Nice headset, chunky size but lightweight.
on August 21, 2023
Posted by: BillFromKC
TL;DR - The Corsair HS80Max headset is a nice pair of chunky over-ear gamer headphones that you'll want to use for listening to music, too. They're light for their size, they're supremely comfortable, and with the ability to pair to a Bluetooth device, the usage case is flexible.
These are packaged very well. The headset itself has a little bit of peel to protect the surface printing on it. The USB adapter and USB-C charging cable both come in a little box with reusable cable wraps on them.
The headset itself has a nice adjustable and stretchy headband that is easily adjusted by moving its Velcro-backed tabs.
Initial setup requires downloading the Razer Synapse tool, which is a quick download and doesn't use much overhead on even a relatively basic system (these were tested with a Core i7-4770 with 16GB RAM and a Ryzen 5 5625u-based laptop with 16GB RAM). Once installed you can pair the headset with the computer by following the on-screen instructions.
While using them, I noticed that the sound-deadening was very strong. These are not active noise cancelling, but I couldn't hear conversation-level talking or music playing externally. The sound these make is incredible for gaming headphones - clear dialog, deep bass, and it is easy to pinpoint where sound is coming from in-game.
The Synapse software allows you to customize lighting on the headset - turn off the mute indicator and change lighting colors. It's also how you enable Dolby Atmos functionality and update firmware.
These headphones can also be paired to a phone, tablet, or other computer via Bluetooth. It has two modes for this - full Bluetooth functionality, which allows you to listen to music and game audio from your Bluetooth device, and mixed Bluetooth/Wireless mode, which plays music and game audio from your computer while taking calls from your phone.
If there was any drawback to these headphones, it would be a lack of Bluetooth multipoint pairing (multiple Bluetooth devices at once). Not a big deal for their intended use, though.
All in all, the Corsair HS80Max headset is worth the price.

Of course Razer puts out another solid mouse.
on August 13, 2023
Posted by: BillFromKC
The short version - This mouse is both nicely weighted and with not too distracting lighting. Razer Synapse isn't overly intrusive and complicated compared to other RGB management tools, and it pairs well with third party smart lighting systems like Govee, Twinkly, and Hue. Bluetooth and the proprietary HyperSpeed Wireless connection are both every bit as fast as a wired connection, and the tracking is superbly accurate. While the included charge cable (USB-C), receiver, and receiver to cable adapter were all nice pack-ins, it would have been nice to include the Qi wireless charging puck that's available optionally.
The long version - This is packaged nicely and efficiently. You'll find the mouse, the charge cable, a receiver, and an adapter that allows you to use the charge cable with the receiver on your desktop, minimizing the chance for interference.
Install the Razer Chroma software and you're off. You can set the mouse to however you want it to look like - I chose green for the logo and rainbow for everything else. I also paired it to Twinkly, which matched what some light strips I have did to the computer itself.
It was extremely smooth to use. The mouse has the kind of weight I look for, and it did very well with tracking motion during a few fragfests in Doom Eternal. It also did well as a productivity mouse, with its accuracy carrying over to Photoshop.
The Bluetooth mode was easy to pair to a laptop and remained accurate and fast, though I noticed that after a longer period of inactivity, the mouse took a quick moment to wake up.
Only negative? There's a puck under the mouse that can be removed and used for either a charging dock or a Qi wireless charging puck. For what the mouse cost, the Qi option could have been included.
All in all, if you want a solid gaming mouse with almost no shortcomings, the Razer Cobra Pro is it.

