Do not buy MSI, not worth it at all

DO NOT BUY MSI. OVERPRICED, POOR QUALITY, NO G SYNC.
I have returned 3 MSI laptops to Bestbuy. First had issue with 4K, than another one had fan issues, and the third one was lagging and loosing WiFi and keyboard acted like crazy. MSI needs to fix these laptops before selling them. BAD BAD BAD

Overall good, but can be better

I really like the MSI GS73VR 7RF but there are few things you should know about it.
Let's start with nice ones:
1. Keyboard is probably the best keyboard I have ever seen and typed. Feels very nice, great space between the keys. Steel series what can I say, the best.
2. 17.3" LCD is looking great with 120MHz 5ms.
3. Dragon Center allows you to do all kinds of stuff. You can change the color of keyboard backlight however you want, you can boost CPU and GPU, MSI tru color lets you choose nice types of LCD backlight (warm/cold). Let's you control CPU/GPU fans which is nice when you do light work on the laptop and want it to be silent.
4. Thin beast GTX 1060 laptop. GPU is great, especially GTX 10 Series that is Pascal GPU Architecture is totally different than the lower series. 0.8 inches thick is really nice.
5. Games run amazing. Battlefield runs great on Ultra settings.
Negatives:
1. LCD need to support G-Sync. I would even pay a little more to have G-Sync in. $1800 should have G-Sync feature built in. Even if it's not there MSI should offer an option to mail the laptop to them so they could add G-SYNC for extra money, a lot of people would want it. For example Asus GL702VM ($1350) and Asus ROG Strix GL702 17.3($1500) laptops have it. MSI should really work on it.
2. SSD that is used on this model is TOSHIBA m.2. I am kinda disappointed that they went cheap on SSD m.2. Instead of puttin Samsung Pro 960 like they did on the same model but with 4k ($2200) they put Toshiba. Can't really complain because it still runs very well but still Samsung would be much better.
3. Software issues at start. First thing is that when you turn on the laptop the first time, all these exclusive features like MSI true color, killer network, dragon center steel engine etc. are missing. The laptop comes with CD where these programs are but the laptop itself doesn't have a CD/DVD reader so it requires external cd/dvd drive. MSI BURNRECOVERY is missing. F3 recovery key is not working on this laptop because it also comes with no hidden recovery partition. When I called MSI customer service and asked about MSI burnrecovery been missing all they said that I would have to purchase disks for $35 which I think is a little greedy on their side. Also you can download all this software on MSI website but still come on guys, $1800 bucks laptop and software is not installed. It's not an issue for me because it's what I do for living, but if it's someone that is not techy that person would have some troubles installing it.

Some other useful stuff:
4K displays are not truly nice displays yet. I have returns GS73VE 7RF 4K because it had greenish tint around LCD, be careful when you purchase it and check it out when it arrives. I personally prefer 120MHz 5ms over 4K. This laptops screen is really nice and I am much happier with this one instead of 4K.
I will post updates if find out about something new about it.
MSI developers/innovators - G-Sync is future of gaming, work on it. If this laptop would have G-Sync that would be #1 selling laptop WW.
Thanks for reading and hopefully there is some use of it for you.

Superb unit with a couple minor flaws
By Glass
Obviously with the specs of the second-best mobile i7 on the market, a GTX1060, 16GB of RAM, and an SSD, this is going to be fast. Best Buy's spec sheet doesn't specify, but this is the 120hz TN panel, and not the IPS 4K display. I wanted the high refresh rate over the higher resolution, and other technical review sites have tested and shown that even being a TN panel this produces very good color accuracy and great viewing angles.
It's impressive how it all fits into such a small and light form factor, and how solid it still feels. Unlike most 17" laptops that are powerful, you can easily one hand carry this thing around. Unlike most primarily plastic built 17" laptops, there's no cheap feeling flex in this unit. The keyboard is without a doubt the best I've touched in a laptop. In my limited play time thus far, it's easily keeping pace if not slightly out performing my desktop PC and its GTX970. Haven't had a complaint about fan noise. Simple desktop browsing and Netflix watching keeps the GPU fans off, but even when gaming I haven't been bothered by any noise levels.
There are a couple drawbacks I've found:
Under heavy processing loads, the touchpad action will skip/stutter, sometimes audio will as well. I've read from other reviews that both issues can be fixed with different drivers, but most of the time I've spent with this piece has been connected to an external screen/keyboard/mouse/headphones, where I haven't seen the issue pop up.
The 1TB HDD is a slow 5200RPM unit, which is fine for secondary storage and battery-saving usage, but in an otherwise very capable laptop, it's slightly disappointing to not see a 7200RPM drive. Of course if you're planning on swapping that out for an SSD anyway it won't matter.
The 256GB SSD is a SATA-based unit, specifically an OEM-only Kingston drive in mine. From the sticker on the palm rest, it would appear that the M.2 slot in this is capable of NVMe PCIe x4 drives, but I haven't confirmed it either way. Not that big of a deal, since in real world usage I haven't seen that dramatic of a difference between system performance from a SATA-based to an NVMe-based drive.
Swapping out the HDD technically voids the warranty, but from what I've read MSI will still honor warranty coverage unless your own actions have caused the issue. Getting to the SSD and RAM require motherboard removal, which isn't ideal but also isn't surprising given how packaging all this hardware into such a form factor is an engineering feat on its own.
Ultimately, if you are looking for a thin, light, 17" form factor laptop crafted beautifully out of aluminum that has a GTX 10-series GPU and a color-accurate, fast responding 120hz display, there's nothing else available that I've seen that matches this.

Removing a sticker does not void a warranty
February 25, 2017
I called MSI customer support and asked them about M.2 upgrades and they told me as long as I do not damage any cable the warranty is still there! BTW if you register you laptop for a warranty VIA their website they provide free extra 3 month of warranty to your laptop after you finish 3 min survey. Hope this helps
