A classic, vibrant symphony translated from 1989's 'The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover' which is a fine classic piece to those who enjoy violins.

Zero Value

An under-the-radar detective comedy drama of 1998, 'Zero Effect' pits a personal assistant played by Ben Stiller to aid his compulsive & mean employer, expert detective Daryl Zero, played by Bill Pullman , who is a recluse & suffers mental illness. A layered story with a surprise, the movie is a one-shot cult film to fans of Pullman & Stiller or mystery movies in center.

John Carpenter directs this Chevy Chase sci-fi action-comedy about a shifty stock-broker who turns invisible in an accident which has corrupt CIA agents set to exploit him or experiment on him. Bridging apart Chevy Chases' efforts to divert comedy for this mixed bag, the special effects are superb, but the plot and surprises are slim. Daryl Hannah and Sam Neill lead well in this playful comedy thriller.

A deadly cat-and-mouse game between a world-renowned surgeon and a rogue FBI agent begins in Season 1 of this high-octane suspense thriller. Dr. Ellen Sanders (Toni Collette), a respected Washington, D.C., surgeon is selected to operate on U.S. president Paul Kincaid (James Naughton). But the day before the surgery armed intruders, led by FBI agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott), take her family hostage and demand that she kill Kincaid during surgery or they will murder her husband, son and daughter. To buy some time, Ellen slips the president some blood thinner which causes the procedure to be postponed for two weeks. As Duncan and his gun-toting allies hold the Sanders family hostage until the assassination can take place, dark secrets begin to spill out and it becomes clear that Duncan is taking orders from someone higher up and that the conspiracy is much bigger than anyone could imagine.

From Jerry Bruckheimer, this one season thriller from 2013 stars Toni Collette as a doctor with family who is put to terms to assassinate a terminally ill president set to go under surgery by a renegade F.B.I. agent- played by Dylan McDermott- less her family will be eliminated. An intriguing plot with a series of twists, the series stands a one-shot mini-series all out.

From the creator of 'Moonlighting' and 'Medium', this one season hit from CBS intrigues apart from conventional shows- a romantic drama spliced with a spy series of 1999-2000. John Goodman "dies" from a train accident only to have his brain implanted into a eugenic super-human designed to fight super-terrorists spite his handlers insistence of his role being declared dead. The hero, Michael Wiseman becomes Michael Newman- portrayed by Eric Close- who doesn't want to deny his past for his current livelihood nor the wife & child he's left behind.
If 'The Six Million Dollar Man' spliced with 'Captain America' and 'Mission: Impossible' with a romantic comedy and a situation comedy to family drama, topped with John Goodman cameos and the early appearance of Dennis Haysbert before '24' and those insurance commercials- you'd believe the series was over-the-top.
A short lived television series comedy-action-drama that could have easily worked as a movie without question and plenty of surprises.

The Cranberries were staple to being the Irish folklore band with a bit of rock and alternative to their mix in the 90s. This latter album from 1999 emphasizes their end-of-the-decade benchmark with 'Animal Instinct', 'Copycat' and their saddest song 'Dying in the Sun'. Great for that Garbage, Sarah McLachlan, Cardigans fan. More guitar based folklore music and ballad oriented than the Cranberries prior work.

Smooth Stone Cover

Rolling Stones music fans can expect a transition and experimental sound from the familiar rock band adapting with New Wave and Reggae music from this 1983 album. 'She Was Hot', 'Too Much Blood' and 'Undercover of the Night' are staple, but the album would release when the Stones earlier fans have since had kids of their own. An underrated original only to go in value over time.

Basis of the book of same title, director Martin Scorsese of 'Goodfellas' and 'Taxi Driver' takes this fine film with Nicholas Cage as a frazzled EMT worker on edge of New York losing his spirit with the job. Comedy, drama, tragedy- the movie is shot beautifully of New York 1998 with plenty of star power and intensity, but the movie lulls too long by the end.

Before The Ramones, before Nirvana, before The Clash, before Twisted Sister, before Red Hot Chili Peppers, before Back Flag, before Green Day- There was Iggy Pop. Bootleg recordings, dive bar records, and impactful rock from 70's & 80's archives with rare tracks- this hard hitter album of 2 CD's will be the must own of any Iggy Pop fan. If your looking for a polished pop music sound, this isn't your target album, but for the rough rock n' roll lover, this is music in the raw. Listen to it once.

L.Q. Jones' adaptation of Harlan Ellison's A Boy and His Dog comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are neither subtitles nor closed-captions on this release. Supplemental materials include a director's commentary track and original theatrical trailers. Fans of this cult favorite will certainly appreciate this disc, while those that have only heard of the film will be given a quality way to experience it for the first time.

Dogged Sci-Fi

This 1974 low-budget and low effects science fiction film has Don Johnson as a young man looking to survive and find a female lover in a war torn deserted wasteland. Aided with a telepathic dog for help, this movie presets the 'Mad Max' films by a few years. Heavy emphasis to the Vietnam war cynicisms, Watergate scandals, and the Cold War fears- the movie is an impressive commentary time capsule, but the slow pace and gritty cheap feel of the movie may bore some.