Solid scanner
on July 16, 2023
Posted by: BillFromKC
TL;DR - the Epson Perfection V19II is a solid, high performance, and fast scanner with convenient features and a space-saving design. A single cable is all it takes to power and connect to your PC or Mac, the software is easy to use, and the color quality is spot-on. The only real drawback is the micro USB connector, but that shouldn’t be much of an issue for most users.
The scanner comes well-packed in its box, and the only things you’ll find are the scanned, the cable, and instruction/warranty literature. Software is downloaded from Epson’s website and both the Windows and Mac versions are quickly downloaded and installed; this step also takes you through registration, which is painless.
Usage is simple - load a picture or document and hit the scan button. Preview scanning takes a moment, high-res scanning is also faster than I remember any scanner I’ve ever owned being (not dedicated document scanner fast but still very fast). i7-4770, Ryzen 5800, i7-1360p…all were just as fast as each other.
The kickstand is an added bonus here, which means gravity lines up your documents to scan. But why, in 2023, are we still using a micro USB connector?
All in all, the Epson Perfection V19II is a great stand-alone scanner. I would happily recommend this over a printer/scanner combo for anyone wanting to scan photos or a few documents at a time.

Solid performance and great connectivity

The Dell Inspiron 16 7630 is massive in nearly every way, from its 1TB of storage to expandability through its Thunderbolt 4 interfaces through its 16-inch touch screen. While a lack of dedicated graphics capability might be a turn-off for some, the i7-1360p's integrated UHD770 graphics are more than capable enough for everyday usage and light gaming. The 2-in-1 form-factor gives you the traditional laptop layout that can fold to a tablet or any shape in-between.
Getting the laptop up and going with Microsoft Windows 11 is easy enough, especially for those of you coming from Windows 10 devices. If you have a subscription to Microsoft 365, the Office apps come pre-installed, and OneDrive carries over your files automatically. While I think it could be packaged better considering the premium price, the cloth wrapping and screen protection in the package was a nice touch.
The laptop itself is a hefty chunk of aluminum with a premium feel. Like most other Dell laptops, the keyboard is solid. The hinges feel extremely solid and I recommend folding the screen around a few times to get them to loosen up a little. One thing I do recommend is when you use this laptop in tablet mode, make sure the hinge is pointed up in landscape mode as that's where the exhaust blows out.
The screen is great. Nice and bright, rich colors, and decent blacks. I also noticed very little smearing when digging deeper into the display tests.
I noticed about 7 hours of battery life before the device prompted me to plug it back in. That included streaming games over my home network with Steam and editing a short video using Divinci Resolve (which took about an hour from start to finish in 4k/60 format, including compressing using Intel QuickSync and h.264).
I did try this with an eGPU enclosure, and found that a Radeon RX 580 8GB performed reasonably well; CyberPunk 2077 ran at around 37 fps, GTA V ran over 60 fps, and the Superposition Benchmark gave me a score of around 8900 (66 fps average).
My one complaint is the one complaint I've had with every Dell I've owned over the last 10 years - McAfee. That's a personal preference, however.
All in all, I very much recommend the Dell Inspiron 7630 16 inch 2-in-1 with the i7 processor.

Solid SSD for the PS5.
on June 21, 2023
Posted by: BillFromKC
The WD Black SN850P NVMe SSD for Playstation 5 does exactly what you need it to do - add fast, reliable storage to your PS5 at a price that won’t break the bank. The performance was more than adequate, to where I could feel no difference between this drive and the internal storage of the console. Installation was simple, as was setup. Probably the only disappointment is that the stylizing of the heatsink is hidden in the console, but it needs to be so it can run cool.
Installing this is very straightforward pop off the side cover of your console, remove the SSD expansion cover with a screwdriver, and install the drive. Reverse the process to complete the installation. This would be a good chance to clean the cooling fan, too.
Once powered on, the console will set up the drive for use. You can then move games to and from the SSD.
The only real drawback to the SSD is the idea of installing one can be a little scary for anyone who has never installed a computer component. However, I’m here to tell you that if you can use a screwdriver and put a SD card into a phone, camera, or console, then you can install this.
So in closing, the WD SN850P is worth it if you need an upgrade.

