I've played every single Guitar Hero, grinded it out on medium difficulty until I could play expert. My wife even got into GH around the Legends of Rock time. While I understand reinventing the brand, this version is lacking heavily in my opinion.
The bad is the fact that local multiplayer restricts the second player to a "guest" profile. Your friend in the room, or in this case my wife, can't sign in and have progress saved. She also can't play bass guitar because the game makes both guitarists play the exact same parts. That's one of the things that made the game fun was the teamwork and the option to play different parts and instruments.
The good? While there isn't much I like about it I will say the crowd experience was kind of neat. Not enough to make me want to keep the game but it was fun for about an hour.
In the end I don't think this will reinvigorate this genre. I know I'm not the only GH fan that anticipated release only to be disappointed by the things I took for granted would still be a part of the game. That was my bad.
