Amazing Monitor!
on March 14, 2024
Posted by: Clshipp91
Total immersion, that’s the only thing I can use to describe this monitor. I’ve never used a monitor quite like this one, the size, the cutting edge features all make this the best gaming monitor I’ve ever used.
The monitor itself is gorgeous. The build quality is top notch with a really cool edgy look and smooth tilt and up/down movement. It’s very evident from the build quality alone that this is a premium monitor.
The picture quality is second to none. The 2k resolution looks amazing when playing games and the dramatic curved screen really makes you feel like your in the middle of what your playing.
Under the hood of this beautiful display is some amazing tech too. It supports g sync and free sync that keep all my games running so smooth. I’ve yet to see any stuttering.
Overall this is an incredible monitor with every feature you could want. Great for gaming at a really high resolution with options for hdmi and display port. I can’t recommend this monitor enough to bring your gaming to the next level.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best All around smart lock
on February 29, 2024
Posted by: Clshipp91
I’ve been trying several smart locks lately from lots of brands and this Aqara lock is by far my favorite of the bunch. It isn’t perfect but it’s very close to it.
In the box you get the lock, a usb hub to allow you to connect the the lock over WiFi, and all the pieces you need to install the lock. One issue I had was the lack of an AC adapter for the hub. If it’s going to be plugged in 24/7 it should come with an AC adapter.
Installation is really easy. If you’ve ever installed a lock before you’ll know exactly what to do. Set up via the app is pretty straightforward. Following the instructions I was able to get setup done via the app, HomeKit and Google home all at once.
This lock is beyond feature rich. It has all the normal features like auto lock and keypad entry, but it also has so much more. The fingerprint sensor works great and Aqara lets you store multiple users fingers in the app so that you get notifications each time a specific person unlocks the door. In addition to that you can also unlock the door with included nfc tags that you also link to specific people. They work quickly and are another convenient way to unlock. HomeKey is also supported, letting you unlock via your iPhone of Apple Watch. If all else fails there’s also a hidden keyhole under the metal plate of the lock.
Some additional cool features include a magic door sensor that somehow knows when the door is open and closed and can lock the door as soon as it’s closed. It works great. The locking and unlocking is also the quickest I’ve ever seen on any lock.
Overall this is the best lock around, highly recommend.

Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 uses cutting-edge millimeter-wave radar technology, which can accurately detect the presence of people even with slight movements. This technology ensures continuity and stability of the smart device. It also has the function of zone positioning, which allows for the automation of different conditions in different zones, such as beds and tables. One space can now be divided into up to 30 small zones and recognize up to five targets (Multi-person Detection). It can also control other smart home devices through ecosystems such as Apple Home to achieve wider applications. It features functions such as human fall recognition, sleep monitoring and a built-in light sensor. Likewise, it is a great helper that can truly combine the diversity of the user's home life and realize the automation of different personalities.

Does what it says, but why?
on February 29, 2024
Posted by: Clshipp91
I’ve been hearing about the Aqara FP2 for a while now and mostly good things, that’s why I was surprised just how underwhelmed I was with this presence sensor. Unlike normal motion sensors that just detect movement, this sensor using mm waves to detect precise positions of people moving and even standing still. So you can quickly see how this could be used for lots of applications for turning devices off and on depending on your very precise location.
In the box you really just get the sensor, a charging cable (no brick) and two mounting plates. Right off the bat I think this is a big misstep by not including an AC adapter for something that has to be plugged in 24/7.
Set up is pretty straightforward, the Aqara app walks you through positioning and then walking around the room to set the room boundaries. It’s pretty easy and mine mapped the room really quickly.
In use is where things start to break down. The Aqara app itself is one of the worst smartphone apps I’ve used. Not only is it akward to use with strange phrasing choices that show this product was built by non Americans, there is almost no 3rd party integration at all. So you are stuck with Aqara products which are pretty limited. It does integrate with Google Home and HomeKit, but I could not figure out how to you the super precise location tracking in Google Home. Instead you just get a very generic “motion detected” device. Because of this I wasn’t ever able to actually make any real use from this thing and hence was pretty disappointed.
Overall I can’t see a whole ton of use here. Maybe if you are super advanced in automations you could get something running. But I couldn’t.

