Change for the better

I got to hear the interview with Justin (lead singer/songwriter for the band) as they played segments of the tracks.

Normally I like to form my own opinion on song meanings as they impact and relate to everyone differently but i was interested to hear what he had to say. I agree with the other review - this release does not have the edge the earlier works do, but then again, the band is in a different place. Justin was going through a messy divorce, custody battle for his daughter, drug abuse issues, mental illness struggles... He has now cleaned up and is in a much happier state of mind and the songs reflect this.

The song Hard Candy reminds him that the lure and downward spiral of recreational drug use is always close.

Even though it is a departure from the bands other works, I really love the album, even more having heard Justin reflect on each song and what they meant to "him".

I would recommend this to a friend!
