Not worth watching

This is Adam Sandler's most financially successful movie to date, but I found it pretty dull. I came into it with high expectations, being a fan of all the old SNL guys. The material was beneath them, wouldn't have made it as a skit on SNL during their heyday.

What's great about it: a few funny moments
What's not so great: bad story, bad acting
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bond by the numbers

This is Bond by the numbers, with the great Road Dahl doing his best Ian Fleming impression, adding all the elements: exotic locales, beautiful/deadly women, evil would-be world-taker-over, incredible gadgets. The film doesn't quite live up to its potential, and there are definitely some un-PC parts that some viewers may view as racially insensitive.
Still, a good watch, and Connery is always great. The disc is loaded with extras, including a cast/crew commentary.

What's great about it: Decent transfer, good extras
What's not so great: Film is a little silly/dated at times
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lawrence of Arabia [DVD] [1962]
Director David Lean's epic film of the life of one of England's most interesting soldiers is now available in a single disc format. Thankfully you can see this film as it's meant to be seen, in an Anamorphic widescreen 2.20:1 aspect ratio. The audio is also pretty good, in English Dolby Digital 5.1, English Dolby Digital stereo with subtitles in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese and Thai. There aren't a lot of extras on this one because it's such a long film, but it is available in a 2-disc set if you're looking for more.

A masterpiece

A great transfer of a cinematic gem. Looks wonderful; try to see it on the biggest screen you can. The extras were great, especially the Spielberg interview. I would have liked an audio commentary by a critic or scholar, but that's a very minor complaint.

Amazing

Life of Pi is an amazing movie, one of the few movie adaptations that I prefer over the source book. Ang Lee has crafted a visually stunning yet meditative masterpiece. The 3D looks amazing; one of the few movies where 3D enhances the narrative (Avatar and Hobbit are the only other 2 that come to mind for me).