Way Better Options Available
on February 28, 2024
Posted by: Clshipp91
I really wanted to like this doorbell, especially since I love the Aqara lock, but this doorbell turned out to be one of my most disappointing smart home devices I've tried in a long time. There really was very little to actually like about this doorbell, especially when there are so many other great options out there.
In the box: my first frustration started right out of the box. You get the doorbell, a chime, a cable to power the chime, and AA batteries to power the doorbell. One of my biggest product pet peeves is when something (like the chime) is required to be plugged in all the time but an AC power brick isn't included. I get the trend to reduce waste by not including them when a device only needs it to charge, but on something like this where the brick will be used in perpetuity, there really isn't an excuse not to include one.
Setup: My next disappointment was setup. There are no install instructions in the box. Which most of the time is ok, because other smart home companies usually walk you through install in the app while setting up the device. That isn't the case here. When adding the device to the Aqara app, the only setup it to add the chime to the app/homekit, that's it. Because of this I actually didn't even realize that the doorbell had contentions to hardwire the doorbell in place rather than using the included batteries.
This was my next disappointment with setup, the batteries. Aqara claims 4 months of life from the AAs, but given that this doorbell is outside 24 hours a day and exposed to the elements, I don't see how you wouldn't end up with alkaline batteries leaking at some point in the products life.
The Aqara app: The Aqara app itself is also just a giant mess. It is very obvious that the team that designed this app is not familiar with American conversation style. There are words and phrases in this app that I've never seen in any smart home app, or app in general for that matter. It does not make for a satisfying experience. The app features all the normal automation and scene features from other smart home apps, but given home limited the Aqara ecosystem is and virtually no 3rd party support in the app, I don't see home much of this is useful.
Google Home/Homekit: I tested both of these and I could never get the doorbell to connect to Google Home, the Google Home app thought the doorbell was offline and would never connect, so no go there. Homekit did work as intended. It connected to the home during my setup with the Aqara app and streamed local video great. This doorbell does support Apple Secure video which is cool
Overall there really is very little to like about this doorbell, there many other better option that you should look into before this one.

Simple, well built and Effective
on February 22, 2024
Posted by: Clshipp91
I've had lots of air purifiers and this Shark might be my new favorite. It doesn't connect to wifi or have any crazy smart features but it instead focuses on doing what it is supposed to do really well, purify the air.
This Shark air purifier is dead simple to use, take it out of the box and turn it on. It has a display to show you the quality of your air and several speeds and an automatic setting to make things even easier. It also includes a deodorizer puck that you can adjust the level. I find the scent very suttle and clean. If you like it you can turn the smell up and if you don't you can turn it completely off, great flexibility.
The biggest feature of this unit is the filter, which supposedly lasts vastly longer than a traditional HEPA filter. I haven't had it long enough to validate this but so far I love what it does and it will for sure be a main stay in our house.
As far as sound goes, it is relatively quiet most of the time. I really only notice it when it kicks into high gear after we cook or something. Even then it's only loud enough for us to say, where is that sound coming from?
Overall this is a very well built and Effective air purifier. Very easy to use with little setup. Would highly recommend.

High Quality with interesting smarts
on January 6, 2024
Posted by: Clshipp91
Everything is getting smart these days and the bathroom is not safe either. The Hai showerhead is a very well built showerhead with some interesting smarts tucked under the hood.
As a basic showerhead it has great pressure and is built with very high quality metal that feels great in the hand and looks great on the wall. It has two settings a normal and atomized setting. The atomized setting is nice in that it uses way less water and is soft on the skin, but it does make the water considerably colder.
The smart functions on this device are very interesting but I'm not sure how useful they really are. All the tech inside actually runs on water pressure so there is never a need to replace the battery. Other than that you can track water usage and set the light to change when the water reaches a preset temp. Overall the smart features feel pretty lackluster for the price of this thing. If your someone who wants to reduce water usage maybe this is useful but otherwise I'm not sure how useful the smart features are.

Solid Device with Decent Software
on January 4, 2024
Posted by: Clshipp91
Cryptocurrency hardware wallets are a great way to keep your assets safe by keeping your private key segregated from the internet. The Trezor Model T serves one purpose and that's to give you a dedicated interface to approve and sign transactions for a variety of cryptocurrencies.
The biggest thing to look for in a hardware wallet is security, sense that's the main objective in using one of these wallets. And here Trezor does a great job. Right off the bat the packaging is designed in a way to give you some assurance no one has tampered with the device by including a security seal over the usb port in the box. Next the entire code base of the device is open source meaning security bugs are quickly identified and corrected. Lastly the set up process itself is designed to help you verify your device is legit with the accompanying PC software.
Using the device is pretty easy. You connect it to your computer (no Bluetooth for mobile), enter a pin on the Model T that you will use for all cryptos and then go through the normal process to create wallets with recovery phrases.
The recovery phrase generation is another unique security feature of trezor. You can use a normal 12 word phrase or you can use a shamir recov3ry which creates several groups of phrases that require you to have 2 of 3 of the phrases to recover. This let's you store pieces of the phrases in multiple places for even more real world security.
The Trezor software is my biggest complaint here. While it does support a lot of the big cryptos, the overall feature set is much less than it's competition. Mainly, L2 chains aren't supported at all. Luckily the Trezor works with metamask, so you have all the features of metamask while still keeping your keys offline.
Using the device to approve and sign is much better than other devices too. The interface is fairly straightforward and the touchscreen on the device is easy to read and easy to interact with.
Overall it's a great device and one I will use to keep my assets safe.

