One word explanation. Awesome! You can't go wrong with this center channel speaker so long as you have the space for it....it is a monster at 30+ inches in width and 14 inches in depth. I recommend you remodel or do whatever you have to do and make space for the RP450C because it is an AWESOME center channel speaker that will rev up your HT with crystal clear dialogue and impressive appearance and performance. Also, it comes from an an outstanding lineup of speakers with plenty of options in the Klipsch Reference Premiere lineup. For example, I have the RP150M matched up with the RP450C. I wish I had space for floorstanding speakers such as the RP250F, but even the small RP150M bookshelf speakers pair up perfectly with the RP450C, You won't be disappointed. Make sure to shop around for the best price (check Klipsch website) and Best Buy will price match, which I find is convenient in case I need to return something since they are right here in town and have a decent return policy. I also tried the Polk Signature line, but returned them after hooking up these Klipsch speakers. No comparison, spend a bit more money you won't regret it.

I tried out this entire line of bookshelf and center channel speakers in my 5.1 HT setup. At first I liked them, but then I decided to try some Klipsch Reference Premiere speakers (RP150M/RP450C) and within 5 minutes of hooking up the Klipsch had boxed up the Polks to return them back. Unimpressed when compared to something of higher quality. Do your homework and spend just a bit more money, you won't be disappointed. Polk Signature are entry level speakers. You can do a lot better for just a small amount more money, and have many more options (e.g, Klipsch Reference Premiere Lineup has Dolby Atmos options, surround speakers, multiple bookshelf, centers, subwoofer, and floorstanding options that are all timber matched).
Add a centerpiece to your audio system with this Polk S30 center channel speaker. The 5.25-inch mica-reinforced cone produces outstanding bass as well as powerful dynamics in the midrange, and you can easily mount it to the wall thanks to the built-in keyhole slots. A specially designed acoustic array produces powerful sound from this Polk S30 center channel speaker.

I tried both the s35 and s30 center channel with S20 fronts and S15 rears. I was not impressed by either of the two center channel speakers in this lineup. The S35 lacks any lower frequency given it only has 3.5 inch drivers, while the S30 covers a bit more base it sounds hollow and has poor dialogue, which is the main purpose of a center channel. For what it is worth, I returned all the polk speakers and went with Klipsch RP150m and RP450c. Once you try a higher quality center channel speaker, such as the RP450C or even the RP250C you will immediately hear the difference. Spend a bit more money (its not that much more) and you won't be disappointing!

Wow! These are exceptional speakers folks! In an upgrade from 25 year old infinity speakers, I had purchased polk signature speakers recently to give them a shot because they were on sale, but decided to try some other speakers before I had to commit to the polks. Well, within 20 minutes of hooking up these klipsch I boxed up the polks to return them. Not even a fair comparison to be honest and the Klipsch are not much more expensive really as long as you take advantage of sale prices...well worth the money. I have the rp150m paired with an rp450c in a 5.1 setup using an older sony db1070 6.1 receiver (100Wx6). Eventually, I plan to get the rp260f and move the rp150m to the rear surrounds. Although, the more I listen to this setup I think I could easily get by using the rp150m for front L/R channel. The sound that comes out of these relatively small speakers is amazing, to say the least. A caveat is they don't hit the low end with only a 5.25" driver in a small cabinet (the downside of bookshelf speakers is compromising deep sound for space) so you may want a subwoofer especially for HT setups, but these are a very fine sounding speaker that present a great sound stage and crisp clear dialog, that will leave you impressed nonetheless. These speakers excel for listening to music in smaller rooms or in HT setups where floor standing speaker space can't be accommodated. For listening to music I am extremely impressed by the richness of the sound these little beauties produce with or without a sub. Regardless, you won't be disappointed, these speakers had me shaking my head in amazement several times and they are not even really broke in yet....KLIPSCH, HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK with this new reference premier line of speakers!! To top it off, these things look amazing with the copper and black, and no grill mounts due to use of magnets..what you get is a sleek and slim look. Be sure to look around and take advantage of price matching with Best Buy!

I purchased a full set of Polk Signature Speakers for (mostly) a home theater setup where we needed to migrate to bookshelf speakers for our fronts. I have always had and prefer tower front channel speakers but in this case had to compromise. I originally attempted to use a set of 4- S15 for 5.1 surround paired with the Polk Signature S35 center and an older infinity sub. The sound was actually quite impressive and timber matched to perfection; however, we had the space and opted to purchase the Polk S20 for our front L/R channel and use the S15 for rear surround. The S20 reach down a bit lower in frequency response (39 Hz versus 50 Hz) and it was actually quite noticeable in our 16x30' living room. Keep in mind the S20 are much bigger. The S15 work great as rear surround and mounted nicely in my existing speaker mounts. I did decide to try the S30 center, I like the slim design of the S35 center and it sounds amazingly clear and crisp, but the lower end of the frequency response of the S30 better matches the S20's (42 versus 53 Hz). I will hook that up when it arrives and make a final determination but expect my final setup will include S20 fronts, S30 center, S15 rear surround, and potentially S15 side channels if I ever get a 7.1 or 7.2 receiver. I am overall very impressed by the Polk Signature series, especially for this price. It seems well designed, has good appearance with either the grills off or on. I considered Klipsch RP series, Definitive Technology SM series, as well as Martin Logan Motion..and I tried various lines out at a Magnolia store. However, for the price I feel the Polk do well and my home theater experience is great and I would highly recommend this line of speakers. Make sure you watch prices. Best Buy is good about price match and I used that convenience a couple times as the Polk website had sales that were not displayed through Best Buy, but they price matched. The January 15 return policy during the holidays is great and allows time to break in the speakers and try various options.

These speakers sound just ok, and if you don't compare them to anything else you might even think they sound good. The problem I had with them is that they do not have great dialogue and mid range response. This is not good for HT setups that rely on clear dialogue. The speakers have a somewhat muddy sound to them, that is the best way I can describe it. They would likely be fine for just listening to music. But, even then when you turn up the volume you can hear a boxy, muddy sound and with increased volume these speakers are not clear. All in all, the biggest issue I had with this series of speakers is that the center channel options are poor and you can read my reviews of the s15, s30, and s35. Again, as I posted these are entry level speakers so most people looking for entry level speakers likely would find these acceptable...but if those same people do even a small bit of comparison they will hear what I am speaking about as issues with this line of speakers.

Is this price per pair?
Yes, bookshelf speakers (S10, S15, S20) in the Polk Signature Line come in pairs.
