Just by watching the trailer you can tell this was made to capitalize on a former child star coming of age and disrobing on camera. I don't blame anyone as young actresses are pushed into this as much as studios are inclined to do the pushing.
I thought it was interesting that it was filmed in my home state of Minnesota. And weird that for a tale of vampires there was not much "vampiring". It works perfectly fine a as dull, purity versus tempting indulgence story/coming of age story. You could edit out two minutes of this picture and it would just be a weirdo pursing a beautiful 18 year old as we are want to do.
Awake is worth the $8 alone, for us old or honest people that still like paying for their music. Other good tracks are not all radio hits nor need to be for fans of Godsmack.
Some books are best left as books, their film adaptations can not equal the original punch as the words on the page. The graphic novels this film was made off of would probably be better (to me anyway) as a "motion comic" instead of the live action story boards they used as templates for filming. Hollywood is completely out of ideas. Perhaps that is why all these comic movies keep coming out, it's easy for Hollywood--the movie is already laid out in pictures and words.

What's great about it: Frank Miller crime neo-noir
What's not so great: actors are good but cannot live up to the characters
First the packaging is horrible. Paper sleeves that force you to wrestle the disc out--might as well ship them "pre-scratched" guys, thanks.
The "collectible book" is actually a pamplet, my TV user's manual has more substance.
The price is too high. For this price I would expect his entire film collection not just the 16 or so films you get.
Finally about half of the blu-rays DO NOT PLAY. Must be a format issue (some of the movies have weird aspect ratios) or I need better blu-ray software. Either way EXTREMELY disappointing that they don't play right out the box.
This is the pinnacle of his music. This is also the only version to have because it includes the videos which he of course directed. The videos match the campy horror vibe that he is known for. His music is very simplistic but the tracks groove and almost make you do that stupid head-bob you see in the 'Dragula' video.
Perhaps his best known hits are all on this album. You could argue, 'More Human than Human', from when he played with his White Zombie band members but you would be wrong.
Nothing that will shake your world but fun stuff. And a must have if your a B-horror movie fan.
What's great about it: Rob doing his thing
What's not so great: if you can't enjoy simple things then stay away
This set contains the ultimate cut of Zach Snyder's adaptation of The Watchmen, a version that cuts the animated sequences that comprise Tales of the Black Freighter included in the finished film.
Really good film adaption of the original "graphic novel". Whatever--it's a comic book movie. The pages acting as obvious storyboards for the filming process, as if hollywood wasn't lazy enough.
Movie stays true to the feel and tone of the source material--which is indeed included in this nicely packaged set as a hard bound, paper "graphic novel". Also includes the DVD and BD versions of the film. The Black Freighter is a weird comic story woven into the narrative which does break up the movies pacing but fits thematically with outer world settings.

Not a bad story, not great either. The acting is good from everybody and you can tell Affleck put his whole heart into this work. I'm not a fan of many of the main actors in this cast due to their political or social activism but if you can look past these thespians telling us they know what's best for ya' then you can get lost in the story. The book, mug shots and other stuff are great, especially if you are a weirdo like me that feel like they need to have the best version of whatever. The studios know they can get more money out of fools like me with these "Collector's" edition but this particular package is worth it.
What's great about it: physical extras packaged within are real cool
What's not so great: good acting but not a big fan of these actors
Enjoyable even if some small details will persistently hound history buffs. Why they had an Australian play the lead in the most AMERICAN role possible is beyond me but he does well in the job. Probably would've benefited if he got back his old Australian accent since that is essentially a 'rustic British' accent which is what the early US colonies were considered. Acting is good throughout.
Picture quality from the BD is top notch

What's great about it: Braveheart in 1776
What's not so great: period accurate...but not historically accurate
Good music. If you have their first 4 albums then there is not much new here for ya...BUT...the two cover songs on this disc are only on their greatest hits and are worth paying again for those old songs. (The cover songs are phenomenal.)
Description said it came with a DVD but it did NOT. Best Buy however made it right and did me a 'solid' so I can't complain.
