It lasted exactly a year and a month

I bought my Fitbit Surge in the store last year. I liked it's compatibility with my other devices and the GPS and sleep features were the biggest draw for me. I still like those features - a lot. My beef with this sports watch is the lack of insightful engineering and durability in the watch itself. It has an extremely high profile on the wrist and the tail end of the band hangs up on everything I slide my arm across. Reaching in the car to get groceries, the lanyard on my kayak, the lip of my standing desk at work (for pity's sake). Over time, the band has torn away on the inside because of the repeated snagging and moisture now gets into the face every time I sweat. I paid $250 last year and the idea of replacing such a high ticket item after just 13 months is a deal breaker. My sister has an Apple smartwatch that she bought at the same time I bought this one and she has zero issues with the Apple product. So, I just ate crow and bought the Apple to replace the Surge.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
