A lot of good short stories which help fill-in the details on the Halo storyline. However, the first 7 episodes are pretty much cartoons while only the last one is actually CGI. What was most interesting is the relationship between Dr. Halsey, Cortana, and Master Chief was better explained.
I received my CD 3 days after ordering it which is great service, however, I'm very disappointed with most of the music selections. The first song was the GOT theme and, as expected, it was excellent. The last selection was somewhat good also, but the 20 songs in between could only be described as "mood music" and that is being generous. Perhaps they enhance the GOT scenes for which they were written, but just listening to them is not an enjoyable experience.
Excellent story on how first contact with extraterrestrials may occur. Diverges completely from the typical space alien invasion plot line. Very interesting and easy-to-follow depiction of a SETI team monitoring the electromagnetic signals of the cosmos, and the exciting, captivating action they take upon detecting communication with a source of origin that is obviously alien.
Exciting and enjoyable movie. Outstanding special effects, and intricate plot line. Great tie-in with the original Star Trek TV series. However, the early bedroom scene with Kirk and the nude alien chicks was an unnecessary vulgarity.
This movie's special effects were made for the stunning color and clarity that's possible with Blu-Ray technology. The story's plotline was in keeping with the reputation of Star Trek genre for originality and unpredictability.
Part III satisfactorily brings the Atlas Shrugged trilogy to a conclusion, but the transitions between scenes are disjointed and sometimes unrelated. This made the whole movie come across as an underfunded project that had as its main goal to bring Ayn Rand's story to an understandable conclusion. Parts I and II were much more engaging movies and the only reason to watch Part III is to see how the story ends. Otherwise, don't expect much else.
This is still a fun science fiction movie to watch, as long as you ignore the obvious discrepancies in how recent history has evolved, such as there is no longer a Soviet Union, plus the space program is still struggling to go back to the Moon. In practical terms, the idea of mankind being able to send a large manned spaceship to Jupiter is ridiculous. At best, that might happen at the end of the 21st century.

What's great about it: Great science fiction plot, brings back Dave from 2001
What's not so great: Realism of futuristic technology no longer impressive
I'm very happy with this soundtrack. It has excellent recordings of all the songs in the movie. The audio is very clear and it captures the simplicity and innocence of a time in this country when most people struggled to maintain their dignity during what seemed to be unending economic and societal hardship.

What's great about it: High quality production of the movie's soundtrack
What's not so great: Too bad it doesn't provide lyrics to the songs
This DVD contains four episodes of the science fiction series The Starship Troopers Chronicles. Each is presented in the original aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. Supplemental materials include trailers. This is a fine release for fans of the show as well as those who admired the film on which the show is based.
I thought this might be a good continuation of the Star Trooper saga in CGI format, but I was very wrong. The plots of the various episodes were so consistently bad that I didn't bother watching all of them, and the CGI looked like something that a college level cinematic arts major would produce.

What's great about it: I only bought one DVD instead of several of them
For viewers who find that the picture and sound are more important than supplemental material, this DVD will suit them just fine. The dry, sepia tone look of the film is reproduced perfectly on this disc. Colors are purposely muted, but the image quality doesn't suffer at all. As a matter of fact, the lack of color might even help this already excellent transfer, which doesn't have a single distracting element. The movie is presented, as it was in theaters, with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, and is anamorphic for widescreen televisions. The sound, utilizing both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 soundtracks, is equally good. While generally centered up front, with dialogue that is clear and distortion-free, there is some limited use of the surrounds. Also included are subtitles in Spanish and closed-captions in English. Unfortunately the disc falls a little short with regard to extra material. The few extras it has are relatively weak. There are three individual featurettes, though each is very brief. The first is called "Painting With Pixels" and looks at the work of digitally changing the colors to achieve the specific effect that filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen were trying to achieve. The second is a too short, behind-the-scenes glance at making the film, including some interviews. It fails to be more than a glorified fluff piece. Finally, there is a comparison between storyboards and the final film of two scenes -- the flood and the Klan rally. Considering the use of music in this film, a real plus is the music video for the song "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow". Rounding things off is the theatrical trailer. Certainly not the most exciting disc, but fans of this film shouldn't be disappointed with what is offered.
I have recently watched this movie for the first time even though it has been available on DVD for many years. The overall plot was very funny with great music, and all of it set during the Depression Era. It also touchingly showed how people persevered through those troubled times to maintain their dignity and honor.