Invisible Smart Home
on November 17, 2023
Posted by: Clshipp91
I've tried many smart locks over the years and they've all compromised somewhere, whether being very bulky, poor battery life, weak motor, you name it there was some short comings. The Level lock is the first lock I've tried that seems to blend entirely into my house and I love it.
Installing the lock is incredibly simple. Due to its unique design it actually installs just like a normal lock. The strike plate and deadbolt plate were a lot thicker than my existing deadbolt so I did have to make some cuts to the door to get it to fit. But once I did everything screwed right together.
Setting everything up was pretty quirky. The Level app itself is ok and guides you through most steps, but I had some trouble getting home kit to work. But after several attempts it finally worked.
Connecting the lock to my google home was really simple, just like any other "works with google" device. It locks and unlocks perfectly in the google home app.
The Level lock itself is kind of quirky. It offers some nice features like auto unlock and lock, though I've seen mixed results with the auto lock feature. I've noticed my lock not locking on its own several times. My biggest problem with the lock is the UI and not being able to easily tell if the lock is locked or unlocked.
One of the biggest selling points for this lock is the home key integration. Again here set-up wasn't super straight forward because there isn't much instructions. Eventually a notification just popped up to add home key and then it just showed up in my wallet on my phone and watch. It works really well. I just hold my watch up and the door unlocks. I really like that I don't even need to open the wallet app. One huge downside here though is you have to have an apple tv or homepod as a hub to be able to share the home key with other people. So since we don't have one my wife can't use home key.
Apart from all this the lock also comes with a keypad. It works well and connects to the lock easy. It's built well and overall works. Though I think it kind of takes away from the hidden smart home look so not sure if I'll keep it in the long run.
Overall this is a great option for a smart lock. It checks every box possible and works with every smart home out there.

Very Fancy but is it better?
on November 3, 2023

This is one crazy coffee maker, it has tons of bells and whistles, from a grinder, oversized reservoir, to WiFi connectivity.
The build quality feels like it should be great, but I ran into some weird problems I would t expect at a price point like this. The first unit I received had a broken part right out of the box and the replacement had a faulty gasket that caused the reservoir to leak everywhere. Luckily there are extra gaskets in the box (though none of the instructions tell you what they are for).
Brewing a cup of coffee is fairly easy, just like any other pot. It does make a good tasting cup and I love being able to grind straight into the coffee maker. The delay timer works great too allowing you to se the time, number of cups and brew strength all really easily.
There is also an app, though I’m not really sure what real benefits it adds. It’s a very clunky UI and it’s much easier just to control the coffee pot right at the control panel.
Overall this is a really pretty coffee maker that makes a good cup of coffee, but I’m not sure there is anything that really justifies the price it asks.

Plug and Play

This is the first security system I’ve ever owned but I can’t imagine something getting any easier than this. From set up to lack of contract this has by far been the easiest setup process for anything tech I’ve seen.
My set included door door sensors, two motion sensors a base station and keypad. The door and window sensors are fairly discrete but it is a white block on your door so keep that aesthetic in mind.
Setting every Up was super simple. The simple safe app walks you through each step to pair each piece with the base station. I had almost no problems with this step, other than not being able to rename my pieces during setup which made it somewhat difficult to figure out which piece was which when attaching. But names of pieces can be changed later so it wasn’t a huge problem.
Adhering the pieces to walls and doors was so easy and while a small detail, might be my favorite part of this product. While most companies include a one time use sticky back tape that cannot be reused and requires some internet searching if you need to replace, Simplisafe chose to design these devices to fit the standard 3M command strips, and even gives you extra in the box. This makes moving the pieces so much easier as these command strips are sold everywhere. Amazing idea here.
Using the system is so easy. I arm and disarm with the keypad and each mode works great. Home doesn’t arm the motion sensors and away turns everything on. We have too large dogs and I like that Simplisafe has a pet mode feature that keeps your pets from triggering the system. This works great. We have yet to have a false alarm.
In the event of a breach you get an immediate notification on your phone as well as a call from emergency dispatch. However I do like that even after the alarm sounds if you enter your number on the keypad within a minute or two then it won’t trigger a false alarm.
There are a whole host of monitoring solutions from full to self monitoring and all with no contract which I love.
Overall a great product and will definitely recommend.

Keep your carpets in pristine condition with this HOOVER ONEPWR Spotless GO cordless carpet cleaner. This HOOVER ONEPWR Spotless Go cordless carpet cleaner comes with a 2.0 Ah rechargeable battery for prolonged cord-free usage.

I am inquiring about the upholstery/multi purpose tool. Can the clear cover be removed for cleaning? I have an indoor pet, and with other machines, pet hair has gotten caught, when suctioning up messes. What kind of maintenance is there to clean the hose?

It sure can. It pops off pretty easy to wipe down.

how do i use a flashdrive

Just plug it into the USB port, then go to "file explorer". In the left hand column of icons you should see your flashdrive. It will be near the "c:" drive on the list. Just drag and drop files to that icon to add things to the flash drive.