Solid vehicle charger for all of your USB-C stuff
on June 15, 2023
Posted by: BillFromKC
The Rexing 78 Watt vehicle quick charger itself is great. I can charge an iPhone in 12-watt mode with the USB-A port while I charge my son's laptop over USB-C simultaneously. However, the cord included is a little less substantial than I would like, so I used it with a thicker, 100 watt-rated USB-C PD cable.
Quick charging using USB-PD works great with both Android devices, compatible iOS devices, and devices that use USB-C for charging or power; even the Nintendo Switch works great with this, never losing power while in use unlike with standard vehicle plugs or built-in USB ports.
The vehicle plug itself also never got warm while under any load, at least when compared to ambient temperatures on these warmer Missouri summer days. Even after two hours of my kid's laptop running, the plug wasn't warm at all.
Note that since this plug is limited to 60 watts, your laptops may give you warnings about not being able to charge while in use; Dell laptops that my wife and my son have (Inspiron 13 7415 and Inspiron 14 7425)
All in all, I call this a win.

Solid gaming performance, good for everyday use
on May 25, 2023
Posted by: BillFromKC
The HP Omen 34C is a pretty sweet 34 inch curved monitor. The large display is bright and has both good color accuracy and solid overall performance. There is some minor ghosting from time to time, but it's not a common occurrence and this monitor is better about it than the 144 hz 27 inch display from another manufacturer this replaced is. Setup is easy enough, but you have to make sure the stand is completely secure to the monitor. No line lump in the power connection is a nice bonus, considering the size of the screen. All in all, a good deal for the price.
Setup:
The box opens in a way similar to a pizza box - cut a couple of seals and one side will lift up and over. You'll need an area with a lot of space to do this, as the box is quite large. Inside the box, you'll find a the monitor, the disassembled base and stand, a power cord, a DisplayPort cable, and instructions. You'll want to mount the vertical part of the stand to the monitor before adding the base of the stand; I assembled the stand first and had issues getting it to snap into place. I also would havce liked to see the stand screw into the monitor instead of snap, but the mounting system does work. You can optionally use a 100x100 VESA mounting arm. Also, it uses a regular computer power cable so no dealing with line lumps or wall warts in your power strip.
The curved panel makes an already large monitor larger, but it makes it better at the same time as you don't get the off-angle view issues you'd get with a flat monitor or a multi-monitor setup that sits flat.
I tested this on several systems and found the performance consistent between them. Desktops were powered by Intel Arc, AMD Radeon, and Nvidia GeForce GTX cards using DisplayPort and HDMI, and all three had consistent performance with this display while running gaming and video loads. Windows 11, Windows 10, and macOS all worked with the adaptive frame rate, which helped both with gaming and 24 fps video. Older titles like Portal 2, CS:GO, and Doom 3 looked amazing at 3440x1400 and the imagery was like butter. Newer games like Doom Eternal, Death Stranding, SpongeBob Cosmic Shake, and Control were also amazing and, while running on the more underpowered cards, frame drops didn't give you the visual artifacting you normally get with screen tearing.
I also tested with two different laptops - Dell Inspiron 14 7425 and MSI Delta 15 (Ryzen 7 5800H + Radeon RX6700M) and both had consistent performance with the display as well.
Things I did notice while doing uniformity testing is the corners do get a little darker than the rest of the screen. I know this is a normal LCD thing but the curved screen makes it more obvious. Color performance is pretty good, overall. There's also more issues with ghost images on bright screens than dark, but this isn't extremely noticeable in all but a few benchmarks.
The one bad part of this monitor is one thing you thankfully can skip using - the built-in speakers. Thin and tinny, no matter how loud they get.
Otherwise, the 34C is a terrific screen for both everyday use and for gaming. It's not the first choice for precision color work, but video editing, music creation, and surfing the web is a pleasure. The video performance is more than adequate for playing high-paced games with clear visuals. All in all, a good option for those who want an ultra wide.

