Replacing a Yamaha Aventage RXA 1020 with 110W/C

I was very concerned about the wattage difference 110 compared to 85. Not a concern it was evident upon turning it on. Driving a pair of Def Tech SM 55s, and sub out to a SVS PB 1000. The SM 55s are Bi wired to the 501. I enjoy stereo music most of all so I made the change. Gonna let my Sony Bravia do the switching and use the toslink for TV, Pandora, and all my TV apps, to the 501. I know no surrond. But I really hear a diiference in the 2 channel, this amp has punch, and even seems to give the SVS a bigger bite. Using a Marantz PM 5005 CD player to spin my digital music. The combo of the Marantz and the 2ch 501 is great. I have not hooked the toslink to the Bravia yet so I dont know how that is gonna work out. But as far as stereo music from a good source this is an up grade over the RXA 1020. I will miss the networking to my PC for my lossless digital music, but an XBOX 1 will fix that hooked to the Bravia then Toslink to the 501. The 1020 always sounded processed the 501 sounds real and hard, with presence. Thats it presence what we are looking for in music. I will follow up on the toslink when I hook it up. Great for stereo music lovers.

Read all the reviews only issue I see in common is the lyp sync is ouuta place on Hulu. Picture and sound is outstanding with a high quality source. Sound is good after using the built in EQ. picture requires some detail in the adjustments, it is not simply plug and play for all sources, this tv is meant for the videophile, who wants to tweak his or her preferences. A lot of the adjustments are still above my head, but I wanted to future proof my tv for about 10 yrs,. Nflix is up and running, not Hulu. I have no acces to 4k content but this picture out perfoms my Plasma Vierra by a mile. HDMI ARC works but seems to only carry 2.0 stereo, from the apps. It might be a setting I need to tweak. Two updates loaded with out issue , just look at Sony and its history with the ps3 system they are not going to sell a product and put out bad updates or hurry something. They will update and tweak this tv for years to come. The trilumonous display is awesome. Have the 2015 matching Blu ray player and could not be happier. I did insist on a 30 day retuen policy from BB though, just in case. But I dont think I will be returning it. Remember it is not plug n play there is a ton of adjustments for all types of video viewing. I will be behing the curve for a good while.

Had this BRP for 24 hours, excellent speed on loading apps and loading utube , Nflix, and Hulu videos. Pandora works well but Directv's Pandora sounds better. Small remote fits perfectly in my hand for quick use. Tons of apps if u want them. Seemless Br disc playing. Hooked up to my Sony 4k 3d Tv that has upscaling. BRP is not set to 4k at this point, cuz tv has upscaling, but I am sure when I go 3d or full 4k it will perform. My Yahmaha Aventage 7.1 receiver does not have 4k pass through, so the brp is set to HDTV,and pass through is fine and the TV upscales for now. My best advice is the brp is excellent and better than using a smart tv's apps than can be slow.

Toslink from Bravia to 501 update

I hooked up the Toslink from the Bravia to the 501. I am now able to run all the smart apps from my Bravia, Directv HD receiver and my Sony UHD BR, to the 501 with surprising results. You have to set your tvs audio out to PCM. First I tried the Bravias Pandora app, great sound, then Vevo Guns n Roses was awesome. Hulu works as well. I then tried my Directv options all worked perfect. I caught up on Game of Thrones Season 6. The sound stage and seperation with 2 ch PCM sounded better than my old full surround set up. I did not expect to have the sound move from left to right and back with 2 ch but it was awesome. If the sound came from the left of the screen it channeled to the lft spk, and so on for the right., and very detailed. 5 stars for the 2ch PCM. Google the history of PCM it will surprise you, it has been around since the 1930's, and is the closet thing to analog in the digital world. The voices were a little shy on Game of Thrones, so I turned off pure direct mode and turned up the treble, perfect solution. I will toggle back to pure direct for 2ch music and pure direct off for video. I am very happy with this set up. The 501 is allowing me to enjoy all my video through the Bravia and the best 2ch music I have had in a very long time. The Def Techs and SVS sound better than ever.

Will this TV work with my DirecTV
Or will it require additional equipment??
It is supposed to work with the Directv wireless system. You have to subsribe to that from Directv. I still use the DirecTv dvr box with this tv.

what is the difference between xbr850c and xbr850b?
I somehow am feeling xbr850b has more features than xbr850c i.e. Skype integrated, webcam etc.
What am I missing? is this tv better than xbr850b? Any more killer features?
I am planning to buy ont this week am not able to find the XBR850b.

The 850b is last years model. I believe the 850b does not have the andoid system or the trilumonous display. Neither is a bad tv. The 850c has the android system with a lot of google apps.
