Can we have a discussion about vacuum cleaners? I'm going to assume the answer is yes since we are in the reviews section of what appears to be a vacuum cleaner. Now, to me, vacuum cleaners have always been a necessary evil. You buy them, you use them, you hate them, they break, you buy another and the cycle repeats. Which makes the countless hours of reading reviews, going to stores, "vacuuming" the floor of stores, and hemming and hawing over various options seem fruitless and wasteful.
Look no more. This vacuum is the one you have been searching for. This will be the first vacuum you will own that you will be genuinely glad to get out of the closet and use. Pet hair, dirt, food, dried up husks of people's dignity. You will be GLAD to see it on the floor, you will feel a little giddy when you go to the closet to get this vacuum.
I'm sure you're already sold. But allow me to tell you why. First of all, this vacuum is incredibly easy to use. For a vacuum that has so many features, I expected it to be a herculean effort to switch from upright to canister, to wand, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to find it as easy as clicking a button or pushing in a tab.I can vacuum dog hair off of my rug and pop the canister off to get under the tv stand. Slide it back on and boom! back to an upright vacuum.
Secondly this vacuum is incredibly powerful. One swipe over the rug and the dog hair is gone! Our puppy likes to bring in sticks from the back yard and vanquish them on our rugs. I pick up the larger bits by hand but believe me when I say there is very little this vacuum cleaner has met that it can't pick up (notable exception coming later). I also appreciate that there is very little "dead space" at the front and sides of the head. If I push it right up against a baseboard it cleans right up against the baseboard. None of this sweeping the edges the room to make sure they're clean (not that I did it anyway but it's nice to not feel like a house-cleaning failure). The suction that this thing has is very impressive. Don't get anything near the wand or head that you don't intend on sucking in there because it will be gone forever (or at least until you empty the canister). I've had a couple dog toys get too close and I'm sure their lives flashed before their lifeless, glossy black eyes.
And this vacuum is super easy to use on area rugs, carpets, and hard floors. I switch over easily from our hard wood floors to our area rugs. It doesn't even suck up the edges of the rugs like my old vacuum used to!
Now, I'm sure you're all wondering what the cons are. And I would be remiss if I tried to pretend like it didn't have any (but before we get started let me assure you that the ease, power and all around awesomeness of this vacuum definitely outweighs any cons I could possibly share).
-The vacuum is a bit heavy. I have weak arms and wrists and because of the rotator feature, sometimes the vacuum turns in a way you don't intend and you have to bring it back to you to straighten it out. Definitely not a life-ender.
-The vacuum, for whatever reason, has a heck of a time with leaves, especially on hard surface areas. I believe it is because the leaves are so light that the vacuum just pushes them along the floor instead of getting them under the head where it can suck them up. I usually just use the hose to catch those.
-My biggest complaint: the hose is short and stiff. NOT an issue when you are using it as an upright. However, when you take the canister off and run the wand underneath something, watch where that canister is and how much hose you have. I have wounded a couple toes having it fall on my feet. Hold the canister for a wound-free experience. This is also an issue when you put the canister on it's little roll-about (seriously the cutest thing ever) and vacuum. The thing follows so closely behind you it nips at your ankles like an eager puppy.
Now to wrap it all up. Stop searching. Stop plugging things in to your excel spreadsheet and comparing HEPA this to canister that. This is the one. This is the vacuum that you will compare all future vacuums to. This is the one that will inspire you to say "Sure, that hose could be longer, but darn it all I don't care". This, with all it's nifty attachments and buttons and canisters, this is the one that can tackle anything. If you vacuum has died and honorable death, let out a sigh of relief because you get the bring this home and it will absolutely change your relationship with vacuum cleaners.
I would recommend this to a friend!
