It is a good sturdy cool looking case. It is only silver on the front not the sides. My surprising was with all the faster resources, chip and memory, the hard drive speed is slow which impacts startup and performance. I was tempted to replace it with an SSD drive the second day to get rid of that performance bottle neck. Other than that it is a good solid design.

I have bought several of these drives and have never had any trouble with them. They last a long time, they take normal wear and tear of bouncing around and consistently work. USB port powers the drive so only one cable is necessary. They are very portable for external backups.

I have installed 10-20 of these in different locations with different physical environments. I have not had a failure yet. Whether laptops or desktops after quickly cloning the drive with a third party software I quickly fire up the system and they run like a new PC. They also include a dashboard software to monitor firmware and detailed view of the hard drive. It is the cheapest way to make your PC faster and extend its life.

The interface is suppose to be more user friendly. I purchased this in December and spent some time learning the interface setting up multiple SSID's including guest access and port forwarding rules and it appeared to work pretty well. Much better than my previous models that I had to restart every week or so until month 4. 4 months after purchase the ports in the router died for no reason, no power spikes, no storms, just stopped working. Returning it to the manufacturer has taken about 2 hours of my time so far.

Will I see a difference between Samsung ssd and san disk ssd
Realistically NO. There may be a fraction of a difference between brands and models but it would likely be unnoticeable to any user. It would be the difference between driving 1000mph or 1001mph. It is more about what brand you trust and has a history of reliability.

Will this work with a Toshiba Satelits A215 which is at least 7 years old.
Need a external hard drive to transfer files from my laptop to free-up space on it.Will I then be able to retrieve any of the transfered files so that I may be able to look at them on my laptop whenever I choose.Thank you for your response.
Yes it should work fine. It will switch to USB 2.0 mode.
