written, it would be the same film. Can you say that about any Super Hero blockbuster you've seen?
This is a love story trapped in a dark comedy set in a Shakespearean tragedy. It's the best film I've seen in 2012 and the best film I've seen since "The Descendants". If you are a hopeless romantic you will wear out your player watching this film over and over.
If you are an intellectual, the sarcasm and dark themed humor will appeal to you. This movie treats you like an adult without excessive vulgarity and no nudity. There is no pandering in this movie.
You will love it or hate it. I loved it. it's far to smart just to like. If you want to leave your brain outside your head for 2 hours, there are plenty of movies for you. Including a ton of romantic comedies. This isn't a romantic comedy. It's a love story that has great comedy entwined. There is a difference.
Buy this movie.
What's great about it: A beatifully written understated love story.
What's not so great: I find no fault in this film.

This superb box set collects four Westerns directed by Sam Peckinpah between 1962 and 1973, two of them for MGM and two for Warner Bros. Each film is a classic and they accordingly receive the red-carpet treatment they deserve in this collection. For starters, the films have been given a thorough remastering job. All four have been given anamorphically enhanced video transfers, each in its appropriate widescreen ratio. Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid also offers two different cuts of the film: the 1988 "Turner" edition of the film, which utilized a rough edit of the film that fleshed out the studio-butchered 1973 cut of the film, and a new 2005 edition that was prepared from Peckinpah's editing notes to re-edit the slacker passages of the 1988 version and also to restore material not in the 1973 or 1988 editions. In terms of audio, Ride the High Country, The Ballad of Cable Hogue, and Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid offer the original mono soundtracks, each sounding crisp and well-mastered, while The Wild Bunch receives a robust stereo remix in Dolby Digital 5.1. Plenty of noteworthy extras are included for Peckinpah aficionados to study and enjoy. First on each of the four titles is a commentary track featuring commentary by Peckinpah historians Nick Redman, Paul Seydor, Garner Simmons, and David Weddle. Each is an authority on the director's life and career as well as a seasoned film critic, so each track overflows with biographical detail, interesting behind-the-scenes stories, and some insightful analysis of Peckinpah's style and inspirations. It's also worth noting that Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid features two commentaries, one for each version of the film featured in this set. Elsewhere, the four discs also include impressive featurettes. Ride the High Country offers an interview with Fern Lea Peter, sister of Sam Peckinpah, that offers a lot of insight into how the director's childhood experiences shaped both his view of the world and his cinematic obsessions. The Ballad of Cable Hogue features an interview with Stella Stevens in which she reflects on her career and how her work with Peckinpah fit into it. The Wild Bunch and Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid are two-disc affairs that offer more than one featurette. The Wild Bunch's second disc includes two documentaries: "An Album in Montage" (which appeared on the original DVD for The Wild Bunch) and "Sam Peckinpah's West," a feature-length documentary produced by Starz Encore Entertainment. The disc is rounded out by an excerpt from a Nick Redman documentary on The Wild Bunch and a montage of edited shots from the film, set to the strains of Jerry Fielding's score. Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid's second disc offers a pair of featurettes, one interviewing longtime Peckinpah assistant Katy Haber about the chaotic history of the film and a Kris Kristofferson interview that covers his career and memories of working with Peckinpah. In a fitting tribute, the second disc for Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid also includes a segment with Kristofferson and Donnie Fritts performing a pair of songs dedicated to Peckinpah. The extras package for each film is rounded out by a Sam Peckinpah trailer gallery that includes all the films in the set, plus The Getaway. All in all, The Peckinpah Western Collection offers four classic Westerns in DVD editions that excel in both transfer quality and extras. No self-respecting Peckinpah buff should pass it up.

This is one of two collection I dream about coming to BluRay it likely never will, which makes this a MUST OWN collection. Forget the extras. The meat is in the movies. And the movies were the first and possibly best revisionist westerns ever made. In My opinion "The Wild Bunch" might be the best film ever made. Every movie in every genre since has stolen "the walk" scene. Buy this. In my preview I forgot to mention on the Pat Garrett dvd extras Kris K sings "One For The Money" a song he wrote about Peckinpah. If you think you aren't familiar with his work think again. In 2011 within a 2 week period remakes of Peckinpah's "Straw Dogs" and "Killer Elite" were released.
What's great about it: The first and best revisionist western collection.
What's not so great: Not available as a collection on BluRay
