I have Lifeproof products on 3 iPhones and 2 iPad minis. When I bought my iPad Air a few weeks ago, I didn't know what I was going to do. I patiently waited and used an apple Smart Cover in the mean time. Between riding a motorcycle and carrying my iPad in a backpack, to the fact that I live on an island where it rains or I'm at the beach, Lifeproof has me covered.

Good case, ruined by screen degradation
ByDavidMusicfromIowa
This case infuriates me. It is so close to being perfect, yet fails due to degrading the screen in a horrible, distracting way.
Let me back up. I've owned this version for the air, as well as two cases for the ipad mini retina. All of them suffered from the same problem, however I think the air made it more noticeable.
When talking about built in screen protectors, I've noticed two types of rainbow effects:
1. This is noticeable more so from an angle, and is primarily located in a fixed position. It may, for example, measure 2 inches by 3 inches (length x width) and be located in the lower center of the screen. You may only notice it when viewed at an angle, or certain lighting conditions. However, when in use, the ipad screen may appear clear, and the rainbow not noticeable.
2. This is the more annoying type, where the screen is 100% covered with tiny "rainbow artifacts." It's as if each pixel has its own mini-rainbow, and text is horribly distracting. You know how a finger print looks on your screen? Imagine that, all over, maybe a bit muted but just as noticeable.
Type 2 is what this cases suffers from, and has occurred with all three cases I've owned from the company.
I've also owned the griffin survivor, which has the same issue to a lesser extent (and is much more bulky), and the otterbox.
In the end, the otterbox is the one I went with. It's actually smaller, more protective with drops, and it feels of higher quality with a better grip. The screen protector is of a higher quality and doesn't produce the distracting rainbow affect this one does.
Another concern is button stickiness. On all three lifeproof fre's I've owned, there was an unevenness to the volume buttons. The lower one worked ok, while the top one was a struggle to push. You had to push it at a very specific angle, and at a certain pressure before it worked.
The otterbox does not have this issue.
I would of loved to have kept this case, but it just couldn't read ebooks or texts with it. I kept getting eyestrain after prolonged use. When I switched back to the otterbox, I was very surprised as the text looked sharper and colors more vibrant, as well.
I really hope lifeproof fixes these issues, because this would be the case to own, if it didn't have issues.

You must have gotten a bad case. I have very little rainbow effect and the waterproof is bar none. You should get another case and give it a fair review.
