Some excellent features but battery life is bad

In many ways this is an excellent camera but it has 2 weaknesses, one that is obvious and one that is not. The camera really needs an electronic viewfinder. I use this for shooting birds and the absences of a view finder makes it harder to use, but that isn't the reason for the lower rating. The real issue is the batter life. The battery life is relatively low and if you use this camera every day, you will probably need to recharge the battery every day. The extra features such as wi-fi become useless without a bit more power. With that caveat I would recommend this camera. Canon does sell and AC adapter and does sell extra batteries, but that adds to the real cost of the camera.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Casio makes completely reliable timepieces. I purchased one in 2004 and only replaced it because the previous one was mislaid. There are 2 issues. The sound volume on this device is simply too low and there is no way to increase it. I don't have the best hearing but I never had trouble hearing the sounds on the previous Casio watch. The other issue is that the instructions simply don't tell you how to determine that the item is fully charged. It's not a super big deal but I was almost going return this before leaving it in the sun for a longer time.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great pictures great camera , only reason nor giving it 5 stars the battery died on me first time using camera, in batteries defense i was playing with camera quite a bit learning the ins and outs. i would recommend a second batter charged and ready to go.

the battery can be an issue

I think the biggest weakness in this camera is the battery life. The SX50 and SX60, the big brothers to this camera, come with a battery with about twice the capacity. Still I would recommend any photographer have at least 2 sets of batteries. I would also recommend using the eco setting that cuts battery use but shutting down the display quickly.

Can the camera take bracketed photos for HDR?
Its called auto exposure bracketing (AEB) so you can shoot 3 photos in succession for HDR

how easy is it to read the owners manual is it bold lettering??
The manual is easily available online so that should not be a problem. The paper manual is in small type and it can be a struggle to read.