Easy to install and makes ugly cables disappear
on May 21, 2023
Posted by: BillFromKC
Super easy to install with or without a drill. I do recommend using a stud finder, however, as you'll need to make sure that 1 - there is no fire stop in the wall, and 2 - you'll be running the in-wall power cable in the same cavity between studs. If both of these are not a problem, the install is very straightforward.
I used the included t-handle with the hole saw included in the package, which didn't take much effort to get through the wall. Once both holes were cut, I used the included fiche tape to pull the plug end from the upper hole to the lower hole. I used the included retainers to hold both plugs in place, top and bottom, and they're not going anywhere; you can also use a plastic adhesive if you want reinforced joints between the retainer clips and the plugs.
Mounting the plug plates was really straightforward - I used a handheld screwdriver as not to damage the plastics. Then just run the extension cord from the plug you installed to an outlet (or get a nice 14 gauge grounded extension cord with a right-angle plug so whatever furniture under your tv can sit as close to the wall as possible).
Added bonus - the wall plates have pass-through holes for whatever cabling you'd like to run up to your TV. Thinner HDMI cables and network cords work better for this feature, however.

Solid keyboard and mouse for Logitech fans.
on May 17, 2023
Posted by: BillFromKC
Are you a fan of both the Logitech MX Keys keyboards and Logitech's ergo mice? Well, this might be the deal for you. The MX Keys S Combo is made up of the MX Keys S keyboard and MX Master 3S mouse. Both are stellar devices if they're what you're into for keyboard and mouse design.
The MX Keys S keyboard is the same MX Keys keyboard you know and love, but updated with Logi Bolt support instead of Logi Unifying support. This means if you're invested into the Logi Unifying ecosystem, you'll be adding another dongle to use this keyboard and mouse. The advantage of the new technology is lower latency connectivity - you hit a key and letters appear sooner. Charges via USB-C and, if it's as good as the older MX Keys devices, you'll get at least two months of battery life out of the keyboard between charges.
The MX Master 3S mouse is the same way - it's nearly identical to the previous MX Master mice, but with Bolt technology instead of Unifying technology. This allows for not only faster response, but for a more sensitive sensor. The scroll wheel technology makes it really smooth and able to support really fast scrolling. There's also a side scroll allowing for horizontal scrolling. Logitech claims a 40 day battery life and I think they're underselling it - I've been using it for the last week and I'm at 90% battery life left. It also charges with USB-C.
The only real drawback is the included wrist rest - it's kinda underwhelming, but does make the keyboard a little easier to use. I'm not a fan of the silicone-like material it's made of.
The Logi Options+ software can be a little overwhelming for first-time users as it allows for mastic customization of what the keyboard and mouse do. Once you learn this software, however, you'll wonder why you didn't use Logitech keyboards and mice before.
All in all, a solid desktop combination.

