Superb Detail For Lossy (Non-Hi Res) WMA/MP3
on April 23, 2016

I am a firm believer in Sony when it comes to sound quality in MP3 players. I loved my NWZ-E463 for 3 years before I dropped it and killed it.
When replacing it, I figured that the NWZ-380 would be a good replacement. I was wrong. It was a definite step down in sound and screen display, so I returned it to Best Buy. I guess the days of getting high-quality players for $100 are over.
I am a picky musician and audiophile, so I decided to go for the NWZ-A17 after reading many positive reviews.
I was amazed at the high quality playback for typical lossy WMA/MP3 files. The depth of the reproduction is like nothing I've heard before. Complex layered recordings of music suddenly come alive with each layer sounding clear and discrete. I am using (and highly recommend) the Panasonic HJE120 earbuds. Don't let the cheap price fool you...they sound awesome with this player and my old one as well..
A few settings suggestions for Lossy typical WMA/MP3 songs:
Graphic Equalizer: Set a Custom EQ setting that brings the sliders near the top of the range (including the Low Bass Setting). Be unafraid...there's no distortion here.
DS EEX Lossy Upscaling Setting to OFF. Makes Lossy files sound flat.
Try setting the DAnce/Karaoke/Language Setting to <Language Study> I got this tip from another reviewer, and it does add a noticeable increase in separation and spatial quality.
CON - The album art only comes through on 50% of the albums, but that's not a deal-breaker for me. Other reviewers have discussed work-arounds to solve that, so read reviews posted on the net if that's a deal-breaker for you.
Don't hesitate to purchase! The $300 price is worth every penny.
P.S. The Igadgitz leather carrying case is the best protector out there for this model.

Great Value That Doesn't Break The Bank

I just purchased this prepaid phone directly from Verizon on April 26th 2015 for $100. I wished I had seen this offer from Best Buy for $30 cheaper.
This is my first 4g phone and I love it! I am a total novice and the Android OS is very intuitive and easy to learn. The relatively large touch screen (larger than an I Phone 5) has great resolution. I downloaded a few HD wallpapers that just DAZZLE on this display.
Unlimited text/call and 1 GB data for $45/mo. If you allow them to Auto Pay through a credit card, they increase your data to 1.5GB/mo.
No contract!

Designed for IPhone-Not for MP3 Music
on May 9, 2014

How Often Used:Daily
Here is a quote from the owner's manual of the MDREX110AP I read just before taking these poor sounding buds back to the store.
"Headphones designed for IPhone usage - Sony cannot guarantee sound quality using digital music devices" "May have to increase volume with digital music devices".
Boy, they weren't kidding...these buds sounded flat from the start. They seemed unresponsive to volume levels I have used on many earphones. The frequency response seemed to be out of balance - too much coming out of the midrange of the frequency spectrum. It seems the trend for Sony and some other manufacturers is to design buds for IPhones and not for MP3 players and music quality.
The construction of the wire attachment to the hub of the earpieces is also flimsy.
I bought the Skullcandy Smokin' Buds 2 and am very happy with them for isolating buds on the commuter bus.
I also highly recommend the Apple Earpods for an open design in-ear headphone. They are the best overall I've heard in balance and sound quality #and I've tried quite a few!#
Both Smokin' Buds 2 and the Apple Earpods can be found at Best-Buy for about $30 each. Very well worth the extra cash if sound quality for music is important to you.
What's great about it: Nothing for MP3 music listeners
What's not so great: Sound quality poor, Frequency response flatened out for IPhone usage, Construction flimsy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent HD Concert! One of the Best Available!
on September 12, 2012

I already own the DVD copy of Moody Blues live at the Royal Albert Hall. I'm glad I went ahead and bought this title. I wish that this performance had the orchestra behind it, but alas the sound was STILL FANTASTIC!
The sound selctions were great, the editing was nice (not frenzied MTV-style). The technical factors of this BD were excellent. Hi Def, Lossless track allowed vocals to remain clear at all times.
I highly recommend this title even if you have previous concerts on DVD.
What's great about it: Sharp picture, great HD sound, great song selection
What's not so great: Tiny drawback...I wish this was the Royal Albert Hall performance with symphony orchestrA.
I would recommend this to a friend!
