Best sub $150. phone!

This phone has to be the best bang for the buck smartphone out there. I've had mine for 5 months and bought it as my backpacking/kayaking/mt bike riding phone since it's inexpensive. A few suggestions to improve it: the camera is very good and to make it better, download Open Camera in the Google Play store. It improves the image sharpness, captures more fine detail, especially in lower light. The filters are creative too. Speaker quality: good as is, but I improved it with a app called Ultimate Volume Booster..easy to use. Another highly rated one is Volume Booster Pro. In summary, the Flint has a very good screen, fluid/smooth operation, good/very good camera, very good battery, good call quality and signal strength, very good on board memory at 16GB, and a crazy good price of $49.99. Get it and save your money.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Decent, but free at MetroPCS

This is a decent phone, but not for using more than roughly 4-6 apps due to limited storage..8GB is paltry. At $50., it's not attractive, especially since it's free when you port in a number with MetroPCS (T-Mo network same as Total Wireless) as they give a $60. immediate credit for new port in numbers. Also not that these Simple Mobile phones are very difficult to unlock for use on T-Mobile and their subs, or certainly At&t and their subs.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Phone

I've been looking for a decent Android and looking to stay under $150. since I'm always getting phones wet or braking them while kayaking, hiking/backpacking, etc. I got this phone after reading a few reviews on Boost's site and took the plunge. WOW, very impressed with the strong call quality on speaker or speaker phone, battery is very good, screen is very good at 297PPI, camera and video is very good, and some bloatware can be deleted. Bang for the buck is BIG on this phone and I'll probably get another as backup. I had the Moto G4 Play for 2 days and returned it..speaker distorts voices and music.

Image Quality Not There
on February 10, 2015
Posted by: JoeM
from San Francisco
Like many here, bought it a few weeks ago on the $129. sale. I have plenty of cameras from dslrs to point and shoot and many years of experience. First of all, I do know these big zoom cameras are a compromise with regards to image quality. But there are some really great ones: Canon SX40/SX50, Nikon P520/530/600, Panasonic FZ70, 200, 1000, and Fuji HS39/35/50 and their higher end X-S1. This particular Fuji S9250 camera shows very poor image quality, especially at the longer telephoto length. Images are blurry, not sharp, and definitely lacking in detail. If you don't print over 4x6 size, you will be fine, but I had a few 8x10 done and they showed the poor image quality. I suggest any of the above cameras (even the Fuji S8200 is much better) for much better results. Mine went back.

People are having an issue activation these phones
By Joey
There is no issue if you are buying this as a new phone/new prepaid plan.
If you are buying this phone to REPLACE your existing prepaid phone you will run into issues if activation is not done correctly.
This is basically a subsidized phone because of the price. Verizon/Bestbuy must make up the money on the phone by making sure you pay a minimum amount on your prepaid account.
You cannot just buy the phone and add it to an existing account because it needs to be a new account (read the message that was attached to the iPhone box from Verizon) so they can recoup the money on the phone.
In order to add this phone to an existing prepaid account Verizon/Bestbuy must activate the new phone with a new account. Take your phone number from your existing prepaid account and put it in reserve. Once your number is in reserve they will transfer that number to the new account on the new phone.
You typically want to do this as close as possible to your monthly plan renewal date to avoid losing money on the current plan you already paid.
Most consumers will not know this thus the 4 star.
Most experienced Verizon/Bestbuy reps should know how to do this. If they don't then ask for someone that has the experience/knowledge.

Verizon iPhone 5S.they are unlocked for use on GSM
January 15, 2017
This phone is ready to go right out of the box and NO NEED to create a new account that the person above posted. It's simply done buy taking out your LTE SIM from old phone and putting it into the new phone, power up and let it go through the process with iTunes. Or you can bypass iTunes and avoid the IOS update which has caused problems for many, especially batter life shortened. Now the best part: if you want to run this on GSM network (At&t and T-Mo), the phone comes unlocked (like all Verizon LTE phones due to FCC agreement) and you simply put in the GSM SIM and let it load. It has all the bands needed to get LTE connection on either GSM network. ALso works for Verizon branded iPhone 6, 6S, and 7. To recap: if this is simply a replacement phone, don't buy any airtime, just pop in your SIM and you are good. If you want to create a new account and number on any carrier (not Sprint), put in their SIM, go through the new account set up with that carrier and you are good.

I was trying to unlock the phone with the help of technical support team but they couldnt able to unlock it . The reason is phone is not activated because the best buy has lock on it . They should have activate it before shipping it but they didnt do that and because of that my friend has to rush the store before going on vacation.

Note: these phone COME UNLOCKED from Verizon and can be used on certainly Verizon, but also any of their MVNO (sub carriers) like PagePlus, Total Wireless, and any GSM carrier like At&t, T-Mobile and their sub carriers like H2O, Cricket, MetroPCS, Ultra Mobile, etc.

It's a 3G phone and NOT 4GLTE....S L O W
February 5, 2017
BB continues to list this phone's specs incorrectly. It's a 3G phone and it's too slow compared to 4G or 4G LTE. For $10. more, get the unlocked Alcatel Idol 3 which is much better by every measure. I had this phone for a week and could not figure out why it was slow with data to access internet, slow GPS, and makes youtube really bad. The speaker is junk with too many people complaining on calls. Blu has no tech support as they are a marketing/sales company and the phone is made by Gionee of China.

Dropped calls and random weird performance issues.
By Adam
Phone looks good on paper (solid CPU, 2GB RAM, 1080P screen) but is plagued by a widespread antenna defect that causes weak signal reception and subsequent dropped calls. Google "Alcatel Idol 3 signal" and you'll find countless complaints.
The phone also lags randomly despite it's octa-core Snapdragon 615 and 2GB of RAM and relatively stock Android. It feels especially slow and unresponsive compared to another similarly-specd phone, the Huawei Ascend XT which also has 2GB of RAM and an octa-core Snapdragon 616.
Lastly, the phone's frame is completely made of plastic and flexes quite a bit. It does not feel sturdy at all. Matter of fact, it started creaking after just three days of use. The chrome-plated plastic trim feels cheap and is bound to start peeling in a month or two.
I really wanted to like this phone but the random lag and dropped calls proved to be too much to ignore.

You claim there are "countless complaints" on signal issues with the Idol 3. Since I'm interested in this phone and because one of my reps has been using it for over a year with no problems, I did a search and found very few complaints. I've been checking out HoFo (mobile phone site) and found no complaints on the Idol 3. Seems you got a defective copy. Looks to be one of the highest rated, sub $150. phones out there.