Decent but lacking some features at this price
on May 3, 2023
Posted by: BillFromKC
TL;DR - These are decent cheap earbuds for everyday use as long as you're not a bass head. The low-latency part is okay for watching videos but not good for gaming, at least on iPhone and Windows 11. Easy to use, good battery life, and all-day comfortable. No JVC app support for changing EQ modes easily. Thankfully, they use USB-C for the case charge port.
The package comes apart like you'd expect and you'll find the ear buds in their case, a short USB-C cable, a packet of ear bud tips, and instruction/warranty inserts. Make sure you pull the little adhesive tabs off the earbuds themselves and charge them before your first use for at least 15 minutes, as they're not charged out of the box.
Pairing is simple - pull the earbuds out of their charge case and connect your phone or laptop. Keep in mind these are not multi-point audio devices and, as such, will only work with one device at a time.
Usage is also simple. You can use the touch sensors on the ear buds to play and stop music, answer calls, skip tracks, and change the EQ and latency settings. The EQ is adjusted by touching the left ear bud for a second or so and will change between "Normal", "Bass", and "Clear" modes. Low latency mode is enabled and disabled by tapping the right ear bud 4 times in rapid succession. Siri and Google Assistant can be accessed by tapping the left ear bud 4 times in rapid succession.
Audio quality is overall decent. The headphones support AAC audio over Bluetooth so Apple Music sounds good, as do videos from Netflix and YouTube being played back from both my iPhone and my Windows 11 laptop. There's no AptX or LDAC support here, so audio quality on Android may vary. As far as response goes, these ear buds are good for mids and some highs but lack low-end punch. You can tell the bass is there, but it doesn't feel as rich as in some other ear buds in this price range. It does have clarity with vocals and many instrumentals, which makes up for this.
My only real problem with these is they're not app-controllable. Plenty of other ear buds and headphones that don't cost nearly as much have apps to adjust their settings. Had these been app-controllable, I would have given them a 5-star score.
All in all, these are a good value if you can catch them on sale. They're all-day comfortable, easy to use, with terrific battery life between the buds and case. If you can live without app control and you're not wanting a ton of bass, these might be your new go-to ear buds.

This TV has an ATSC tuner.

There's no guarantee that ATSC tuners will work with ClearQAM cable channels, and even so, the greater majority of cable providers now scramble all cable channels. Including OTA channels. Because the FCC changed the rules and they're allowed to do this now.

Big Time 3-D problems
By Mike
I am writing to review the “XBR-55X850C”. HOWEVER, I have read multiple web pages that state this problem is happening with all Sony 3-D televisions, in the United States AND Europe, and that customers are not receiving ANY customer service, or any help from Sony whatsoever.
I have called 3 times and have been hung up on each time.
So, if you are looking for a great 3-D experience and excellent SONY customer service, LOOK ELSEWHERE. Sony rolled out an update for this television at the end of November of 2015. After the update, when viewing 3-D content, the display mode function of the current screen is continuously showing the current screen mode of the television. ALL THE TIME. Coming in and out up to 7 times a minute.
So, while watching a 3-D movie, every 5 to 60 seconds, the words “Wide Mode Full” flashes on the screen in the lower left hand corner. It NEVER stops. Sony is aware of this problem, unfortunately, Sony customer service is rude & unhelpful with this issue. They claim that “Sony is aware of this and is working on an update”. When I asked when the update would be released, Sony representatives claim they do not know when this update will be available.
Every Sony representative has hung up on me after not being able to satisfactorily answer the simplest of questions.
Anyone looking for a great 3-D experience, look elsewhere. Sony does not care about this problem. After all, they already have our money.
If you think this is the same old Sony with great products, high standards, and great customer service, THINK AGAIN! This is not your father’s Sony. This is the new, corporate Sony that just wants your money.
Everyone out there looking for a good 3-D T.V. should stick with Samsung. I wish I did. I thought I was “upgrading” from Samsung to Sony.

Customer service people are never told when...

...things get fixed after they get broken. I have this TV as well, and customer service people have no idea when Android Marshmallow will hit this TV set, let alone any of the other 2015 Sony TVs. Considering the Google Nexus Player got borked by the update though, that's probably a good thing the update hasn't hit yet.

By FortFun2 from Illinois
Found it is difficult, not intuitive, to program. Others have said if you loose power all your programming is lost, but we haven't lost power yet so can't confirm. I just wanted it to run when I left the house without a set program and contacting Bissell just led to more confusion. But, once I got it working I was impressed with the amount of pet hair it removed.

I can attest to this.

Sometimes, I have to plug mine directly into the charger to get it to charge because the battery is overly drained. Because of this, I don't even bother programming it anymore.

Terrible
By Joel
I purchased this one month ago and it has a faulty display. Best Buy takes no responsibility and will not exchange it for a good one. I have left voicemails for a district manager to call me and no one has called. I will never shop at Best Buy again.

