zwgrad09's Reviews

Gamers occupy two distinct, staunchly divided worlds. On the move, app addicts tap away at the touch screens of their mobile phones, slinging birds at pigs or battling zombies with flowers and trees. In the living room, die-hard franchise fans disappear into the battlefields of blockbuster video games that explode onto large-screen HDTVs. From these two separate realities, we all want one thing — gaming's best. OUYA is a new kind of console that turns the gaming world upside-down — bringing the open mobile model to TV for the first time. It looks like a piece of artwork, is developed like a mobile phone, delivers high-definition like a console — and yet is so very different from anything you've seen before.Introducing a whole new way to experience games and entertainment on your TV, OUYA runs on the Android operating system — becoming the first and only console to lets you develop and publish your own games. If you can program for Android, you can program for OUYA — it comes with an SDK built in, giving you all the tools you'll need to make, submit and publish a great game. The Android OS also means you'll have a custom user interface and game store right at your fingertips, stocked not only with games, like the legendary Final Fantasy franchise, but also tons of your favorite Android apps, videos from VEVO, music from iHeartRadio, streaming games from TwitchTV and more entertainment options. There are no discs to buy or scratch — download games directly to OUYA. When it comes to taking the action on screen, OUYA does it the right way, with impeccable graphics rendered by the NVIDIA Tegra3 quad-core processor, high-definition picture via HDMI and wireless navigation with the 2.4GHz controller. Bringing the fractured gaming world together and giving the power to the people — that's what OUYA can do. OUYA

The Future Of Indie Gaming

I've waited a year for this. The Ouya gaming console looked to be the coolest thing ever when it launched on Kickstarter in 2012. The promise of open publishing and working with large game makers led me to believe that this would change gaming, and it certainly will. The games it has so far are pretty awesome, with a LOT of Indie/Retro games, mixed in with some FPS/Shooters, Adventure, etc. I love the style of many of the games, as they return to the root of what makes games so great; the story, the characters, and the gameplay. You don't need realistic graphics to make a good game. Just look at Mario, Sonic, Street Fighter, etc. A lot of these game developers realize this, and have created their games accordingly. For $99, and with the promise of better games with large companies, you can't go wrong. Unless Microsoft and Sony change the terrible features of their new consoles (Zero Backwards Compatibility, Can't Play Used Games, Can't Loan Games More Than Once, etc), then the Ouya will be my go-to console for the time being, along with my 360. Buy this console. You'll love it.
What's great about it: Great design, Affordable Pricing, Good Graphics, Cool Games
What's not so great: Cheap Controller, Limited game titles at launch
I would recommend this to a friend!

Warning! This album will melt your face off
on March 13, 2012

Brutal, is the first word that comes to mind when describing this album. Then again, that is something that completely defines this band and everything they are about. As soon as the CD is turned on, or the MP3 Album is played, the listener is instantly slammed with face melting guitar riffs, blasting drumbeats, deep vocals, and eerie harmonics. The main difference between "Baptized In Filth" and "There Will Be Violence" is the melody, or lack thereof in this new album. The band decreased the melody while increasing the brutal sound that has made them so popular among the metal crowd. Every song delivers a pulsing and energetic vibe that is enough to chill even the most hardcore of listeners to the bone. I highly recommend this album, and totally disagree with the "Parental Advisory" rating that has been shamefully placed on this album. Impending Doom is a Christian band, with a Christian message, and I predict that this album will be a fan favorite very soon.
What's great about it: Brutal sound, energetic vibe, amazing lyrics
What's not so great: Lack of melody
