Nice look, nice cleaning, not so "hot" on drying

Let me start by saying when we purchased this model, we were actually remodeling our kitchen and purchasing all new appliances. LG was the brand we went with for everything other than the dishwasher because LG's reviews were so poor. We chose this Bosch dishwasher because at the time, it had the best reviews. We really liked how this model looked however Best Buy did not have it on the showroom floor so we had to view it at a competitor's store. I really liked the look of it as well as the fact the controls are on the outside. Many put the controls on the inside now which makes the outside look like just a sheet of metal. There was no design element to the others. Just too plain for my taste. We also chose to install ourselves. Never again! Our previous dishwasher was a GE Nautilus, no longer in production. The hookups between the two were opposite sides. We had to replace pipes that obviously didn't come with the new dishwasher. Hookup itself was a true pain. I would advise just paying the money and having someone else do it. This was our first time installing a dishwasher and our last LOL. As for the dishwasher function itself, it does clean really well and it’s super quiet. Washing is no different than any other dishwasher I've experienced. However another reviewer made the comment it doesn’t get hot enough to wash or dry the dishes. I have to disagree to an extent. It gets hot. Extremely hot! Don’t be fooled like we were into thinking there was something wrong with the appliance itself because when it first starts, it takes from the cold water, not hot water. It heats the water during the cycle and trust me, you open the door during that cycle and you will see just how hot it gets however I don’t think it retains that heat long enough to get the dishes dry when on other washing choices. The card says to use Auto wash for better drying. It does make a difference. I was using the “normal” wash cycle. My dishes came out so wet, it’s like I just took them out from soaking in a sink but the GE had that issue too. I can deal with that as long as they are being washed in hot water and disinfected. I was using the normal wash cycle. I liked that both racks have a spray arm. That insures both levels are getting clean. My old one didn’t have that. Just had a bottom one. On another note, I do like that a couple of the prong lines, drop down so if you have bigger items, you can flatten the line of prongs and fit say a pot in however it would be nice if they all dropped down. Sometimes we have several big items and they won’t fit. The other thing my GE had that this one doesn’t is straight prongs. I’m not a fan of these tilted prongs. No different than a parking lot with straight parking vs angled parking. You can get a lot more in if they were straight up and down. Overall, some of these are just curves in design that I will have to get used to but I really wish the dishes dried better. On the front panel, the controls are very easy to follow and I like that there is a timer countdown to let you know how much longer the cycle will be going for. It has an on off button as well so when not in use, you can turn it off instead of keeping the digital clock up. It does take Finish detergent tabs as well as Finish rinse/drying agent. We tried the Finish in our old GE and it didn’t like it so I was nervous about using the Finish again but it does a good job so no complaints. You can use regular dishwasher detergent as well. The silverware basket does come out and it also has a lid on it which does snap open. I can fit a ton of utensils in there. We had our old dishwasher for 11 years so we are having to get used to this new one and its change in design but overall I’m happy with the purchase.
I would recommend this to a friend!