Bootleg Copy of Secret Life of Pets
By Disappointed
About 15 minutes into the movie the volume became muted and a message came on the TV that this was a bootleg movie. An unauthorized copy. Be very careful purchasing DVD's or Blu Ray movies from Best Buy. They just may leave you and your grand children very disappointed as it did our family.

This could very well be your DVD or Blu-Ray player
January 20, 2017
causing your issues. The Film Industry (MPAA and associated groups) are known for their draconian DRM systems, first with DVD and now with Blu-Ray and 4k Blu-Ray.
if your Blu-Ray player isn't connected to the internet, connect it to the internet and update its firmware. That should fix all your issues.

This is the future of WiFi
By neio11
I threw (recycled) away my wifi extenders plus I am now able connect a device with an ethernet cable without having to run cables through the walls because each node has 2 ethernet ports. So for instance, I have one node connected to my modem and an ethernet switch. My 2nd node in another room is connected to an NVR for my security cameras. The speed through the nodes is surprisingly fast. The NVR is capturing HD videos from 3 cameras and it seems to capture fine. The 3rd node is in my living room area. The whole house is covered! Please put a password on your wifi otherwise you'll be supplying FREE wifi for your neighbors. I can have full internet access from 3-4 houses away from my house. I thought installation would be a pain considering you have to setup each node. Well, I shouldn't say "have to" because you don't have to use all 3 nodes. You can use only 1 or 2 and give the 3rd to me. haha. No but setup is a breeze! The only thing is that you have to use a smart device such as a tablet or phone, to do the setup. Velop currently doesn't support PC-based setup but I hope Linksys changes that especially for us "techies"!!! It works with Alexa. You can ask #Alexa what the wifi password is... so they say. I haven't had much success with it yet. It looks clean and neat. It doesn't all those antennas sticking out of it which makes it aesthetically pleasing.
I'm loving so far!

The setup process basically forces you to put a...

...password on your WiFi network. In fact, it's one of three things it asks when you set up the parent node, the other two being "Do you connect directly to the internet or through a modem/router device provided by your ISP?" and what to call your wireless network.

