I LOVE this lens! I take a lot of portraits and bought this to use in my home studio. After taking the first few shots I fell in love with this lens for the clarity and quality of pictures I was seeing on my display. The speed and aperture are wonderful for using natural light. I found that I didn't need to push my ISO quite as high as I was doing with my stock kit lens, and got better clarity in the images. The only thing I regret is not buying the 35 mm lens instead of the 50 mm. My studio is not very large and I find that I don't have enough room to back up in order to get more of the full length type shots. It's definitely a keeper though, and when I do move to a larger studio, it will surely be my go-to lens!
What's great about it: Easy to use, fabulous quality

I am very happy with the quality of this lens. The standard lens that came with my camera was 18-55mm. I debated long and hard over getting this 55-200mm zoom, or buying the 18-200mm instead. In hindsight, I really wish I would have gone with the 18-200mm, only because I end up swapping lenses out multiple times now on each photo outing. I do a lot of zoom work, but when photographing my kids, I like the pulled back shots so I can actually see the background of where they are and what they are doing without having to be several feet back from them. Don't get me wrong, for the price, this lens is great. I just have to be better at planning the types of shots I'm going to take to avoid the lens swapping.
