My favorite Animal Collective Album
on August 5, 2014

Put quite simply, Strawberry Jam is Animal Collective's most daring and creative piece of work to date. While the quality of the mastering isn't as rich as Merriweather Post Pavillion, this is an album that does what it wants, and it does it well, no superb, you know. Let me say, if you're getting into animal collective, listen to Feels First, then do Strawberry Jam, then do Merriweather. I think you will agree that Jam is where it's at. I recommended it to my best friend Leet Larry but he claims to have the stomach flu. His loss, this is a fine quality vinyl that does the trick. Pick it up before it's too late, you know?
My Best Buy number: 2115956340
What's great about it: The Feels, but more on this LP than the last
What's not so great: Leet Larry is sick again so I can't recommend it to a friend

You can't go wrong with Real Estate, unless you're

So put in a nutshell, Real Estate's Atlas is a great record. At an audiophile standpoint it lives up to expectations, you know? However, I feel like it's a little less nostalgic to the ears and a little more comfortable than their previous release Days. Days was a classic, on that big thick 180 gram vinyl to boot. Let me say, while this slab of vinyl is no exception, it doesn't surpass it's predecessor, but it's pretty dog gone close. I was going to invite my best friend Leet Larry to experience this album with me, but he said he had the stomach flu. I'm not sure if he's telling the truth or not, because if you read my other reviews, he usually clashes in taste with me, but be rest assured, this is an LP worth buying, especially at the price. I spin this at least once a weak and it helps my stress go down, you know?
My Best Buy number: 2115956340
What's great about it: A very chill experience
What's not so great: My best friend Leet Larry was sick so he didn't get to hear it

This record taught me how to dance like a player
on February 11, 2014

I'm not a fan of dance music, but let me say, Disclosure makes me think twice about that. It took me a while to become acquainted with Settle, but it was darn tooting worth it, you know? I learned how to dance like a player listening to it in my car when I was driving on the highway. People thought I was weird, but they just don't understand what it means to multi-task, you know? Now I can impress all the ladies at the bar after 12 when I put on my sick moves. The vinyl is fantastic, the quality of the audio is far superior to any other format, to the point where it feels like you're floating on a cloud. This is what true vinyl is. My only gripe? About 4 or 5 bonus tracks from the digital release are sacrificed, to keep the album from being a triple LP. Let me say, I wish they would have just released it as a 3 vinyl set, however, what I am left with on this double LP is more than satisfying. My best friend Leet Larry would disagree though, he thinks the album is too long and that it doesn't hold a candle to his favorite dance musician, Gunther. I showed him the Atomic Starfish, a dance move I taught myself in the car, and Larry was mesmerized. "I haven't seen dance moves like that since Saturday Night Fever, Eugene!" shouted Larry. I was like, "Yeah, you won't learn that listening to the Ding Dong Song, you know?" This album is totally worth it.
What's great about it: Prime cut dance music
What's not so great: That it's dance music

One of the best albums of the 2000's and beyond
on February 11, 2014

Simply put, Night Falls Over Kortedala is like jardiniere on pizza, it's not to be missed. I have been rocking this one on a compact disk for the last 7 years, and let me say, if anything, it's only gotten better over time. And to think Jens Lekman was going to give up making music and be a card dealer in Las Vegas. What a bunch of malarkey, you know? I'm glad he let go of the king of hearts and made his own ace of spades. Now that I have the vinyl, I have my own slice of heaven, the sound quality is superb... however, the mastering is a little quiet for my ears. That could also be because I just want to have the album up too loud. The first track in particular seems unusually quiet. My mom still kicked down the basement door with her steel toed boots to tell me to "Turn it down, or off," you know? I told my best friend Leet Larry about this album, and how I wish I could turn it up even louder, and Larry just wanted me to turn it down. "My ears are ringin like trombones I tell ya!" Whined Larry. What a wimp. Simply put, if you haven't heard Jens Lekman, this is a great place to start, and to this day it is by and far his best release. Buy it now.
What's great about it: Not a weak track in sight, gets your blood pumping
What's not so great: I wish I could turn it up louder.

