This is the film that "Deathproof" is a homage to. This is THE FILM that people reference when they discuss car chase films if they are proficient in what they are discussing. Although this is not what I would call a family film, if you like the pure adrenaline of car chase films, this is one of the progenitors of the genre. A must-buy for the gearhead and car-chase fanatic, there is some muddied waters about the spiritual meaning of the film that one could argue lessens the impact of the film as a whole, the main point of the film is that the main character has gotten bored of the rat-race of life, and does the only thing that still has meaning to him, drives. Either way, this is a great film that requires some context to understand, and defines cult classic.
