Hilarious 'Zomedy' Romp!
on January 5, 2014

Cockneys Vs. Zombies is a great release by Scream Factory that provides a new take on the 'Zomedy' movie. Made in the same vein as Shaun Of The Dead, our leading cast members must survive a zombie apocalypse while attempting to save a group of senior citizens with special connections to our protagonist brothers. Although most actors' accents can be a bit "thick" and hard to understand at times, there are several great "one-liner" jokes to keep you laughing from beginning to end.
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: Great "one liners" as well as a new take on a zombie invasion
What's not so great: English accent can be a bit "thick" at times

Good for a laugh and a scare!

The Beast Within definitely uses an "original" (if not very disturbing) idea to help our main character struggle with his "inner" demon; however at times, you wonder just how naïve many of our supporting cast/extras can be when interacting with the "Beast." Definitely worth a view; however, it may not be worth a purchase unless a 'die hard' horror/Scream Factory supporter.
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: Original idea does offers up a few scares
What's not so great: Can be a bit far-fetched at times

Very Creepy Film will give you the Heebie Jeebies!

Crawlspace is an excellent release from my personal favorite studio, Scream Factory. The film gives viewers a suffocating, paranoia feel due to several "tight spaces." This film will definitely make all think twice when deciding to rent or own their own living space!
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: 'Possible Real-Life Scenario' Scary
What's not so great: Some of the acting does take away from the film

Good Movie to Continue the Underworld Saga
on January 5, 2014

Awakening does a nice job of continuing the storyline from Evolution; however, some may debate the decision to involve a "new character." Without giving spoilers, the addition of a new character alters the original storyline away from its roots...
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: Decent Plot, Great Battle Scenes
What's not so great: Leaves Fans Wanting "More"

Semi-worthy Successor to the Original
on January 5, 2014

Sea of Monsters is an overall worthy successor to Lightning Thief. Our main character returns to continue his "quest;" however, nothing really sets this movie apart from most of the fantasy fanfare released recently. I would recommend for "completists" who feel the urge to own sequels as it does not disappoint as most sequels do. For your average movie watcher, it's probably wise to rent this movie first #before buying# to determine if it'd be good re-watch material for your tastes.
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: Great Special Effects
What's not so great: Nothing "stands out" to set apart from most fantasy features

ULTIMATE Anniversary Episode!
on January 4, 2014
Posted by: LinusAurealius

Doctor Who celebrated it's 50th Anniversary on November 23, 1963 (if you include the time period that the show was on hiatus in the 90s#, and the episode could not have been much better.
It would have been nice for more past 'Doctors' and other characters to be involved; however, there is a nice mix of references to the older version of the show while also continuing the current storyline of the new version of the show.
Of course, I want to avoid "spoilers" #as River Song might say# but be sure to watch the final moments of the episode for a nice send-off to the first 50 years. Here's to 50 more!!!
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: Pays Nice Homage to Classic 'Doctor Who' Episodes and Characters
What's not so great: More "Classic" Doctors Could Have Been Involved

Great Companion to the BSG series!
on April 13, 2013

William Adama (Commander/Admiral in the Syfy-produced "newer" series) and provides some background on the evolution of the Cylon menace.
CGI effects can be a bit much at times; however, most scenes are shot/animated well. See if you can pick out Tricia Helfer's voice (Number Six from BSG) to help build that connection to BSG!
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: Great action; Provides nice backstory
What's not so great: Might not be good for a BSG newcomer?

This set contains every episode from the second season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, a run of shows that includes the first appearance of the Borg ("Q Who"), Riker joining a Klingon crew ("A Matter of Honor"), and Data having to be put on trial ("The Measure of a Man").

Season Two sets the stage for the rest!
on April 13, 2013

Star Trek: TNG - Season 2 is vastly improved from the show's first season run. Personally, I always felt the first season was a bit "disjointed;" however, Season 2 smooths out those imperfections and hits the viewer with some quality story-telling.
The fan-favorite "Q-Who?" introduces fans to the most notorious Star Trek villain (possibly next to the Klingons) in the Borg. It's one of the few episodes/stories that TNG crew seem out of their element and unsure of how to handle adversity. Definite classic of all TNG episodes.
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: Classic Episodes; Minor Writing Imperfections Corrected from Season 1
What's not so great: Nothing!

Quality film with a few problems
on April 13, 2013

Jurassic Park III is a much better film than the previous entry (The Lost World); however still, it was nowhere near the level of the original (Jurassic Park). Dr. Alan Grant is convinced to "return" to Jurassic Park (although to a "sister" island of the island in the original) to provide a tour for an uber-wealthy couple out to sight-see....or at least that's what Dr. Grant is lead to believe.
Overall, Jurassic Park III is a great action film; however for me, it felt as if something was missing. Their was no "epic" feel to the movie. Nonetheless, the plot and writing is much improved from The Lost World and definitely worth the while for fans of the original Jurassic Park and/or dinosaur movies in general.
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: Great Action; Better than Previous Series Entry
What's not so great: Left Me Wanting More

Not a bad film but not a worthy follow-up
on April 13, 2013

The Lost World is overall a good action film; however, the plot is a bit weak and a bit disappointing after the classic original film. New dinosaurs (new to the Jurassic Park films) are introduced and entertaining.
My Best Buy number: 2116725044
What's great about it: Lots of action and new dinosaurs
What's not so great: Plot is a bit hard to believe