They call it Dad rock. Well I don't have any kids
on February 3, 2014

from Chicago, IL
Wilco has become the band that is defined as, "Dad Rock." Well I don't have any kids, and have never knocked a woman up in my life, you know? I swear! I love Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, so they're wrong. The post 9/11 vibe of some songs are enough to send shivers down your spine, while the versatility of the songs is varied enough to summon multiple emotions in the listener. That's what good music does, you know? So I bought this record at my local Best Buy store, and called up my best friend Leet Larry, when I noticed there was a bonus CD copy included. I had already owned the CD prior to the vinyl, so there was no use in having two copies, you know? I was like, "Larry! I've got a free CD to give you, and you're gonna love it." Larry rode his bike to my house as fast as he could, because honestly, I kind of tricked him and said it was the new Gunther album, which is Larry's favorite musician. I guess I shot myself in the foot with that one, cuz Larry was immediately biased toward the Wilco album, as he said, "This sounds like somethin my Dad would listen to Eugene!" I was like, "Shut up Larry, we both know your dad used to listen to Pantera all the time." By LP2 Larry was a little more convinced, but still squirmed like he was being slowly tortured. He didn't want the CD copy either but I insisted he take it. He didn't take it so I put it in his mail box, you know? Contrary to how Larry felt about it, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is perhaps the most important album of Wilco's career, and deserves to be listened to.
What's great about it: Great songs and songwriting, and it comes with the CD as well.
What's not so great: Vocals are grating on rare occasion

Even without being a fan of Studio Ghibli's movies, I still enjoy this double LP to death. Let me say, the sound quality is pristine, and the songs are magical. I love to play this LP when I'm playing Battlefield online, as it's a great pick me up, and makes shooting somebody in the face with a rocket feel magical and enchanting. When I introduced my best friend Leet Larry to this album, he was upset that there were no lyrics. I was like, "You're missing the point Larry!!" I explained to him that music doesn't have to have lyrics to be good, but he just didn't get it. I would still recommend it to a friend though, you know? If you get the chance to pick it up, do it, because it can be a tough record to come by. If you're a Studio Ghibli fan, I'm sure you will appreciate it even more than I have thus far.
What's great about it: Amazing sound quality across two vinyls, one sky blue, one pinkish red.
What's not so great: It can be a hard one to come by

The album feels dead before it even begins
on February 3, 2014

from Chicago, IL
I've listened to every Xiu Xiu album ever made, you know? So naturally I had to pre-order Angel Guts: Red Classroom on high quality virgin vinyl. Their last album "Always" was a breath of fresh air, proving that Jamie Stewart was still able to successfully shock the listener, and that he still had a few tricks up his sleeve. But one must ask themselves, "How much more depressing and shocking can you get, after releasing more than a half dozen albums drowned in darkness, and dry of mirth?" Let me say, the song Black Dick is hilarious though. I know it's not intended to be, but it gave me and my best friend Leet Larry quite a couple of chuckles. With Xiu Xiu, the lyrics are primarily grim, and perverted and Angel Guts is no exception. I don't see Stewart outdoing himself anymore in this department. On their debut album Knife Play, Stewart sent a deep chill down your spine when he shouts, "I am going to cut open your forehead with a roofing shingle." on the track "I Broke Up." Long are those days over, and it feels like there is absolutely no focus on this album whatsoever. The sounds are layered to the point of being blinding to the point of numbness. The opening track "Angel Guts" feels dead and pointless, and is pretty much a good way to sum up the entire album. For once I agree with Leet Larry. This album sucks. Also worth noting, the sleeve has already become unglued and is falling apart and I haven't even had it for a week. Unacceptable.
What's great about it: Black Dick is a surprisingly funny song
What's not so great: It's ultimately a mess of sound that fails to make any point or serve a purpose