Blazing Speed, Best In Class Performance!
By gadgetguy11
The Linksys - Velop Tri-Band Whole Home Wi-Fi System (3-pack) is packaged in a beautiful & functional box with magnetic closure - it exudes quality! Each Node is protected individually. Just looking at the box, you expect a premium, esoteric product... & Linksys delivers that & more in spades! The shapely Nodes are beautiful & blend with any decorating style.
Simple set-up via the Linksys iOS or Android App. Within minutes, you are ready to go online.
As shown in attached photo, I have 90 wireless devices utilized over 5,000 sq feet / 3 floors: this is a challenging application for high speed Wi-Fi that includes: connected major appliances; BAS ceiling fans & Haiku Wi-Fi connected lights; Wi-Fi Thermostats; Netatmo Wi-Fi Weather Station; 65 Hue Lights; Connected exterior door locks; Wink Wi-Fi connected devices; connected iDevices, Nest & Arlo cameras; iPads; iPhones & computers. Finally, Streaming from 4) Apple TV's; Nixplay Wi-Fi Photo Frames.
And now the Results:
Velop delivers the fastest Wi-Fi speed I have ever experienced and does so consistently! The attached screen capture shows 349 Mbps Download / 23 Mbps Upload. These are WIRELESS speeds!! I pay for 300 Mbps Download / 30 Mbps Upload & our internet service provider generally delivers 300 - 360 Download & 22 - 32 Upload.
Velop is the only Wi-Fi System I have found to date that actually delivers this sustainable speed and does not randomly disconnect the many devices.
High power Wi-Fi requires a high current source. Each of the 3) square white power supplies produce 12 Volt, 2 Amp output! 24VA (Volt Amps) is the highest output of any router I have tested. Better yet, the cable that plugs into each Velop is perfectly angled at the plug so the wire routs neatly through the cable management feature at the base. Brilliant design!
PRO's:
1- Fastest Wi-Fi Speed
2- Easy approximate 10 minute Set-up per hub
3- Velop Nodes are very attractive & blend with any architecture
4- Robust infrastructure yields dependable performance
5- 24/7 Support
6- 3-Year Warranty
7- Easy to use App with great diagnostics
8- Wire Management at the base is excellent & offers a wire free appearance.
9- Three Velop Nodes establish fast Wi-Fi speed across the house on any floor.
10- Expandable: Add an additional Node any time you prefer.
CON's:
1- IP Address range cannot be changed from: 192.***. My 2) existing Apple Time Capsule / Routers had IP addresses of 10.***, but they can be set to different ranges. A different IP Address range requires individually resetting a few devices that previously connected to the other range. For example, each Nixplay connected frame had to manually "Forget" the old Wi-Fi name of the previous SSID, then set up the same name with Velop, even though the Wi-Fi name and password are the same. On 13) Apple Airport Express devices, I had to power down each device to reset it from 10.*** to 192.***
2- IPv6 is not supported as of product release. This is surprising, as my three year old Apple Time Capsule / Router supported IPv6.
3- The first unit set up in under 10 minutes; however the remaining two hubs froze at the same exact place midway every time during set-up. After 6 failed attempts, I held each Node horizontally and kept my hand around it. Surprisingly, this procedure resulted in a virtually immediate set-up! Then I set each Node vertically & it continued to work great.
4- Only one Node can connect to the internet via ethernet. The other Nodes connect to the first Node via wireless mesh connection. I would prefer the option of connecting each Node to a wired ethernet connection. Linksys Technical Support indicated this may be added later as a software update. This would prove beneficial because the Nodes must be located fairly close together (my tests showed less than 40 feet apart at most).
CONCLUSION: My search for the "Ideal" Whole Home Wi-Fi System that consistently delivers 300 Mbps over 5,000 square feet with 90 devices ends here!! I am THRILLED with Velop & give it my highest recommendation!! It has proven to be the BEST ROUTER available for 2017!

Mine gave me IPv6 OOB
February 19, 2017
and even so, there was a firmware update it applied immediate after setup. I agree that the IP address range thing is annoying though, especially when you're moving from an existing network with static IP devices (NAS, printers, etc.)

Will it work with Hughesnet?

If Hughesnet outputs via ethernet from it's modem, then yes. You'll want to disable the Hughesnet modem's WiFi connection first, and if the Hughesnet modem has things like a file server or print server integrated into it, those features will no longer work.

Can I use them in Jamaica

As long as the Velop system works with channels available Jamaica and you can download and use the Linksys WiFi app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, sure. Jamaica uses the FCC plan with 2.4 and 5 GHz devices if I remember correctly.

What is the height so I can see if it will go under my couches? Thank you Shirley

It's probably 3 and a half inches high - a little bit taller than a roll of Charmin is wide.

I wouldn't necessarily plan on sending it under couches though - it got confused under my platform bed once and shut down, and was a pleasure to fish out of there.

Can I locate this TV on a screen porch away from the sun and rain but exposed to humidity and flimited reezing?

It's not really recommended to leave this TV - or any TV not built for outside conditions - outside. Extreme humidity and freezing temps can damage the unit.

Amazon Fire TV Stick connects to your TV's HDMI port. Just grab and go to enjoy Netflix, Prime Instant Video, Hulu Plus, YouTube.com, music, and much more.

Can I plug the Amazon Fire Stick into the DVR from DirectTV. ?

I can't access the HDMI on my tv because of its location. The DVR from DirectTv has an HDMI port. Can I plug the Fire Stick into that and have it work? Thanks.
If it's an HDMI input, then yes. However, you're better off to attach the Fire Stick directly to your TV using the HDMI extender cable or to your AVR if you're using a home theater setup.
