Best 15" Windows laptop
on July 24, 2016

Pros: 1tb ssd. Kb. Screen with small bezels means it's actually the size of a 14" laptop. Quad core processor. 16 gb RAM. Fabulous screen although windows still needs to optimize better for high resolution screens. Smooth touchpad but loud clicking. Better surface for typing on vs macbook pro.
Cons: Graphics card could be a bit better. No num pad. Some bloat you need to uninstall.

Don't overpay

I would get one for like 500-800 at most. Upgrade the harddrive, memory, or video (no more than a GTX 960) yourself. If you're going to spend nearly 2k, consider something else that has a better power supply, more room, etc like Alienware.

PC in a tablet

Great hardware. Pen and kb work really well. I like how easily the kb attaches and it's surprisingly great to use for me as is the touchpad.
Where the Surface starts to suffer a bit are the bugs. An example is not waking from sleep and having to do a hard reset. Battery life isn't great. The fan seems to come on for me more often then what people are saying in reviews. And things are a big laggy, stuttering, etc...not as smooth as a Macbook in my opinion. The Edge browser I can't even use without extensions.
It's basically windows on a tablet. I don't find myself using windows 10 apps or metro versions except for Notes. I'm not a big note taker though and so the Pen, good as it is, often doesn't get used by me. I use it more for photo editing, sketching, etc but again, not often. This is the reason why you'd want a Surface. That, and you can easily use the Surface in portrait aspect which i think can be better for web browsing.
This would make a great primary device especially if you get the dock and a monitor to go with it. You won't be playing intensive games but it would serve everything else.
However, if you have a PC and simply want a tablet or laptop, it's probably better to get an ipad and a laptop. As a tablet, an ipad is better. As a laptop, a dell xps would be preferable to me. The Surface can do both, but not as well.. It really depends then on how much you value that Pen, form factor, and having access to all the great windows applications with that Pen.

Even with its 12.9-inch Retina display, the largest and most capable iPad ever is only 6.9mm thin and weighs just 1.57 pounds. It has a powerful A9X chip with 64-bit desktop-class architecture, four speaker audio, advanced iSight and FaceTime HD cameras, Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity¹, iCloud, the breakthrough Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and up to 10 hours of battery life.² It also includes great apps for productivity and creativity, as well as many more incredible apps available in the App Store. And with powerful new features in iOS 9 like multitasking, iPad Pro can do things no iPad has done before.

iPad Plus
on December 11, 2015

The ipad Pro is more Plus than Pro in my opinion which isn't a bad thing. It's by far the fastest ipad ever. The best sounding ipad (or any mobile device apple makes). Doubles the RAM of the ipad Air 2. In other words, iOS and any apps scream on this. The screen is fantastic. The apple pencil works well although a few minor things about the pencil itself could be improved such as the cap, where to put it, etc.
However, it falls a bit short when all this talk of replacing a laptop or desktop rears its ugly head. I'd like to say it depends on your needs, but more than likely, you'll come across something you just need a PC or Mac to do. Apple has mentioned it's a bad experience to have a touchscreen in a laptop. But then they go ahead and make a kb case for ipad pro which is the same thing. You have to touch the screen with no mouse. It's a bad experience.
This is also something that isn't the easiest to use on the go. In the car, it's a beast. On an airplane? Huge. The ipad Air is more suitable for this. You need a laptop bag just to transport the ipad Pro.
For artists, drawers, and note takers, this is a dream and easily recommended. If you're not into that, then it's basically a bigger, better performing ipad. It does nothing over the Air in terms of replacing a PC or Mac if that's your goal. In that case, I'd only consider the Pro if you're definitely an ipad user, not a casual one.
I have no problem waiting for apps and iOS to catch up with this or future models. For the price, it's not worthwhile for me at this time. If I was more of an artist, then the Pencil would be enough reason in itself.