This album rules

One look at the cover and you should have some kind of idea what to expect with Darkside's Psychic. The mystery, the glow, and the smooth production, you know? The tracks run at 45rpm and sound downright amazing. The digital fuzz on the opening track is enough to give goosebumps to even the Sons of Anarchy. If you're looking for a fantastic chill out album, look no further. This is a jaw to the floor brilliant debut album as they sound like veterans right from the get go. My best friend Leet Larry said they were n00bs, and I was like, "What would you know about electronic music Larry? Your favorite song is from the water level in Super Mario Brothers." Larry was offended that I tested his knowledge, as he shouted back, "I KNOW A WHOLE LOT ABOUT ELECTRONIC MUSIC EUGENE!! SO YA BETTER SHUT YER MOUTH I TELL YA!" Let me say, it's never easy to introduce a new album to Larry. His hostility reigned strong as usual. By the time the album was over though, he did admit that "the last song was okay." I was like, "You're darn right it is! Now go get the hot pockets from up stairs, the microwave has been beeping for almost 15 minutes." There was no way I was going to stop the record for anything, not even Hot Pockets. That's how good Psychic is. It is far superior to the latest Daft Punk album, which ended up winning best album of the year at the Grammys. Too bad the Grammys are for Grannys and Bozos, you know?
What's great about it: Great music on 2 45rpm vinyls for insanely good sound quality
What's not so great: That Daft Punk won for best album of the year at the Grammys

A heck of a trip, you know?

From the psychedelic artwork to the non-stop surf rock energy, King of the Beach is the best album Wavves has ever released. Every moment is kinetic and though the runtime is a little short, it feels right for an album of this genre. It never outstays it's welcome, and leaves you wanting more, like this stacked Chechnyan model I met several years ago at the Dairy Queen. The lyrics are very relatable as well.
"Sittin' alone playin' nintendo in my room
Lyin' inside of a convertible balloon"
I've done that, you know?
Even my best friend Leet Larry enjoys it, though he's not as glowing about it as I am. He does love the picture of Macauly Culkin on the back cover screaming from Home Alone. He even showed it to my mom. I was like, "Larry, I already showed her, you know?" Bottom line is, if you want a record with some good positive energy, pick this one up. The vinyl sound quality is great, and the songs rule, you know?
What's great about it: There's a picture of a cat smoking pot on it, and Macaulay Culkin
What's not so great: No complaints so far.

Since we last spoke, your dish was dope

Since we last spoke is the follow up to Rjd2's legendary debut, Deadringer. Many fantastic artists who do mash-ups fall into the first album curse, where nothing they make after ever competes with the original material. DJ Shadow is a prime example, and the question of Avalanches long in hiatus second work still begs the question. In Rjd2's case, this is no exception, however, Since We Last Spoke is still pretty close to greatness. Following a more electronic approach, and substituting it's predecessors more hip hop inspired style, what we get feels new and fresh, but at the same time, feels like it's missing some of the ingredients that made the first serving so delicious. My best friend Leet Larry thinks the album is better than Deadringer, but we were also both in the bathroom since we last spoke about it. The quality of this mastering is good, but not as clear and distinct as Deadringer, as the sticker on that album reads, "Remastered," and this one reads, "Reissued." It's still worth having a listen though, as it's one of his best albums. Also noteworthy, the bonus tracks are only available as digital download. I hate when they do that, you know?
What's great about it: Different feel than it's predicessor

how do i download photos to PC?

Plug in a mini usb cable from your computer to your cell phone, and download and use Samsung Kies 3, or, if you have a pair of go nads, click the start button, click computer, and on the left hand side under computer click samsung, go to DCIM and drag and drop your files that way. If you're on a mac, you're plucked. I don't deal with that hipster shpit. but if you WERE on a mac, just download the same program dummy, not calling you the dummy, just the entire Macintosh community. Kudos.
